Grennel is an Army Reservist who spent two years in Iraq and was a principal in putting together the first Iraq elections, January of 2005. The Crucible is the final challenge in the US Marines boot camp that recruits must complete in order to become a Marine. It is the culmination of 12 weeks of physical, marksmanship, firing range, and combat water survival training. The Crucible consists of drills and training with 60 lbs. of gear over 48 miles within 54 hours, given only two meals and six hours total of sleep. It’s a brutal mental and physical challenge that marks a young man’s transformation into a Marine.

Here’s the next legal battle that will come: In a draft situation, are we now going to have to have a legal fight going to the Supreme Court based on the position “I did not take an oath of allegiance to defend the nation so therefore I am exempt from being drafted because I was an immigrant? When I became a citizen, I made no such agreement as a condition upon receiving my citizenship so I don’t have to defend this country. I don’t have to serve in its military; I’m exempt.” Oaths are important and oaths are binding.

I personally don’t care who the President is anymore. I’ll never care again. Both McCain and Obama have damaged the office and this nation severely by their willingness to put us through this. Along with Aaron there were 16 US Navy SEAL Team VI members, five US Navy SEAL Team support members and one working dog, five US Army and Army National Guard flight crewmembers, three US Air Force members of the 24th Special Tactics Squadron, seven unidentified Afghan Commandos, and one Afghan interpreter.

What is so appalling is the lack of concern from the Obama administration, Congress, and the military to lift the curtain of deceit. As well, you come to realize media hypocrisy is hiding this incident from the American people.

If this were the Bush administration, the story would have been all over the New York Times, Washington Post, and every single liberal media outlet — not that’s not the case. Remember Cindy Sheehan and attention she got? Then why are Billy and Karen Vaughn shunned?

We who have served in uniform took an oath, “to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and to bear true faith and allegiance to the same.”

Those who truly believe in and live this oath realize there is no statute of limitations on this commitment to our beloved Republic. True military servants will stand guard for America as long as there is breath in their lungs. While in uniform we know we must follow the orders of our superiors, as long as they do not violate any moral standard.

However, once out of uniform, we have more freedom to express our thoughts, perspectives, and insights. Towards that end, two retired U.S. generals, Army General Paul E. Vallely and Air Force Brigadier General Charles Jones, have created a citizens’ commission called America’s Provisional Leadership Council to scrutinize Obama administration actions on national security and economic issues.
