The Doors: "the act of passing through a doorway serves as a way the mind files away memories"

We’ve all experienced it: The frustration of entering a room and forgetting what we were going to do. Or get. Or find.

New research from University of Notre Dame Psychology Professor Gabriel Radvansky suggests that passing through doorways is the cause of these memory lapses.

“Entering or exiting through a doorway serves as an ‘event boundary’ in the mind, which separates episodes of activity and files them away,” Radvansky explains.
Walking through doorways causes forgetting, new research shows.

The Crystal Ship / The Doors

Before you slip into unconsciousness
I'd like to have another kiss
Another flashing chance at bliss
Another kiss, another kiss

The days are bright and filled with pain
Enclose me in your gentle rain
The time you ran was too insane
We'll meet again, we'll meet again

Oh tell me where your freedom lies
The streets are fields that never die
Deliver me from reasons why
You'd rather cry, I'd rather fly

The crystal ship is being filled
A thousand girls, a thousand thrills
A million ways to spend your time
When we get back, I'll drop a line

CBO: Stimulus hurts economy in the long run

The Congressional Budget Office on Tuesday downgraded its estimate of the benefits of President Obama’s 2009 stimulus package, saying it may have sustained as few as 700,000 jobs at its peak last year and that over the long run it will actually be a net drag on the economy.

CBO said that while the Recovery Act boosted the economy in the short run, the extra debt that the stimulus piled up “crowds out” private investment and “will reduce output slightly in the long run — by between 0 and 0.2 percent after 2016.”

The analysis confirms what CBO predicted before the stimulus passed in February 2009, though the top-end decline of two tenths of a percent is actually deeper than the agency predicted back then.

All told, the stimulus did boost jobs and the economy in the short run, according to CBO’s models. At the peak of spending from July through September 2010 it sustained anywhere from 700,000 to 3.6 million, which lowered the unemployment rate by between four-tenths of a percent to 2 percent.

The Obama administration had promised 3.5 million jobs would be produced at the peak of spending.

Turkey: If it's Butterball, it's Halal

Did you know that the turkey you're going to enjoy on Thanksgiving Day this Thursday is probably halal? If it's a Butterball turkey, then it certainly is -- whether you like it or not...

...much of the meat in Europe and the United States is being processed as halal without the knowledge of the non-Muslim consumers who buy it...

Where are the PETA clowns and the ridiculous celebs who pose naked on giant billboards for PETA and "animal rights"? They would rather see people die of cancer or AIDS than see animals used in drug testing, but torturous and painful Islamic slaughter is OK...

The same Islamic law that mandates that animals be cruelly slaughtered according to halal requirements also teaches hatred of and warfare against unbelievers, the oppression of women, the extinguishing of free speech, and much more that is inimical to our freedom. Don't support it on this celebration of freedom. Join our Facebook group, 'Boycott Butterball'

Health Care Article Repository

I was really fired up to post all the best articles in the fight leading up to the disastrous vote in March, 2010 that is the beginning of the end of America if fully implemented in 2014.

So I collected them all and put them at the bottom of this blog in a sort of permanent place rather than delete all that great reporting.

Just wanted to let anyone out there who is into research or needs this info for any reason: I've just now pruned the list. It's amazing how few links went bad! I updated two of the links because Legal Insurrection and Gateway Pundit moved their blogs since these articles were first posted.

The last link led to a sex site (removed, of course)! That article is still on other blogs: The REAL Health Care Reform "Reality Check".

Weird.

Anyway, check it out. It will make your blood curdle when you realize just how many serious people reported serious reasons why the country should not impelement the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010.

Orly Taitz knocks it out of the park

Full one hour video of testimony before New Hampshire Election Committee

Please note that the election committee of New Hampshire's position is that Obama filled out the paperwork and gave them the check. End of story.

Paperwork.

Check.

Sell the country out, no problemo.

But what you WON'T hear about is this.

So WHY was there a change in Obama's wording on the Declaration of intent? And WHY doesn't the election committee in New Hampshire give a shit?

Now do you understand that you and you're descendants are being sold into slavery???

Do you care or are you just glad that the New Hampshire election committee got their $1,000.00?

...and here's why!
To the shrill left, he's a pariah because his famous anti-tax pledge prevents new revenues from flooding into the U.S. Treasury.

To most on the right, he's a hero for fighting for smaller government.

The truth about Grover Norquist, founder of Americans for Tax Reform, is that he is neither of these things.

If a tree falls...

Ninja Koans: Some Koans take the form of questions, like the one that asks, "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear, does it make a sound?" There is no "right" answer to this question. It can be argued for years from either perspective, yes or no. BUT, to the Ninja there is at least one other answer. It matters not at all whether the tree makes a sound or not. What is important is that it has fallen.
Some of the fallen are rescued from the forest and they pass surrounded by love.

Some of them simply disappear into that same, legendary forest.

Sarah Palin weighs in

How Congress Occupied Wall Street

Politicians who arrive in Washington as men and women of modest means leave as millionaires. Why?

Mark Twain famously wrote, "There is no distinctly native American criminal class except Congress." Peter Schweizer's new book, "Throw Them All Out," reveals this permanent political class in all its arrogant glory. (Full disclosure: Mr. Schweizer is employed by my political action committee as a foreign-policy adviser.)

Mr. Schweizer answers the questions so many of us have asked. I addressed this in a speech in Iowa last Labor Day weekend. How do politicians who arrive in Washington, D.C. as men and women of modest means leave as millionaires? How do they miraculously accumulate wealth at a rate faster than the rest of us? How do politicians' stock portfolios outperform even the best hedge-fund managers'? I answered the question in that speech: Politicians derive power from the authority of their office and their access to our tax dollars, and they use that power to enrich and shield themselves.

The money-making opportunities for politicians are myriad, and Mr. Schweizer details the most lucrative methods: accepting sweetheart gifts of IPO stock from companies seeking to influence legislation, practicing insider trading with nonpublic government information, earmarking projects that benefit personal real estate holdings, and even subtly extorting campaign donations through the threat of legislation unfavorable to an industry. The list goes on and on, and it's sickening.

Astonishingly, none of this is technically illegal, at least not for Congress. Members of Congress exempt themselves from the laws they apply to the rest of us. That includes laws that protect whistleblowers (nothing prevents members of Congress from retaliating against staffers who shine light on corruption) and Freedom of Information Act requests (it's easier to get classified documents from the CIA than from a congressional office).

The corruption isn't confined to one political party or just a few bad apples. It's an endemic problem encompassing leadership on both sides of the aisle. It's an entire system of public servants feathering their own nests.

None of this surprises me. I've been fighting this type of corruption and cronyism my entire political career. For years Alaskans suspected that our lawmakers and state administrators were in the pockets of the big oil companies to the detriment of ordinary Alaskans. We knew we were being taken for a ride, but it took FBI wiretaps to finally capture lawmakers in the act of selling their votes. In the wake of politicos being carted off to prison, my administration enacted reforms based on transparency and accountability to prevent this from happening again.

We were successful because we had the righteous indignation of Alaskan citizens on our side. Our good ol' boy political class in Juneau was definitely not with us. Business was good for them, so why would they want to end "business as usual"?

The moment you threaten to strip politicians of their legal graft, they'll moan that they can't govern effectively without it. Perhaps they'll gravitate toward reform, but often their idea of reform is to limit the right of "We the people" to exercise our freedom of speech in the political process.

I've learned from local, state and national political experience that the only solution to entrenched corruption is sudden and relentless reform. Sudden because our permanent political class is adept at changing the subject to divert the public's attention—and we can no longer afford to be indifferent to this system of graft when our country is going bankrupt. Reform must be relentless because fighting corruption is like a game of whack-a-mole. You knock it down in one area only to see it pop up in another.

What are the solutions? We need reform that provides real transparency. Congress should be subject to the Freedom of Information Act like everyone else. We need more detailed financial disclosure reports, and members should submit reports much more often than once a year. All stock transactions above $5,000 should be disclosed within five days.

We need equality under the law. From now on, laws that apply to the private sector must apply to Congress, including whistleblower, conflict-of-interest and insider-trading laws. Trading on nonpublic government information should be illegal both for those who pass on the information and those who trade on it. (This should close the loophole of the blind trusts that aren't really blind because they're managed by family members or friends.)

No more sweetheart land deals with campaign contributors. No gifts of IPO shares. No trading of stocks related to committee assignments. No earmarks where the congressman receives a direct benefit. No accepting campaign contributions while Congress is in session. No lobbyists as family members, and no transitioning into a lobbying career after leaving office. No more revolving door, ever.

This call for real reform must transcend political parties. The grass-roots movements of the right and the left should embrace this. The tea party's mission has always been opposition to waste and crony capitalism, and the Occupy protesters must realize that Washington politicians have been "Occupying Wall Street" long before anyone pitched a tent in Zuccotti Park.

Ms. Palin, a former governor of Alaska, was the Republican nominee for vice president in 2008.

Grey the Cat

From the wooded area off the side of the road near the Canadian border in New Hampshire, I heard a cat meowing, it sounded scared. So I called it, the way I would any cat, and out of the woods ran a tiny gray kitten - straight into my arms. She had a a big gash across the top of her head and what looked like 'road burn' abrasions on her nose and above her mouth on one side. She was very small, quite young, and looked like she hadn't eaten in a while.

She was very sweet and totally adorable. I tended her wounds, named her Grey and brought her home. I had another kitten, about 6 months old, named Kylie, and the two kitties immediately became best friends. Kylie cleaned Grey's wounds every day and they healed quickly without even leaving a scar. The two cats played together and slept cuddled together in a little ball on my bed every night. My dog Maggie had treated Kylie as her own when I first got her, and she also did the same with Grey, carrying her in her mouth as if she were Maggie's pup and letting the kittens curl up on her front paws under Maggie's chin for naps. Everybody loved Grey, and Grey loved everybody. The year was 1998.

The kindness that Grey learned from the other pets became the strongest characteristic of her personality. In 2000, when my husband brought home Tippy, a little stray tuxedo kitten he'd found, Grey (and Kylie) immediately adopted her and the three kitties would sleep together all cuddled up in a huggy furry pile of cuteness. Over the years, every stray that my husband brought home, whether cat or dog, young or old, docile or feral and crazy, Grey welcomed with love and affection. She never growled, hissed, or scratched at anybody, and even my most ill tempered pets who appeared to hate almost everybody, loved Grey.

Over the years, as other pets crossed the Rainbow Bridge, Grey would be there, holding vigil over them, and kissing their heads to comfort them. When Tippy passed away this past June, it really hit Grey hard, she had always appeared kitten-like, but suddenly she aged very quickly. Grey was a happy fat cat, always purring, and her plumpness earned her the nickname "Blimpy". Grey started to lose weight after Tippy died, and it accelerated over the past 2 weeks. She became very thin and a few days ago, very tired. Yesterday I found her resting in the exact spot where she watched Tippy pass. Grey likes boxes, so I gave her a little box to curl up in. I carried her downstairs to eat with the other cats last night & then after supper, she sat on my chest in my bed for about an hour, purring happily, while the kids pet her. When it was time to put the kids to bed, I helped Grey into the little box she wanted to rest in. The other pets took turns going into the bathroom to check on her & kiss her as she rested. As I said, Grey was well loved by everybody.

At 5:30 this morning, my husband woke me and told me that Grey had passed. She was still in her little box and appears to have gone peacefully in her sleep. She was a very good cat, a truly special little soul, and she will be sorely missed.

Rest In Peace, Grey, Mommy will always love you.

I am not looking forward to telling the kids.

The battle cry of our Age

On Christ, Communists and Sentimentalists
Posted by Ann Barnhardt - November 15, AD 2011 1:24 PM MST

This isn't me. This is Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen in his 1958 masterwork, "Life of Christ". Let's call this the battle cry of our Age. I am hard pressed to remember another passage that was so explicitly relevant and piercing as this one is. Read every single word, then read it again. Then print it off and hang it on your refrigerator, mirror and monitor. As far as I'm concerned, this says it all:
It may very well be that the Communists, who are so anti-Christ, are closer to Him than those who see Him as a sentimentalist and vague moral reformer. The Communists have at least decided that if He wins, they lose; the others are afraid to consider Him either as winning or losing, because they are not prepared to meet the moral demands which this victory would make on their souls.

If He is what He claimed to be, a Savior, a Redeemer, then we have a virile Christ and a leader worth following in these terrible times; One Who will step into the breach of death, crushing sin, gloom and despair; a leader to Whom we can make totalitarian sacrifice without losing, but gaining freedom, and Whom we can love even unto death. We need a Christ today Who will make cords and drive the buyers and sellers from our new temples; Who will blast the unfruitful fig-trees; Who will talk of crosses and sacrifices and Whose voice will be like the voice of the raging sea. But He will not allow us to pick and choose among His words, discarding the hard ones, and accepting the ones that please our fancy. We need a Christ Who will restore moral indignation, Who will make us hate evil with a passionate intensity, and love goodness to a point where we can drink death like water.

-Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen

22 Signs That The Thin Veneer Of Civilization That We All Take For Granted Is Starting To Disappear

In order for a society to function, there has to be a certain level of trust. Each day when we leave our homes, we take for granted that most people are not going to attack us for no reason, that there will only be isolated incidents of theft in our community and that rioting and violence are not going to erupt in the streets. Whether we realize it or not, we depend on the fact that the vast majority of the people around us are going to act in a civilized manner. Unfortunately, the thin veneer of civilization that we all take for granted is starting to disappear. When I was growing up, I was taught that challenging times reveal our true character. There are many that believe that the declining economy is causing a lot of the chaos that we are now witnessing, but perhaps what is going on is that these challenging economic times are simply revealing the character that has been there all along. For decades, a "false prosperity" that was fueled by unprecedented amounts of debt has masked a lot of the internal rot that has taken hold in America. But now that our prosperity is crumbling, our lack of values is becoming startlingly clear.

Greed, corruption and extreme self-centeredness have deeply infected our society. We see this on Wall Street and in Congress, and we see this among those that are trying to survive on the mean streets of our largest cities.

Our nation is breaking down on every level. If by some miracle we were able to fix our economy, that would mask our problems for a while, but it would not solve them.

Unfortunately, as I write about nearly every day, there are a whole host of indications that our economy is about to get even worse. When it does, millions of Americans will become even more desperate, and as we are now seeing all over this country, desperate people do desperate things.

The following are 22 signs that the thin veneer of civilization that we all take for granted is starting to disappear...

Some key points on Homeschooling vs. Public Education

  • Homeschoolers, on the average, out-performed their counterparts in the public schools by 30 to 37 percentile points in all subjects.
  • There was no significant difference between minority and white homeschooled students.
  • These findings show that when parents, regardless of race, commit themselves to make the necessary sacrifices and tutor their children at home, almost all obstacles present in other school systems disappear.
  • Dr. Ray found the average cost per homeschool student is $546 while the average cost per public school student is $5,325.
  • The 1998 study by Dr. Rudner of 20,760 students, found that eighth grade students whose parents spend $199 or less on their home education score, on the average, in the 80th percentile.
  • Whether a state had a high degree of regulation (i.e., curriculum approval, teacher qualifications, testing, home visits) or a state had no regulation of homeschoolers, the homeschooled students in both categories of states performed the same. The students all scored on the average in the 86th percentile regardless of state regulation.

Challenge: New Hampshire is an early primary state and it allows anyone to challenge a candidate on the ballot.

11/13/11 - From Orly Taitz:
This is extremely important. New Hampshire is an early primary state and it allows anyone to challenge a candidate on the ballot. You do not have to be a resident of NH. We have to capitalise on this opportunity.

I put a lot of work and a lot of sleepless nights in gathering all the information and exhibits.

In the post below you will find a total of 87 pages in PDF files and a docx version of the complaint.

You will find a complaint, challenging Obama’s legitimacy on the ballot, 66 pages of exhibits, containing sworn affidavits and documents, showing Obama using a forged birth certificate and a fraudulently obtained CT Social Security number 042-68-4425, which was not assigned to him according to E-Verify and SSNVS. You will find a certified mail tracing number and a blank form for you to fill out. On the form you can state, that you want to join the challenge filed by Attorney Dr. Orly Taitz.

As you know, I will have to travel to HI for the third time. It is extremely expensive. I might need to travel to NH. All of this work takes a lot of time and effort. I hope you will support this effort to remove Obama from the ballot early on in this primary by donating to either “Defend Our Freedoms foundation” or to “Orly Taitz for US Senate 2012″ .

We need at least one person with a backbone in the Senate. While I got donations for the foundation, so far I collected only about $1,400 for the campaign. Registration is $3,420. I will need to spend $6,500 for the full candidate statement on the ballot. I need to start printing brochures, fliers and bumper stickers.

If you have means and can donate $10,000 needed to jump start the effort, it will be greatly appreciated. If you can donate $1,000 or $500 or $250 or whatever amount you can, it will be appreciated. As you know, nobody does anywhere near the amount of work, that I am doing to remove Obama from office. I am putting in time, sweat and tears. I will appreciate your support.
Extremely important, join me and support me in challenging Obama in the early primary state of NH

The end result will be putting our nation and our people in a position where we will be unable to effectively defend ourselves against those who would destroy us.

Lloyd Marcus, Tea Party Nation
A black website published one of my articles. The black publisher asked his readers to forgive me for being a black member of the GOP and review my article with an open mind.

In response, a subscriber wrote, "You can ask us to look past him being a GOP, but you can't ask us to look past his claim to be a tea party Christian."

Grateful for an opportunity to enlighten indoctrinated blacks, I asked the website publisher to publicly post my reply to the ill-informed subscriber's comment.

Please do not think me rude or mean by stating the following truth. The subscriber's comment reflects an ignorance of the facts and history prevalent in the black community.

Many blacks erroneously believe the GOP consists of rich racist white people. In reality, the GOP was founded to free blacks. Only five years after slavery, there were black congressmen, all Republicans. The KKK, Jim Crow laws, segregation, and denying blacks the right to vote where all birthed by Democrats.

Even today, Democrats are still "keeping blacks in their place" -- telling them they need lowered standards, affirmative action, special programs, and freebies to succeed. Democrats constantly send blacks the message they are not as smart was whites. For example, Democrats say having to show ID when voting disenfranchises blacks. This is merely a tactic by which the Democrats implement voter fraud. However, in the process, they are saying blacks are too stupid to find their way to the DMV or other places to acquire proper ID. This is just one example of numerous ways Democrats tell blacks they are inferior and need Democrats' help to succeed.

Republicans deal with blacks respectfully, as equals. Democrats thrive on blacks believing themselves to be victims, despite being blessed to be born in the greatest land of opportunity on the planet. Foreigners are trying to get to America in cardboard boats held together with duct tape. Democrats punish and hate blacks who compete with whites and succeed without Democrat lowered standards and involvement.

While sold as compassion and "fairness," Democrat programs are always about making as many people as possible dependent on government to secure/buy votes. In the long run, all Democrat policies and programs hurt people!

There are black idiot knucklehead racists who want to believe a lie rather than the truth. Yes, I said black racists. I reject and resent the satanic notion that because of slavery, blacks have a right to be racist. Racism is evil, period, whether it comes from blacks or whites. It you disagree, it is fruitless to continue reading this article. I will keep you in my prayers.

In reality, history confirms that the black community has been sleeping with the enemy for years by monolithically voting Democrat. News flash, black voters: the Democrats "ain't" your friends.

Every program which demeans and stifles blacks has come and continues to come from the Democrats. Republicans continue to be the party extremely supportive of black individuality, the party full of nurturers of black entrepreneurial success.

Democrats still want to keep blacks on their plantation of needing government handouts -- thus keeping blacks dependent on government, thus keeping blacks voting for Democrats, who promise to give them stuff via programs. To make their scam work, Democrats also tell blacks that Republicans are burning the midnight oil planning ways to "keep them down." Thus, you blacks need us Democrats to keep evil rich white Republicans off your backs.

In a nutshell, blacks are being played by the Democrats. So you can imagine my frustration and impatience with ignorant knuckleheads who trash me for being a Republican. I am working to liberate my people -- to ensure that they be treated with dignity and respect, and not as needy, inferior supplicants.

When I became supervisor of my mostly white department at a TV station, rather than celebrating me and my achievement, my liberal and Democrat friends demeaned my achievement by saying I got the job due to affirmative action. Wrong. I got the job because I proved myself most qualified. "That's what I'm talkin' 'bout!"

Now, let's talk about the Tea Party.

Again, all you folks who think the Tea Party is racist are ignorant of the facts and just plainwrong! I am sorry, but that is the gospel truth. You are being "played" by the Democrats and their liberal media buddies, who also "secretly" think we blacks are inferior and need their help to succeed.

As a singer and speaker, I have attended over three hundred Tea Parties nationwide, on five Tea Party Express national bus tours. I have been warmly embraced by the mostly white audiences because we share a love for America and are opposed to socialism. These Tea Party folks are not opposing Obama's skin color. They are opposing his agenda.

A Congressional Black Caucus member actually said the white folks at the Tea Parties want to "see blacks hanging from trees." Knowing what I know from my personal experience, the Caucus member's statement is irresponsible, absurd, shameful, and divisively evil -- all about ginning up racial hate and securing votes for Obama. Despicable!

Now, I know some blacks who are stuck on stupid and hate who want to believe otherwise. So be it. All I ask is that before you write me off as an Uncle Tom traitor, check you facts. And quite frankly, I do not care what anyone thinks of me, because I know I am on the Lord's side. God bless.

On Sandusky and This Nation of Cowards

From Ann Barnhardt
Posted by Ann Barnhardt - November 8, AD 2011 8:09 PM MST

I read the grand jury report on Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky and couldn't believe what I was reading. I'm not going to link to it because it is awful. If you want to read it you can find it yourself. It wasn't the fact that Sandusky was a pedophile that was so shocking. We all know about the horror of pedophilia and that it exists in the world. No, what really shook me were the actions of the people around Sandusky - and two of those people in particular.

One was a 28 year old (at the time) graduate assistant in the Penn State football program. He testified before the grand jury, and the grand jury found him to be "extremely credible". This grad assistant testified that he literally walked in on Sandusky anally raping a ten year old boy in the Penn State football locker room showers. Right in the middle of the act itself. He even testified that both Sandusky and the child turned and looked at him - in the middle of the rape act.

What did this grad assistant do? He ran away. He ran away from a child in the midst of being raped. The next day he went to Joe Paterno's house and told Joe Paterno what he saw. In this we have the proof that Joe Paterno KNEW what Sandusky was, and he basically let it slide. For this, Joe Paterno deserves not only to lose his job, but he also deserves to spend some time in prison. Aw, but he's a kind old man. That may be. But that "kind old man" let a man whom he KNEW to be a child rapist have the run of his football facility until JUST LAST WEEK.

What should Joe Paterno have done, you may ask? Well, let's look to history. Have you ever noticed, or thought it strange, that there is no significant mention of child rapists in the courts or prisons in Western Civilization up until about 100 years ago? Why do you think this is? Is it because sex crimes against children are a recent invention? No. The difference is that up until recently, society was healthy enough that it was able to police itself when necessary. When men were caught, and I mean CAUGHT IN THE ACT, like Sandusky, of raping a child, justice was carried out almost instantaneously. There was no need to involve the courts and humiliate and further traumatize the poor child. The crime was eyewitnessed, and the penalty was an absolute given. And so, the men of the community would discreetly either shoot or hang the pedophile. And it was over. The child could move on, and the men in the community moved on secure in the knowledge that the pedophile would never harm another child, with most of the community remaining unscandalized having known nothing about it, and the pedophile, knowing that he was about to die, was also afforded the mercy of the knowledge and understanding of the urgent need for his repentance and to earnestly beg God's forgiveness before he died. This was, by far, the best possible outcome for all concerned.

But what do we do today? Apparently, most people do nothing. They are too narcissistic, too greedy, and too cowardly to act, even if it means to save a child who is being raped. Joe Paterno was more concerned with his reputation and Penn State's reputation, and so he watered down Sandusky's crime to mere "horseplay" and let it slide. Joe Paterno spent YEARS sitting in meetings, palling around, back-slapping, glad-handing and socializing with a man he KNEW to be a child rapist. He didn't even call the police. The mind reels. And I'll say it again: Paterno should spend some time in prison, as should anyone who aids and abets a pedophile.

Now back to the grad assistant. He wasn't alone. There was another instance in exactly the same showers when a janitor walked in on Sandusky orally raping another young boy of about 11 years of age. This janitor was so shaken by the grotesquery of what he had seen, even remarking to his co-workers that it was far worse than the intense combat carnage he saw in Vietnam, that his co-workers thought the man was going to have a heart attack. But again, what did the janitor do upon catching Sandusky? He RAN AWAY. He didn't try to stop any of it. He just ran.

And this is a microcosm of the problem with our culture and why it is collapsing. There is evil in the world, and up until recently, we Christians had the strength and moral authority to not just confront evil, but to literally run at it in a full battle charge when we came across it. That is what we are supposed to do. Those men should have each rushed Sandusky and then either beat him into unconsciousness or broken his arms and legs, thus immobilizing him. They should have then covered and secured the child, and then called 911. But these men were so cowed by their own self-absorption, with both admitting to have feared for their respective positions at the time, that they literally ran away from a child in the midst of being brutally raped.

This is a sick and yet pristine allegory for what is happening to this culture on a macro scale today. We SEE what those "in power", like Sandusky, are doing. We keep catching them in flagrante dilecto and are so overcome with fear, so far removed from Christ and His strength, that we do NOTHING. We slink away into the shadows of self-preservation. And more children are slaughtered. And more Mexican civilians are killed. And more money is stolen. And more mosques are built.

And so, to finish out the allegory, I am the janitor who came around that corner and saw the child being raped, and instead of running away and keeping my job, I bayonet-charged the rapist like a mercenary honey badger. There is no guarantee that I will be successful. My enemies are now simultaneously the Obama regime and the entire muslim death cult.

BUT, can you IMAGINE how those two boys felt when they saw a man there who could save them, and then seeing that man run away? The wound from that might have been worse than the wound from Sandusky himself. Those boys knew Sandusky was a pervert. What must have been hell for them was trying to figure out why the men who COULD have saved them, didn't. Being abandoned is far, far worse than being violently attacked. You can get your head around being violently attacked - the violent attacker wants something from you. Abandonment simply says, "You're not worth it." Even if those men had just stood there and screamed at Sandusky, at least those boys would have known that someone gave a crap about them.

I guess you could say that what I'm doing between my private war against islam and my tax strike is trying to leave a record that someone actually gave a crap.

Sorry to have conceitedly worked myself into the allegory, but the "put yourself in those shoes" lesson about cowardice jumped out at me as being very instructive. Pray for Sandusky's victims, which as of this writing are now numbered at over twenty boys. There will likely be more, as Sandusky was a stone-cold predator who had plenty of people "throwing blocks" for him.

Why would Iran authorize a major terrorist operation on American soil? Skeptics say the much-discussed “foiled” Iranian plot makes no sense. We will know soon enough if the Feds have sufficient evidence related to this specific plot. But Iranian leaders may, in fact, have a motive to accelerate direct attacks on the U.S.: Shia Islamic eschatology, or "End Times" theology.

Clint Eastwood likes Herman Cain...

Eastwood — who has never voted Democrat, besides a 1998 gubernatorial vote for iconic milquetoast Gray Davis — is a big fan of pizza tycoon Herman Cain.

...and so does Dick McDonald:

In Support of Herman Cain

I just listened to Herman Cain’s press conference where he answered questions from the main stream media after categorically denying all accusations of sexual harassment by all known accusers as well as ones he expects to surface in the future. I can appreciate his dilemma as I personally observed a similar situation with a very wealthy client I had early in life. In fact I can say my client’s dilemma and his response was a life altering experience for me. After watching the pain it caused him for ten years I dedicated my life to essentially taking a vacation while I was young enough to enjoy it. It taught me never to be involved in public corporations, the stock or the real estate market.

The client was J. Paul Getty and at the time reputed to be the richest man in the world. Now his problem wasn’t sexual harassment his problem was minority shareholder suits. As the owner of over 80% of the stock and president of major public corporations he was repeatedly sued by professional scum suckers who accused him of malfeasance in office. Like so many who are sued he settled rather than fighting it out in court. His banker confided in me the “standard” $50,000 checks the man regularly wrote to settle were legion. That was a lot of money at the time.

Herman Cain has led hundreds of thousands of employees over his lifetime. His run for high office has brought out the scum suckers just like they did for Mr. Getty. The latest accused him of sexual assault – groping her private parts and slamming her head into his. Now one would think that a man so possessed as that would have had hundreds of women he raped and groped show up to ring the celebrity bell. I doubt that will happen as these accusations don’t pass the smell test. The major corporations he ran and those who elected him to be the President of the Restaurant Association and Board Member of the Kansas City Federal Reserve Bank vet their people and would never have given him those jobs if he was a sexual predator.

I still hold that his 9-9-9 plan is not the plan to transition to a small government that could be supported by a consumption tax. Of course I would oppose it as I designed The Ownership Society’s Rise Up America plan which I believe should go first.

2012: Get ready for Basel III

Did the Administration Drive Another Nail Into Its Reelection Coffin This Past Week?
At the G20 meeting on the French Riviera last week, the president agreed to begin implementing a set of international banking rules that could well send the United States in a renewed downward spiral between May and August 2012.

The rules are called Basel III. They require that banks increase their ratio of capital to loans. In effect this means that banks must do less lending.

Obama: Governing By Slogan

By Gary Starr for The Neville Awards

November 6, 2011

It started out with 'Hope and Change' and 'Yes we can.' Add a dollop of 'We are the ones we've been waiting for' and you had the recipe to cloud the judgment of normally seasoned and cynical liberal reporters, and even some conservative ones too.

After the disastrous 2008 election the slogans and catchphrases kept coming. Unemployment continued to increase, despite $800 billion in stimulus and Obamacare. To hide continued job losses Team Obama invented the phrase 'Jobs Saved or Created'. They don't use that one anymore, so universally reviled and ridiculed as it has now become.

There were also non-existent "shovel-ready" jobs just waiting to be filled. There were thousands of roads, bridges and schools (all union jobs, of course) that needed fixing or building. Eventually Obama and his minions had to admit that shovel-ready "wasn't as shovel-ready as we had hoped." So where did the money go? It still went to the unions, just not to union jobs.

As the recession increased its grip on the United States, our Fraudinator-in-Chief took to assigning blame.

The phrases "the economy my administration inherited," "ethics of greed," "reckless fat-cat bankers," and "selfish millionaires and billionaires", began to make it into the dialogue.

When that didn't magically stimulate anything Obama looked outwardly for something to fix blame on. He found it in the Japanese earthquake/tsunami and the economic turmoil in Europe. Our economy was beset with "headwinds" and "bumps in the road."

With no one left to blame but himself, Obama blamed the American people.

In October, Obama complained that "we used to have the best stuff. Think about it: The world used to say 'Let's travel to America. Let's see the Golden Gate Bridge. Let's see the Hoover Dam. Let's see the amazing things that America built.'"

And in September, he said the country "had gotten a little soft and, you know, we didn't have that same competitive edge that we needed over the last couple of decades. We need to get back on track."

This predictably echoes Jimmy Carter in his infamous "malaise" speech: "the erosion of our confidence in the future is threatening to destroy the social and political fabric of America."

Obama assigning blame to everyone but himself recalls the Soviet propaganda of avoiding blame for all of the failed 5-year plans. Worse than that it recalls Hitler in the last days of the Third Reich, blaming the defeat of Germany on the Germans:

On March 19, 1945 Hitler told his Minister of Armaments, Albert Speer, "If the war is lost the nation will also perish. This fate is inevitable. There is no necessity to take into consideration the basis which the people will need to continue even a most primitive existence. On the contrary, it will be better to destroy these things ourselves, because this nation will have proved to be the weaker one and the future will belong solely to the stronger eastern nation. Besides, those who will remain after the battle are only the inferior ones, for the good ones have all been killed."

This is what comes of self-appointed demi-gods and narcissists.

Most recently we have been witness to Obama's latest faux-stimulus plan, his non-existent jobs bill. With great fanfare he called a joint session of Congress to announce the bill with repeated exhortations of "Pass this bill NOW!!" It did not have the desired effect.

That was followed by the "We can't wait" campaign that had Obama running around the country implying he was going to go around Congress to get a jobs bill. Isn't he doing that already on just about everything else?

The halcyon days of cramming bills through a one-party Congress are over. Even the Democrats in the Senate are voting against stripped down versions of the Obama jobs package.

Maybe the slogan du jour should be "Resign Now!"

An organization that monitors the U.S. government's influence on education, and specifically on parents who choose to school their own children, is warning of a pending move in Washington that would result in "de facto national education standards."

The measure could not only require parents who homeschool their children to teach certain government agenda issues but also effectively remove much of the decision-making authority of local school boards and districts, warns the Home School Legal Defense Association.

Obama's second term

Obama is down, but it’s very early in the play. Like Reagan, he came here to do things. And he’s done much in his first 500 days. What he has left to do, he knows, must await his next 500 days — those that come after reelection.
So 2012 is the real prize. Obama sees far, farther than even his own partisans. Republicans underestimate him at their peril.

THE "DUH" FACTOR

A beautiful mind: Paul Ryan explains America

Video and transcript here.

On this day...

American Minute for October 29th:

OCTOBER 29, 1929, the New York Stock Exchange crashed.

Panic ensued as Wall Street sold 16,410,030 shares in a single day.

Billions of dollars were lost and America plunged into the Great Depression.

In a drive to aid private relief agencies, October 18, 1931, President Herbert Hoover stated:
Time and again the American people have demonstrated a spiritual quality of generosity...

This is the occasion when we must arouse that idealism, that spirit, from which there can be no failure in this primary obligation of every man to his neighbor.
Herbert Hoover continued:
Our country and the world are today involved in more than a financial crisis.

We are faced with the primary question of human relations, which reaches to the very depths of organized society and to the very depths of human conscience...

This great complex, which we call American life, is builded and can alone survive upon the translation into individual action of that fundamental philosophy announced by the Savior nineteen centuries ago.
Hoover concluded:
Part of our national suffering today is from failure to observe these primary yet inexorable laws of human relationship...

Modern society can not survive with the defense of Cain, 'Am I my brother's keeper?'

Electrifying Speech by Herman Cain at the Clear Lake Tea Party Oct. 2011

PERRY’S FLAT TAX IS SIMPLIFICATION BUT NOT REFORM

DickMorris.com
I used to like the flat tax. In fact, I used to propose exactly what Rick Perry is now pushing - an optional flat tax where taxpayers could either make their way through the labyrinth of IRS fine print in search of deductions or could just pay a flat percent of their income in taxes and be done with it.

But then came 2007-2008 and the flaws in our economy became glaringly apparent: The pursuit of wealth through loopholes in the tax code and other speculative devices rather than by productive investment in economic growth. So when Herman Cain proposed 9-9-9, I was and am ready to embrace the idea.

Though imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Perry's rush to put his own tax reform on the table is an obvious attempt to horn in on the limelight in which Cain has basked. But the proposals are just not comparable.

Cain's goal is to reduce the drag that the income tax puts on entrepreneurial initiative and hard work. By slashing the income tax rate, effectively, in half, he makes it that much more worthwhile to get up in the morning, take risks, work hard, take chances, and invest in progress. By eliminating the capital gains tax, he rewards investment and ownership and makes it possible for people to move up the economic ladder, not through phony teaser Fannie Mae mortgages, but by smart purchases and skillful investint.

The goal of Perry's proposal is far more modest: He wants to cut our paperwork. He wants to make it possible to file one's taxes in a few minutes rather than devote days and weeks to the task. He proposes, essentially, a short form for middle income and rich people so tax preparation won't consume their lives. It's a worthy goal. We need to trim the ranks of IRS auditors and staff and free people to make sound investment decisions regardless of the tax consequences. We need to get the IRS out of our lives and a flat tax is a good way to do it.

But Cain's proposal is so very much more important. Perry will nibble around the edges, freeing valuable hours from tax preparation to be available for wealth creation. But Herman Cain would establish America as a beacon for investors, entrepreneurs, inventors, creative business people, and all manner of upwardly mobile, ambitious men and women. He would give the U.S. the lowest personal and corporate tax rates in the world, and the only place where investment earnings are tax free. In the process, he and his plan would kindle decades of robust economic growth. He would make the next few decades a continuation of the American Century.

To trivialize Cain's big idea by comparing to to Perry's small one is a vast disservice. Perry would not reduce the amount of money taken in by income and corporate profit taxation. He would just shift it to shorter forms and a nominally lower rate (but not really lower). Taxes would appear to be cut, but the amount we would have to pay would be more or less the same. He even strives to have his program seen as revenue neutral.

Cain would shift about half of our nation's tax revenues to consumption taxes and away from income taxes. He would vastly reduce the disincentive to earn and encourage savings and investment by taxing spending.

It is not enough to undo the damage Obama has done to the economy by repealing his spending, taxing, health care, and regulatory actions. All that will do is dial us back to the sick economy Bush bequeathed to America. The diseases of the first decade of the 21st Century will still be with us. But Cain's ideas really get at the heart of the problem -- in much the same way that Reagan's reducing of the top personal tax rate from 70% to 28% solved the stagflation of the 70s.

Cain's reforms are the real deal. Perry's are a pale imitation.

Tim Stanley is now in the very scary position of holding the evidence capable of putting Obama’s administration in true jeopardy...

Quo Warranto is not the only possible option on the table any longer...Impeachment is now in play.

Story from a Kansas State Highway Patrol officer

I made a traffic stop on an elderly lady the other day for speeding on U.S. 166 Eastbound at Mile Marker 73 just East of Sedan, KS.

I asked for her driver's license, registration, and proof of insurance. The lady took out the required information and handed it to me.

In with the cards I was somewhat surprised (due to her advanced age) to see she had a conceal carry permit. I looked at her and asked if she had a weapon in her possession at this time.

She responded that she indeed had a .45 automatic in her glove box. Something---body language, or the way she said it---made me want to ask if she had any other firearms. She did admit to also having a 9mm Glock in her center console. Now I had to ask one more time if that was all. She responded once again that she did have just one more, a .38 special in her purse. I then asked her what was she so afraid of.

She looked me right in the eye and said, "Not a damn thing!"

Don't mess with old people!

The IRS decides to audit Grandpa, and summons him to the IRS office.

The IRS auditor was not surprised when Grandpa showed up with his attorney.

The auditor said, "Well, sir, you have an extravagant lifestyle and no full-time employment, which you explain by saying that you win money gambling. I'm not sure the IRS finds that believable."

"I'm a great gambler, and I can prove it," says Grandpa. "How about a demonstration?"

The auditor thinks for a moment and says, "Okay. Go ahead."

Grandpa says, "I'll bet you a thousand dollars that I can bite my own eye."

The auditor thinks a moment and says, "It's a bet."

Grandpa removes his glass eye and bites it. The auditor's jaw drops.

Grandpa says, "Now, I'll bet you two thousand dollars that I can bite my other eye."

Now the auditor can tell Grandpa isn't blind, so he takes the bet.

Grandpa removes his dentures and bites his good eye.

The stunned auditor now realizes he has wagered and lost three grand, with Grandpa's attorney as a witness. He starts to get nervous.

"Want to go double or nothing?" Grandpa asks "I'll bet you six thousand dollars that I can stand on one side of your desk, and pee into that wastebasket on the other side, and never get a drop anywhere in between."

The auditor, twice burned, is cautious now, but he looks carefully and decides there's no way this old guy could possibly manage that stunt, so he agrees again.

Grandpa stands beside the desk and unzips his pants, but although he strains mightily, he can't make the stream reach the wastebasket on the other side, so he pretty much urinates all over the auditor's desk.

The auditor leaps with joy, realizing that he has just turned a major loss into a huge win.

But Grandpa's own attorney moans and puts his head in his hands.

"Are you okay?" the auditor asks.

"Not really," says the attorney. "This morning, when Grandpa told me he'd been summoned for an audit, he bet me twenty-five thousand dollars that he could come in here and piss all over your desk and that you'd be happy about it!"
