Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song) by Amy Grant...is breath taking.

Amy Grant Breath of Heaven (Mary's Song) - The Nativity Story from Kristy Honsvick on Vimeo.
This Christmas song tells the nativity story from Mary's perspective. It portrays the mother of Jesus as a frightened young girl, attempting to deal with the circumstances of giving birth to the Holy Father's Son. Despite her human doubts, Mary's faith in the goodness and mercy of God remain and help her deal with the unique situation she finds herself in. English songwriter Chris Eaton originally penned this song, with the title "Breath of Heaven." (Released on Amy Grant's holiday album in 1983.) READ MORE

Breath Of Heaven (Mary's Song)
from the album Home for Christmas
I have traveled many moonless nights
Cold and weary with a babe inside
And I wonder what I've done
Holy father you have come
And chosen me now to carry your son

I am waiting in a silent prayer
I am frightened by the load I bear
In a world as cold as stone
Must I walk this path alone?
Be with me now
Be with me now

Breath of heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of heaven
Breath of heaven
Lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness
For you are holy
Breath of heaven

Do you wonder as you watch my face
If a wiser one should have had my place
But I offer all I am
For the mercy of your plan
Help me be strong
Help me be
Help me

Breath of heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of heaven
Breath of heaven
Lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness
For you are holy

Breath of heaven
Hold me together
Be forever near me
Breath of heaven
Breath of heaven
Lighten my darkness
Pour over me your holiness
For you are holy
Breath of heaven
Breath of heaven
Breath of heaven

ONE CHRISTMAS

"...the spirit of those two wonderful men lives on here and especially in heaven, and I am reminded of them every Christmas Eve--in the best of times or worst of times, they were the best of men."
ONE CHRISTMAS
Tuesday, December 26, 2017

There are a lot of terrible things going on right now in the world. But we are at the time of the year when we as Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. We can choose to be impacted by the world around us in its dimly lit arena, or we can choose to let our light so shine. I choose the latter. I want to tell you a little about the Christmas' that I had growing up on our family farm in Ohio. I was blessed to be born into a horse and cattle farm that has been in our family for some 200 years. And Christmas, especially Christmas Eve, was a wonderful time for our family. December 24 was my Dad's birthday. And my Dad was well loved by his neighbors and friends, so we had a lot going on Christmas Eve.

I remember one special Christmas Eve. I must have been about four years old. The night was falling and the wind and snow were whipping across the barnyard, as we often were victims of the "lake effect" from Lake Erie in the southern most tip of the snow belt. The barn was cold when we turned on the lights and started climbing into the loft and throwing bales of hay down, putting the hay in the mangers, grain in the feed boxes and water in the buckets. Then the horses and cows were gathered in the barnyard, one by one we let them through the door and they automatically went to their stalls or stanchions. The barn warmed up and the animals contently eating was a comforting sound.

We had dinner and went to church. I remember my brother Chuck carried me out of church that night. He was 14 years older than me and we were so very close. He was asking me whether I thought Santa had made it to the farm yet. And I was worried that it was so early on Christmas Eve that he had not--for we celebrated our family Christmas on Christmas Eve with my Dad's birthday. Then he looked up at the moon and said, "See there...its Santa's sleigh and his reindeer. Don't you see them?" He was so convincing that I looked and looked, but couldn't find them. But Chuck insisted that he had seen Santa Clause. We got home and sure enough there were wonderful presents under the tree.

We had a great family time that year, opening presents and enjoying one another. And afterwards, neighbors and friends started dropping by to wish my Dad happy birthday. Their kids and me were playing with my new farm set, and there was a lot of laughter and fun. Chuck was killed by a drunk driver a few years later. Dad passed in 1989. But the spirit of those two wonderful men lives on here and especially in heaven, and I am reminded of them every Christmas Eve--in the best of times or worst of times, they were the best of men. We have a Savior, Jesus Christ, who is with us in all times. And no matter the condition of the world, we can draw comfort in His promise in Matthew 28:20, "I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." God Bless you and yours during this season.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Here are 5 simple ways to dive into Advent this year

Katie Heller:
...this year, as you put up your tree, decorate your home, buy your presents, and make your meals, remember that your preparation isn’t simply for the coming of a single day; it’s for the coming of a person, Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. God asks us to step into a season of waiting and joyful anticipation - not to drive us crazy but to draw us nearer to Him. And, when the day comes to approach the manger and gaze on the face of Love in our newborn King, we’ll be fully aware that we have a Father who provides and always keeps his promises.
This is a great read, don't miss it!!

Don't take satan's bait

Everyone is trying to make sense of all the violence across the country. These things are not new, but they seem to be getting worse. For example in a Christmas Eve Jot in 2008, I recounted the headlines of how a newlywed husband, eager to see what his wife had gotten him for Christmas, peeked inside the wrapping. The wife was so enraged that she stabbed her husband six times with a kitchen knife.  A kitchen knife was also the weapon in New Jersey where a mother slashed her six year old son's throat, then tried to commit suicide. In Detroit, a woman committed suicide after shooting her husband and family dog dead with the same gun. Today we have stories of terrorist events and murders--leading up to and through the holidays.

Fires, family fights, murders, suicides, terrorist events, drunk driving deaths, even natural deaths seem to be more prevalent during the holiday season.  People are stressed.  They are rushing about, busy with the getting of and doing things, that life itself seems to take a backstage. Then there is that one little thing-a child asking that silly question for the tenth time, or the husband coming home a tad bit late, or the wife not getting that little thing done-and "boom" everything blows up and lives are changed forever.  My household growing up was a wonderful place to be. But the only arguments I remember my parents having were during the holidays.  Some stupid thing would go wrong and not even a well-prepared Secretary of State could successfully intervene.

We lived at our farm that had been in the family for over 200 years.  And things were old and sometimes didn't work well.  They didn't work well especially during the holidays when large family and friend gatherings were about to occur.  One year, the well went dry just hours before my mother was to serve a meal to about 25 family members. She ordered a water truck to come fill the well. My dad said that the water would just run out of the well and that she just had to patiently wait for the water level to restore itself.  This led to World War III.  Mom was packing her bags and leaving this old farm house forever.  Well, my Dad's patience with her saved the day, and a little help from a quick running spring gave us the water we needed.  All was well.

But the point is that during holidays that celebrate the Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, the spiritual enemy presses in and tries to steal the joy of the season.  Jesus said in John 10:10, "The thief comes not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."  Remember that satan wants to destroy anything that would honor Christ-your holidays, your home, your family, even you.  But Christ is a life giver.  He came that we might have life to its fullest measure.  So when those thoughts creep in that do not reflect the life-giving joy of Christ, cast them down before they become actions.  If you can't seem to do that, call your pastor or a friend or 911.  Don't take satan's bait.

Have a Blessed and Powerful Day!

Holiday message from me to you

TO ALL MY DEMOCRAT FRIENDS:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2014, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great.

Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere.

Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith, or sexual preference of the wisher.

TO ALL MY REPUBLICAN FRIENDS:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ 2014.

Someone cares!

Our mission, Remember, Honor, Teach, is carried out in part by coordinating wreath laying ceremonies a specified Saturday in December at Arlington, as well as veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond. We also organize a week of events including international veteran’s tributes, ceremonies at State Houses and a week-long “Veteran’s Parade” between Maine and Virginia where we stop along the way to spread our message about the importance of remembering our fallen heroes, honoring those who serve, and teaching our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms.

A true Christmas story

Please see my post from Christmas Eve last year (2011) and please DO NOT miss listening to the incredibly beautiful song from the movie Joyeux Noel!

Sorry this is a bit late for Christmas, but we had an electrical fire in the oven in our kitchen and had to deal with returning the ham and other groceries (which Gelsen's so generously agreed to allow) and then finding a place to take our Christmas Eve guests for dinner last night.

Merry Christmas, everyone!

"Santa killer" was a Muslim

Pamela Geller:
The mainstream media has reported this as the "Santa killer." No mention that it was an Islamic honor killing until this Dallas Morning News story. Our daughters and granddaughters are going to be the ones who will suffer because of for this obfuscation and excusal of barbarism.

This has been going on for years. When Amina and Sarah Said were brutally murdered by their father, also in Texas, on New Year’s Day 2008 for the same reason -- having non-Muslim boyfriends -- I thought, this is it. This is going to break the dam wide open. America would not, could not possibly, ignore this horror caused by and sanctioned by Islamic beliefs, assumptions, and attitudes.

And yet America continues to ignore this horror. And more and more people are victimized every day.
