"Dominion. Best horror movie of 2018. Based on real data and events."

"The most harrowing yet incredible documentary I’ve ever seen , the makers of this film must be commended. I’m genuinely and utterly shocked . This horrific truth MUST become mainstream knowledge for all."

"New York ain’t New York anymore"

A knish is just a knish,
A blintz is just a blintz.
Of that you can't deny...

Well, apparently not anymore!!

One man recently related:

"13th Avenue used to be fantastic. Carini's for pastries. Scotto's for "Brooklyn bread" and salviatas and other cookies. Long gone. [Yes, Scotto's is still there, but under "new" management.] And it's not just the paisans who are gone. Not that long ago, lady friend and I visited the old neighborhood, and she wanted a knish, like she used to buy for her mother on the avenue. We drove all the way from 38th Street to the New Utrecht Avenue el, not one Jewish deli with a lousy knish."

And a former New Yorker friend's recent experience:

"Speaking of knishes, we went to Yonah Schimmel’s, the most famous place in the world for knishes and they were awful.

Apparently, it’s now a mostly Internet mail order business so they are kept frozen and if you come in person (as we did) they microwave them. Ugh.

Yet another great New York institution down the drain."

My friend also mentioned that all her favorite restaurants were gone too!!

9 HEALTHY HUMAN FOODS THAT ARE POISONOUS TO YOUR DOG

From Answers.com

Raw Steaks

This might be the image you generally see of a very content dog but unfortunately, your dog shouldn't be eating raw meat like this. It's one thing to catch a squirrel and eat it but the way that meat is processed and shipped, eating it raw is dangerous for humans and animals alike!

Avocado

Avocados are a human healthy food full of protein and healthy omega acids. However, they also contain persin, which can lead to heart congestion, diarrhea, and vomiting in dogs. Although avocados are a natural food, they are not safe for your dogs. Instead, look for pet foods infused with fatty acids.

Bread Dough

If your dog ate uncooked bread dough, it would continue to rise inside of him/her, causing sever discomfort and abdominal problems. Additionally, the fermented yeast can lead to alcohol poisoning. Even though your pup might lay on your feet all adorable like when you're preparing a meal with bread dough, you need to advise to never feed it to your dog.

Fish

Fish can be ok for dogs depending on the source and the amount, but Salmon Poisoning Disease (SPD) has been reported on the west coast as dogs have become ill after ingesting infected trout and salmon. Symptoms of salmon poisoning include fever, diarrhea, vomiting and lack of appetite. Fish bones can be small and hard to find which can also cause blockages and lacerations of their digestive tract.

Dark Chocolate

All chocolate contains both theobromine and theophylline, which are toxic to dogs. Although the taste of chocolate is appealing to dogs, chocolate can be deadly. The noticeable symptoms include panting, vomiting, and diarrhea. Seek veterinary care if these symptoms are present. In addition, chocolate can cause long-term damage to their nervous system and heart. Seek veterinary care if these symptoms are present. In addition, chocolate can cause long-term damage to their nervous system and heart. It may be a sweet treat for us, but it's incredibly fatal and dangerous for your dog.

Grapes or Raisins

Grapes and raisins can lead to renal failure, vomiting, diarrhea, and other digestive issues in dogs. These symptoms may not occur until 24 hours after ingestion. Not only that, but due to their small size and unique texture, the hold that the potential for a choking hazard.

Onion and Garlic

Onions and garlic are member of the underground bulb vegetable family that are a healthy addition to the human diet, but prove to be poisonous for dogs. Both contain compounds harmful to dogs' red blood cells and can lead to vomiting, diarrhea, anemia, weakness, and panting. Exposure to concentrated forms such as garlic powder puts dogs at risk for toxicosis. Affected dogs are often weak with dark red or orange tinted urine.

Macadamia Nuts

You might be surprised to learn that even a handful of macadamia nuts can make a dog very ill. symptoms include weakness, vomiting, muscle tremors and rapid heart rate. When combined with chocolate, ingestion can be fatal.

Dairy

Dairy is essential in the human diet; however, many humans are lactose intolerant. While only some humans are lactose intolerant, all dogs are. This is because dogs do not have the enzyme required to digest dairy properly. Dairy consumption can lead to digestive issues including vomiting and diarrhea. Cheese can lead to severe pancreatic issues.

Mushrooms

Many mushrooms are safe for humans to eat, while many more are poisonous and have harmful or fatal side effects. The same is true for dogs and mushrooms. While some varieties of mushrooms are safe for dogs to eat, not all human-friendly mushrooms are safe for dogs. While some varieties of mushrooms are safe for dogs to eat, not all human-friendly mushrooms are safe for dogs. To keep things simple, exclude mushrooms from your dog's diet altogether. Especially the ones found in the yard.

Xylitol

Xylitol is a sugar substitute that is shown to be safe in humans and is used in many products such as chewing gum and baking products. In dogs, xylitol can cause a rapid drop in blood sugar levels as well as disorientation and seizures. If a large amount was eaten, liver failure is possible, which can be fatal.

Persimmons

Persimmons can cause intestinal blockage and inflammation for your pooch. So watch for persimmon trees next time you are taking the dog for a walk.

Rhubarb Leaves

Rhubarb is great for pies, but the leaves can be toxic for your canine friend. The leaves and stems are toxic because they contain oxalate crystals which depletes the calcium from a dog's body. Symptoms include: drooling, loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, weakness, and tremors.

Please help these dogs

In Thailand, killing dogs to export their bones or skin to foreign countries is illegal. But that hasn't stopped smugglers from doing it anyway -- murdering thousands of dogs to make gloves, purses or wallets. (They're crushed in transit, then skinned and boiled alive!)

I just signed a petition asking Thailand to crack down on the dog skin trade. Will you sign too? Here's a link to the petition: http://www.care2.com/go/z/20987950

Thank you for taking action!

Consumers paying 7.4% more for food than they were last year--could lead to macro-economic repercussions by Fall

Karl Denninger at The Market Ticker warns:
Now let me point out that we’re not quite where you have to ring the “oh crap” bell yet. There’s another month or two before that happens — but by June, if the trend we’re seeing here hasn’t broken this will get into the forward economic analysis mindspace of most of the people who look at this stuff.

The second thing that's good about getting old

Consuming high levels of protein — particularly animal protein — is a bad strategy if you’re at midlife and aiming to live into old age, new research finds. But a study out Tuesday reveals that in older age, fortifying one’s diet with more protein-rich foods appears to be a formula for extending life.
High-protein diets: Bad for the middle-aged, good for the elderly

This is rich!

Man, oh, man...does this mean I can have Brown Cow's delicious "cream top" yogurt now??
Reminiscent of the old days, when farm-fresh milk came in a glass bottle and a layer of sweet cream rose to the top, our Cream Top yogurts have a delightfully rich layer of the cream on top. We make Cream Top from unhomegenized milk, and that creamy top layer makes for decadent taste and richness-and we use real maple syrup for an unmatched, natural sweetness.
NPR:
Consider the findings of two recent studies that conclude the consumption of whole fat dairy is linked to reduced body fat.

You can't save the world

Buying a homeless man a sandwich for two dollars feeds that man. Appropriating twenty billion dollars to feed a sandwich to every homeless man in America will only provide sandwiches to a small percentage of the homeless at a cost of four thousand dollars a sandwich.

Once you try to buy sandwiches for millions of homeless men, the sandwich money is eaten up by the expenses of studying how to identify the homeless, learning what kind of sandwiches they would like, studies on marketing sandwiches to homeless people over social media, the costs of diversity training for the sandwich makers and a million other things.

You can buy a homeless man a sandwich, but you can’t buy them all sandwiches because once you do that, you are no longer engaging in a personal interaction, but building an organization. You don’t need a homeless man to exist so that you can buy him a sandwich, but once an agency exists that is tasked with buying homeless men sandwiches; it needs the homeless men to exist as ‘clients’ so that it can buy them sandwiches and buy itself steak dinners.

7 worst ingredients in food

More than 3,000 food additives -- preservatives, flavorings, colors and other ingredients -- are added to US foods, and this is one of the key reasons why I recommend avoiding most of the processed foods that contain them.

While many well-meaning nutritionists will teach you the importance of reading food labels, the easiest way to eat healthy is to stick with foods that need no food label at all… When was the last time you saw an ingredients list on a grass-fed steak or a bunch or broccoli?

There’s a good chance, though, that you do eat some processed foods, and if this is the case reading the label is invaluable. There are literally thousands of ‘red flags’ to watch out for in the foods you eat, but a handful take the proverbial cake for worst of the worst.

Calphalon blender recalled due to injury hazard

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced the recall of 22,000 Calphalon XL 9-speed blenders. An additional 400 blenders are being recalled in Canada. A fragment of the blender’s blade unit can break off during operation, posing an injury hazard. The announcement comes three months after Consumer Reports rated this Calphalon blender a Don't Buy: Safety Problem due to the same blade-related risk of injury.

"EAT, FRY, LOVE: a Cautionary Remix" (William Shatner's video warning about serious turkey fryer accidents)

Published on Nov 12, 2012
In 2011, State Farm teamed up with William Shatner to produce a short video dramatizing an actual accident where the celebrity was burned in a turkey fryer mishap on Thanksgiving. As a result of the video and safety campaign last year, State Farm grease & cooking related fire claims occurring on Thanksgiving Day were carved in half and the daily average for the entire month reached a seven year low. It seems that William Shatner really DID help save the world from exploding turkeys. To get the safety message out in 2012, State Farm worked with John Boswell, aka melodysheep on YouTube, to auto-tune the Shatner turkey fryer video. Called "Eat, Fry, Love: A Cautionary Remix", Boswell injected the perfect blend of creativity and repetition to create a Thanksgiving safety anthem sure to have families clamoring for a moister, tastier and turkey.

More evidence liberals are trying to kill us

HotAir.com:
CDC: Oops, salt is not actually dangerous, and cutting it may be harmful
As with so many bad public health ideas, the idea of cutting salt found its national footing thanks to Mayor Michael Bloomberg, whose primary public service as head of the largest city in America has been to ban and discourage as many delicious foods as possible. In 2009, Bloomberg started the National Salt Reduction Initiative, led by the New York City health department in an effort to push major food companies into “voluntary” lower-sodium standards. The goal was to reduce sodium intake by 25 percent.
In an anecdotal case, a close friend became very ill and was hospitalized last year. Turns out that he had mistakenly cut out salt from his diet due to all the bad publicity [FROM LIBERALS]!

Dog Food Advisor

I just spent WAY TOO MUCH TIME on this site!

Elizabeth Scalia: "In the past few weeks I’ve heard some surprising people admit they’ve been arming themselves and purchasing ammunition."

Startling news from The Anchoress:
What’s interesting is that I am hearing similarly discomfited talk around me, and seeing it in my emails. In the past few weeks I’ve heard some surprising people admit they’ve been arming themselves and purchasing ammunition — one such discussion happened all around me at the hairdresser’s while I sat and listened. The stylist and his boss, they’re storing food and arming themselves. The chiropractor who popped in to say hello while taking his afternoon stroll said he is armed, too: “never in my life thought I’d have a gun in the house, now we have two.”

They’re arming, they say, because they “see it all going bad.” These same folks who voted for Barack Obama in 2008 were now asserting an idea the far-left had floated around before that election, but instead of “Bush is going to install martial law and suspend elections.” they’re saying it of Obama. “He paid off his friends and did nothing to create jobs and he wants it all to go bad, because then he can stay in power and dictate.”

Yeah, it seems as paranoid and nuts as it did when it was said about Bush, but this stuff is not being said in an extremist corner of the internet — it’s being said in a middle-class suburban salon in an area where 30% (or more) of the businesses are now shuttered, and houses are being foreclosed upon and then re-occupied seemingly overnight, creating what the stylist called “a neighborhood full of changes and no hope.

10 Good Reasons To Eat Olive Oil

Personally, I love the stuff!

From The Olive Oil Times:

1)  It tastes good
2)  It can help you lose weight
3)  You may live longer
4)  You might get smarter
5)  You will glow from inside out
6)  Your children may be born healthier
7)  You will feel less pain
8)  You will have more energy
9)  You may be more resistant to infection
10) You could be having better sex

I think we all know which ones would be (a) a man's favorite and (b) a man's least favorite reason :-)

“Better health care. Pricier pizza."

“I have two options, I can stop offering coverage and pay the $2,000 fine, or I could keep my number of staff under 50 so the mandate doesn't apply,” she told Legal Newsline. Nichols added that the law may cost her between $20,000 to $30,000 extra in taxes. “Obamacare is making me think about cutting jobs instead," she said.
