No semi-auto rifle, regardless of outward appearance, is an "assault" anything.

From a former firearms instructor in the Army:

Yesterday, Larry Elder, a man I respect greatly, was explaining the difference between a true assault rifle, e.g., an M-16, and a semi-auto AR-15. But, he misused the term "assault weapon" in referring to the AR, as I recall. So, as conscientious as he is, he was a bit inaccurate.

"Assault weapon" has no actual definition in military or firearms usage. It was coined by Josh Sugarman, of Violence Policy Center, or whatever they call it lately, to demonize a class of firearms. He previously created the term, "Saturday Night Special." But, he was successful in getting the terms, one at a time, memorialized in law, resulting in bans of certain firearms. (One step at a time--divide and conquer.)

The VPC, and the Brady bunch, are the two principle "gun control" organizations, each consisting of about a half dozen nitwits. They are heavily funded by the Joyce Foundation, of which our esteemed CiC was a director for several years. He also, as part of Joyce, lectured law professors that the 2nd Amendment only protected the collective right of militias to bear arms.

No semi-auto rifle, regardless of outward appearance, is an "assault" anything. It is just a rifle or carbine, and is semi-auto.

The military designates a short rifle (carbine,) of medium power, that is selective fire (an essential quality), so that it can be selected by the shooter to fire full auto, or semi-auto, depending on circumstances, AS AN "ASSAULT RIFLE." No currently manufactured full automatic (OR SELECTIVE FIRE) firearms are available to sell to civilians.

The American Rifle and Pistol Association (ARPA) is a FRAUD!

Do you remember the phoney "American Hunters and Shooters Association" that pretended to support gun rights ... but actually advocated more gun control and endorsed (surprise, surprise) Barack Obama?

Well, now with the 2014 elections gearing up, another fake gun group has popped up claiming to support "sane" gun ownership.

They're called the American Rifle and Pistol Association and they're officially launching today, July 4. But don't be fooled by all the firearm photos on their Facebook page or all the Second Amendment talk on their colorful website.

Here are direct quotes from their statement of principles:

R+P exists to promote SANE gun ownership and SANE firearms management. SANE stands for: Safety, Advocacy, Networking, and Education.

R+P believes that it is each state's right to determine for benefit of its citizens anyprerequisites, qualifications, documentation, training, and levels of demonstrated proficiency, if any, deemed necessary for lawful use of differing types of weapon systems. The establishment of any such requirements are not the prerogative of the federal government.

R+P seeks to work with state and local governments to help establish effective training and licensing programs designed to increase public safety while protecting eligible citizens' rights to keep and bear arms.

Got that? "Sane" gun ownership. Demonstrated proficiency. Licensing programs. Protecting "eligible" citizens' rights.

Exactly where in the Second Amendment does it say any of this? Who determines what is or is not sane? Since when do we need to demonstrate anything to exercise a right? Why do we need more licensing? And who exactly are the oh-so-lucky "eligible" citizens among us who will be granted protection from this bogus group of sham artists?

No, we don't want "insane" people to have guns. And yes, we think training is great. But we don't need more restrictions. We've been fighting for years to remove restrictions that do nothing to improve public safety and are designed merely to infringe on our rights as American citizens.

Spread the word about the counterfeit American Rifle and Pistol Association. Not only are they frauds, they're purposely insulting all gun owners by launching their pretend group on Independence Day.

Those of us with Buckeye Firearms Association, and thousands of other good Americans around the country, work countless hours week after week, year after year, volunteering our time to defend and advance our rights.

We don't hide who we are or what we stand for. What you see it what you get. If you disagree with us, fine. Stand up and be heard. But don't put on a mask and lie about your true intentions. That we cannot tolerate.

The bill holds that any “transfer” of a firearm must be conducted via a middleman (in practice, a law-enforcement officer or the holder of a Federal Firearms License) and that a transferee is obliged to submit to a check under the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System. There are good-faith arguments in favor of and against this provision. But Chuck Schumer has narrowed the definition of “transfer” so strictly as to make his proposition absurd. If, for example, a gun owner leaves his home for more than seven days — leaving his firearms with his roommate, or gay partner, or landlord — he’ll be committing a felony that carries a five-year prison term. And while married couples are exempted from falling afoul of that provision, the family exemptions apply only to recorded “gifts” and not to “temporary transfers.” In order to avoid making felons of millions of couples, the government would, at the very least, need to spell out clearly what constitutes “gifting” a gun within a family and what constitutes a “temporary transfer,” thus regulating an area that has hitherto largely been left alone.

A number of veterans got letters from the department of veterans affairs [U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs] advising them that the government intends to make a determination, whether they are allowed to carry guns. If the government arbitrarily decides that they are not fit, the veterans will be deprived from exercising their second amendment rights and will be punished if caught caring guns.

“A determination of incompetency will prohibit you from purchasing, possessing, receiving, or transporting a firearm or ammunition. If you knowingly violate any of these prohibitions, you may be fined, imprisoned, or both pursuant to the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act, Pub.L.No. 103-159, as implemented at 18, United States Code 924(a)(2).”

Veterans are a group that represents the biggest threat to the Inonesian/Kenyan usurper Obama, who is currently hard at work destroying the U.S. economy and the civil rights of the U.S. citizens, so the Department of Veterans Affairs is launching an assault on veterans by stripping them of their rights.

Here we go folks. The Dictator Obama has begun his full blown assault on America to disarm and dominate and Diane Feinstein, one of his useful but expendable idiots, is leading the charge. Here it is, folks, and it is bad news. The framework for legislation is always laid, and the Democrats have the votes to pass anything they want to impose upon us. They really do not believe you need anything more than a brick to defend your home and family. Look at the list and see how many you own. Remember, it is registration, then confiscation. It has happened in the UK, in Australia, in Europe, in China, and what they have found is that for some reason the criminals do not turn in their weapons, but will know that you did.

Remember, the first step in establishing a dictatorship is to disarm the citizens.

Gun-ban list proposed. Slipping below the radar (or under the short-term memory cap), the Democrats have already leaked a gun-ban list, even under the Bush administration when they knew full well it had no chance of passage (HR 1022, 110th Congress). It serves as a framework for the new list the Brady's plan to introduce shortly. I have an outline of the Brady's current plans and targets of opportunity. It's horrific. They're going after the courts, regulatory agencies, firearms dealers and statutes in an all out effort to restrict we the people. They've made little mention of criminals. Now more than ever, attention to the entire Bill of Rights is critical. Gun bans will impact our freedoms under search and seizure, due process, confiscated property, states' rights, free speech, right to assemble and more, in addition to the Second Amendment. The Democrats current gun-ban-list proposal (final list will be worse):

Any semiautomatic rifle with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds (except tubular magazine .22 rim fire rifles). A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine, and has: (i) a second pistol grip, (ii) a threaded barrel, (iii) a barrel shroud or (iv) can accept a detachable magazine outside of the pistol grip, and (v) a semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds. A semiautomatic shotgun with: (i) a folding or telescoping stock, (ii) a pistol grip (see definition below), (iii) the ability to accept a detachable magazine or a fixed magazine capacity of more than 5 rounds, and (iv) a shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

Frames or receivers for the above are included, along with conversion kits. Attorney General gets carte blanche to ban guns at will: Under the proposal, the U.S. Attorney General can add any "semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General."

Note that Obama's pick for this office, Eric Holder, wrote a brief in the Heller case supporting the position that you have no right to have a working firearm in your own home. In making this determination, the bill says, "there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event." In plain English this means that ANY firearm ever obtained by federal officers or the military is not suitable for the public.

The last part is particularly clever, stating that a firearm doesn't have a sporting purpose just because it can be used for sporting purpose -- is that devious or what? And of course, "sporting purpose" is a rights infringement with no constitutional or historical support whatsoever, invented by domestic enemies of the right to keep and bear arms to further their cause of disarming the innocent.

When members of our military and law enforcement start taking these things seriously, so do I.

A former CA Highway Patrol officer forwarded to me the following email he received:

"When I first started watching this video I thought it was BS, then at 7 minutes into the clip I became curious,and concerned.

So then I forwarded it to a former Army combat infantry Veteran who has current direct connections = Association linked closely with active duty combat infantry units both Germany & U.S.

He says this:

"I can not say with certainty that the item here is totally legit.

However, what I can say with some confidence is that at least some of the active duty infantry folks with whom I am close have told me they have been assigned to attend more than one session involving control of civilian populations, including how to disarm, etc. These classes have taken place over the past 90-120 days.

When the active duty folks have asked why they are being assigned to attend this specific training, they are simply told it is basic continuing education. But there is talk among the ranks on this topic.

The UN Arms Trade Treaty that has been identified by observers as a flagrant threat to the second amendment and which Barack Obama is determined to sign has its roots in a 1961 State Department memorandum which explains how the United Nations will oversee “complete disarmament” of the American people under the ruse of preventing war. The UN Arms Treaty has caused so much controversy because it outlines a plan to target “all types of conventional weapons, notably including small arms and light weapons,” according to Forbes’ Larry Bell.

Former US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton also warns that the agreement “is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nation states, but there is no doubt that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control.”

Active Shooter Training for Citizens

The recent shootings at Trolley Square, Virginia Tech and the Omaha Mall remind us that violence can strike at any time and in any place. These types of events are not unusual. They occur everywhere. They happen in churches, malls, schools and workplaces. They will happen again. Have a plan.

Whether you carry a gun or not, these are some precautions that everyone can take to be better prepared if it happens to you.

Family Emergency Plan - BEFORE any emergency occurs, develop a Family Emergency Plan. This plan may be used for any emergency. Keep it simple, such as developing a rendezvous point in the event you are separated. Have an alternative plan. No matter where you are, a simple plan is better than no plan.

Situational Awareness - Be AWARE of your surroundings and situation. NOT paranoid, just aware. Keeping the cell phone jammed in your ear 24/7 is not being AWARE. Even if you see something that does not seem right, leave and call police.

Find an EXIT - When out in public, look for and know how to get to the nearest TWO exits. Don’t concern yourself that they may be marked EMERGENCY, EMPLOYEE ONLY or ALARMED. You are going to use them anyway in an emergency.

Breakage - If you are trapped in an active shooter situation and there are no door exits but windows are available, BREAK THEM! Use whatever is available up to and including your firearm to break glass doors or windows to escape the threat!

Move - If you hear gunfire or see the shooter, immediately go to the nearest exit and AWAY from the shooter. The farther away you get, the safer you will be.

Lock It - If you are trapped in a location that has no exit, lock yourself and others inside. Use belts, electrical cords, rope or whatever is quickly available to secure the door. Barricade the door with furniture, desks or store displays. Be quiet and stay away from the doors. Do NOT open the doors for others once you are secured. Shooters have been known to pound on the doors pretending to be victims, begging for entry.

Stay put until the police break in to rescue you.

Fight Back! If you are trapped, cannot escape and the shooter makes entry into your location, FIGHT BACK! Immediately ATTACK with chairs, tables, fire extinguishers, books or whatever you have on hand. Everyone in the room must ATTACK, tackle him, bite, claw, stab or choke. If you do not fight back, savagely and with overwhelming force he will methodically kill everyone.

Armed Citizens - If you are armed with a firearm at the scene of an active shooter, your FIRST responsibility is to get your family to safety. Help others along the way if you can but immediately MOVE your own family out of the area first.

Call 911 - ASAP, get on the phone and give 911 the shooters description, location and type of weapon, if known. Give the dispatcher YOUR location and description. Make certain to tell the dispatcher that YOU ARE ARMED. The dispatcher may try and get you to put your weapon away. REFUSE and tell dispatch you will remain armed as long as the threat is active.

Take Cover - Place yourself between the shooter and others that may be with you. Have someone else talk on the phone. Your focus needs to be on the shooter.

Police Confrontations-If you are confronted by the police, keep your weapon muzzle pointed down. Raise your non-shooting hand up near your face in the SURRENDER position. Yell loudly at the officer “I am NOT the shooter”! Do EXACTLY and IMMEDIATELY whatever the officer orders you to do. Expect to be taken down at gunpoint and treated like the bad guy. Be thankful they didn’t shoot you. Don’t take it personal. What actions you took can be sorted out afterwards. If an officer asks you to help, comply and do as you’re told.

Additional thoughts:

1. Carry a good small flashlight whether you carry your gun or not.

     

2. Carry enough ammo.

3. Carry a working cell phone

4. Know trauma care. That is to say, know how to treat gun shot wounds and other injuries with whatever is on the scene. The police are trained to go straight to the shooter. They will NOT stop to help until after the shooter is stopped. You will be left to help yourself and others.

5. Be a good witness. Be prepared to give a coherent statement to the police about the incident.

6. Keep your mouth shut if you were forced to use deadly force. Only give a generic statement such as “he tried to kill me/us and I was forced to defend myself/us”. Stick to the 5th Amendment until you have a lawyer by your side. Remember, there will most certainly be a civil lawsuit coming. Keep your mouth shut. Protect your own civil rights. If you need to discuss it with someone, tell your lawyer or your clergy. Those are protected communications.

7. When you write your statement look up Utah law [substitute your own location] regarding use of force and include the exact same words that match what action you were forced to take. “I reasonably believed the force was necessary because...”

6. You have the RIGHT to keep and bear arms. You have a RESPONSIBILITY to train and become proficient with your firearm.

2. Force must be necessary.

     (b) Is attempting or committing a crime.

     (c) Was the aggressor.

These events happen. They happen in churches, malls, schools and work places. They will happen again. If you are going to carry a firearm, be responsible and BE PREPARED.

You may want to be able to protect yourself and others in an insecure world; you may be nurturing a desire to master the skill of marksmanship.
