Hawaii elections clerk: Obama not born here!

A college instructor who worked as a senior elections clerk for the city and county of Honolulu in 2008 is making the stunning claim Barack Obama was definitely not born in Hawaii as the White House maintains, and that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Obama does not even exist in the Aloha State.

Tim Adams, a former senior elections clerk for Honolulu, now teaches English at Western Kentucky University.

"There is no birth certificate," said Tim Adams, a graduate assistant who teaches English at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Ky. "It's like an open secret. There isn't one. Everyone in the government there knows this."

The Huffington Post has annointed Obama "The First Jewish President." This isn't just because so many Jews voted for him; Liberal Jews will blindly vote for any Democrat.

The term exists because so many self-hating Jews surround Obama, such as David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel, Ron Bloom, Cass Sunstein, and, most recently, Elena Kagan.

So why would these people associate themselves with such a regime? Do they have a death wish?

Don't be fooled...

Dear Fellow Tea Party Patriots,

There is much talk of the formation of a third political party based on the tea party movement. Additionally, in several states, including Michigan, unscrupulous individuals have formed third parties utilizing the tea party name in an attempt to play dirty politics and trick unsuspecting voters into voting for candidates who are being put on the ballot simply to split the vote.

Tea Party Patriots is issuing this statement in order to make it clear that we are not associated with any attempts to form a third party. Additionally, we believe that such efforts, even those that might be well intentioned, are unproductive and unwise at this time. The history of third party movements in this country is one of division and defeat. We believe that it is instead time for all Americans to rise up and demand appropriate reform within their own existing parties. The mechanisms exist for citizens to participate in their parties, and to drive their parties in the right direction.

The Tea Party Patriots encourage all citizens to get involved in the party process, and to reshape their parties into something in which they may once again believe. This country does not belong to any one party, nor does it belong to the career politicians. And it certainly doesn't belong to people who would like to trick you into voting for "tea party" candidates so you will waste your vote. This country belongs to the citizens.

As Benjamin Franklin once said, "We have given you a republic madam, if you can keep it." The founders knew that it would be our sacred obligation as citizens to get involved, and to work hard to hold on to this great nation. We have much work to do, and future generations will look back in judgment. We hope you will join us in preserving the republic.

Citizens, private relief groups, photographers, bloggers, and citizen journalists have been barred from access along the Gulf Coast

Conservative Examiner has also learned that the few authorized journalists and photographers that are allowed in the area have been instructed by the Feds not to write anything critical of the Obama Administration's response--or shall we say the lack thereof--to the crisis. Photographers have also been instructed to limit photographs of the devastation.

These actions by the federal government do nothing but raise suspicions even more about the nature of this disaster and the scenario that led to it.

Judicial Watch Uncovers New Documents Detailing Mexican Government Incursions

U.S. Border Patrol Agents Subjected to 528 Assaults from January – June 2008, Statistics Show U.S. Border Incursions on the Rise in 2008 and 2009

Contact Information: Press Office 202-646-5172, ext 305
(Washington, DC)

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that on March 22, 2010, it received records from Customs and Border Protection (CBP) concerning Mexican Government incursions and encounters along the U.S. border. The documents which are incomplete and do not contain all of the relevant data nonetheless indicate an increase in the number of incursions in 2008 and 2009. Judicial Watch’s analysis of the data shows:

•76 Mexican Government incursions from January 2008 to December 2009 (data missing from February 2009)

•50 Mexican Government incursions in 2008 alone, which is double the number of incursions from the previous year

•528 assaults against CBP agents from January – June 2008

•11 assaults against National Guard agents with CBP from January – June 2008

CBP statistics obtained previously by Judicial Watch confirmed 25 incursions in Fiscal Year 2007. Judicial Watch has documented 226 Mexican Government incursions between 1996 and 2005.

CBP also records the number of tunnels discovered along the border which are allegedly used for smuggling and human trafficking. In 2008 alone, CBP discovered 25 of these tunnels. Overall, between 1990 and March 2009, CBP discovered 103 tunnels along U.S. borders – one along the U.S border with Canada and 102 along the U.S. border with Mexico.

The documents obtained by Judicial Watch from the CBP are missing large amounts of data. Through the Freedom of Information Act Judicial Watch requested incursion and encounter reports from January 2008 to present. However, CBP provided full statistical reports for the first six months of 2008 only. The remaining reports only include the numbers of incursions. Moreover, data for February 2009 is missing entirely. Judicial Watch has filed an appeal with CBP to obtain the missing information.

“President Obama and the federal government continue to be derelict in securing the nation’s southern border. These new government documents depict a chaotic and dangerous situation for our nation’s Border Patrol agents – and for border states such as Arizona,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

Previous Mexican Government incursion documents obtained by Judicial Watch describe incidents involving shots fired on both sides of the border, unmarked helicopters invading U.S. airspace, drug smuggling, and confrontations between U.S. Border Patrol agents and members of the Mexican military.

Restrictive policies created and enforced by the Interior Department and federal land managers are preventing the U.S. Border Patrol from providing the maximum amount of security on some of our most vulnerable border areas...

As if fighting terrorism weren't complicated enough, the United States has a new national security threat to worry about: grizzly bears.

Iran Will Have Nukes Before the United Nations or Obama Do Anything

The only hope for peace was a strong, timely, and principled stand against Iran's rogue atomic weapons programs... with Obama, obviously that didn't happen. Rather, his weakness, foolish appeasement efforts, and thinly-veiled contempt for the Jewish state are instead inviting attacks from Iranian allies and proxies, as witnessed in last week's "peace boat" stunt. Israel is one of the only true friends America ever had... sadly, this is being cast aside flippantly by the most disgruntled and radical president in US history, one who shamefully spent 20 yrs sitting in an anti-Semitic church. Alas, Obama has all but acquiesced to an Iranian bomb... but Israel has not -and will not- ever.

If Dear Leader chooses to abandon them more comprehensively should Israel bomb Iran, not replenishing planes and weapons spent in any Israeli attack on Iran would be one way to do it... this would make an IDF move against Iran -in defiance of Obama- all the more risky, challenge being Jerusalem would likely face a subsequent all-out war vs Iran, Syria, Hezbollah, and Hamas. If it didn't go as well as '68 and '73, they could run into supply problems if the US withdrew support while the IDF were facing thousands of missiles raining-down from Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Regardless, in most any nuclear or conventional scenario, all-out war looks like a real bad bet for Tehran... they have almost no chance of defeating Israel in an expanded conflict, if the Iranians would even fight hard for the widely-reviled regime. And unlike recent tepid IDF campaigns -i.e. Lebanon 2006- Israel would fight this one to win... and win BIG. Tehran would have to be nuts to want this fight... but unfortunately for all of us, they are just that.

UK Engineer sets US straight on BP and Gulf oil spill

From: Roy Thomson
Re: Oil leak in the Gulf

Whilst I fully understand the concerns of Americans plus many other people around the world, I think it is time to separate relevant facts from emotion and fiction.

(1) Firstly, BP is an exceptionally caring, reputable company for its employees, the public at large and the environment. I know, I was an engineer with them for over 30 years. They are doing everything possible to stem the leak.

(2) It is my firm conviction that they will meet all reasonable and honest claims by people around the coast who have suffered actual losses.

(3) No matter what idealistic environmentalists say, America needs oil now and in the future. Currently, there is no substitute.

(4)Domestic oil is needed as a counter to Arab oil to avoid blackmail and avoid paying possibly $23/gal. in the future, instead of the present $3/gal. approx.

(5) To those who wish to go back to the cave-dwellers life style, do as you wish, but without oil and coal, no amount of wind or wave power will meet modern energy requirements. When the wind and waves stop, the lights will go out, until nuclear power is available.

(6) Whether you like her or not, Sarah Palin is correct in stating that oil production in water over 1 mile deep is a risky, expensive and dangerous business forced on oil companies by legislation against on-shore and shallow water drilling elsewhere.

(7) Environmental damage to wetlands will recover, as it always does and the loss of birds and a few turtles is sad. However across in the Caribbean, in spite of the natives turning turtles into soup, the silence from tree-huggers is deafening.

(8) The current consumer campaign against BP is foolish. If BP is bankrupted, there will be no compensation payouts and thousands of American fishermen, hoteliers, suppliers, stock-holders, workers and their families will suffer financially.

(9)The current whiff of anti-British propaganda is distasteful. When the American owned Piper Alpha Rig exploded and sank in the North Sea with the loss of 167 British lives, there was no such anti-American feeling or protectionist campaign in Britain . It was put down as a tragic accident and followed by tighter regulation.

(10) BP and Shell (40%) are the only British oil companies operating in the USA as opposed to American oil companies Exxon, Conoco, Chevron, Texaco, Mobil, Amerada, etc operating in the UK & Europe. The balance is clearly in US favour.

(11) Finally, actual detailed responsibility for the failure has not yet been determined. The world’s most experienced deep-sea drilling company, Swiss owned Trans-Ocean, drilled the well for BP, and an American company Cameron, supplied the blow-out preventer and shut off valves. No doubt the technical experts and their lawyers will eventually sort this one out.

Incredible Teachings of Muhammed

www.islamreview.com

By Abdullah Al Araby

Mohammed's teachings are included in what is called "Hadith." The "Hadith" is a record of Mohammed's words and deeds according to his wives, relatives, and companions. Next to the Quran, it is the most important part of Islamic law; its teachings are just as binding.

The Hadith is recorded in many books, and by many people, not all of them are agreed upon by all Muslims. All of our quotes here are from "Sahih Al-Bukhari" which comes in nine volumes, and contains thousands of Hadiths. Al Bukhari is accepted by most Muslims as the authentic words of Mohammed. Because of the limited space, we will mention here just a few examples.

Our purpose is to give the reader a taste of the teachings of Mohammed, the prophet of Islam. Some of these teachings may shock you, and some may amuse you. Others may simply leave you mystified.

WOMEN

Women are deficient in mind and religion.
  • Mohammed asked some women, "Isn't the witness of a woman equal to half that of a man?" The women said, "yes," He said, "This is because of the deficiency of the woman's mind." Vol. 3:826

  • Mohammed to women: "I have not seen any one more deficient in intelligence and religion than you." Vol. 2:541
The majority of people in hell are women.
  • Mohammed said, "I was shown the Hell-fire and that the majority of its dwellers are women." Vol. 1:28, 301; Vol. 2:161; Vol. 7:124
Women are a bad omen.
  • Mohammed said, "Bad omen is in the woman, the house and the horse." Vol. 7:30
Women are harmful to men.
  • Mohammed said, "After me I have not left any affliction more harmful to men than women." Vol. 7:33
Women may not wear wigs.
  • Mohammed said, "Don't wear false hair for Allah sends His curse upon such ladies who lengthen their hair artificially." Vol. 7:133

SEX AND MARRIAGE

Mohammed's sexual strength is equal to 30 men.
  • Anas said, "The prophet used to visit all his wives in an hour round, during the day and night and they were eleven in number." I asked Anas, "Had the prophet the strength for it?" Anas replied, "We used to say that the prophet was given the strength of thirty (men)." Vol. 1:268
Mohammed married a 9 year old girl.
  • "Narrated Aisha that the prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old." Vol. 7:64
Allah hurries to please Mohammed's sexual desires.
  • When the Quranic verse that allows Mohammed to postpone the turn of any wife was revealed, and when Mohammed said that Allah allowed him to marry his adopted son's wife, Aisha (one of his wives) told him, "O Allah's Apostle I do not see but that your Lord hurries in pleasing you." Vol. 7:48
When a woman is divorced irrevocably, she can not return to her husband until she marries (including having sexual intercourse) with another man.
  • "Narrated Aisha: The wife of Rifaa Al-Qurazi came to Allah's Apostle and said, 'O Allah's Apostle, Rifaa divorced me irrevocably. After him I married Abdur-Rahman bin Az-Zubair Al-Qurazi who proved to be impotent.' Allah's Apostle said to her, 'Perhaps you want to return to Rifaa? Nay (You cannot return to Rifaa) until you and Abdur-Rahman (the impotent man) engage in sexual intercourse!" Vol. 7:186

HUMAN RIGHTS

Islam is to be imposed by force.
  • Mohammed said, "I have been ordered to fight with the people till they say, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and whoever says, " None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, his life and property will be saved by me." (otherwise it will not). Vol. 4:196
Apostasy is punishable by death.
  • Mohammed said, "Whoever changes his Islamic religion, kill him." Vol. 9:57
A Muslim must not be killed if he kills a non-Muslim.
  • Mohammed said, "No Muslim should be killed for killing a Kafir" (infidel). Vol. 9:50
Ethnic cleansing is practiced.
  • Mohammed said to the Jews, "You should know that the earth belongs to Allah and His Apostle (Mohammed) and I want to expel you from this land (The Arabian Peninsula), so, if anyone owns property, he is permitted to sell it." Vol. 4:392
  • Mohammed's last words at his deathbed were: "Turn the pagans (non-Muslims) out of the Arabian Peninsula." Vol. 5:716

ETERNAL SECURITY

No assurance of Salvation.
  • Mohammed said. "By Allah, though I am the apostle of Allah, yet I do not know what Allah will do to me." Vol. 5:266
God punishes a deceased if his relatives weep.
  • Mohammed said, "The deceased is punished because of the weeping of his relatives." Vol. 2:375
When you speak badly about a deceased, the deceased will go to hell.
  • Mohammed said, "You praised this, so Paradise has been affirmed to him, and you spoke badly of this, so hell has been affirmed to him. You people are Allah's witnesses on earth." Vol. 2:448
Urine on your clothes will bring punishment from God.
  • Mohammed said, "The deceased person is being tortured in the grave not for a great thing to avoid, it is for being soiled with his urine." Vol. 2:460
Holy war (Jihad) is a guarantee of heaven.
  • Mohammed said, "The person who participates in (Holy battles) in Allah's cause and nothing compels him to do so except belief in Allah and His Apostle, will be recompensed by Allah either with a reward, or booty (if he survives) or will be admitted to paradise (if he is killed)." Vol. 1:35

MEDICINE

Drinking camel's urine will make you healthy.
  • "The prophet ordered them to follow his camels, and drink their milk and urine, so they followed the camels and drank their milk and urine till their bodies became healthy." Vol. 7:590
Fever is from the heat of hell.
  • Mohammed said, "Fever is from the heat of hell, so put it out (cool it) with water." Vol. 7:619
A fly in your drink is a cure.
  • Mohammed said, "If a housefly falls in the drink of anyone of you, he should dip it (in the drink), for one of its wings has a disease and the other has the cure for the disease." Vol. 4:537
How the baby's looks are determined.
  • Mohammed said, "As for the child, if the man's discharge precedes the woman's discharge, the child attracts the similarity of the man, and if the woman's discharge precedes the man's, then the child attracts the similarity of the woman." Vol. 5:275

MISCELLANEOUS

If you eat garlic don't come to the place of worship.
  • Mohammed said, "Whosoever ate from this plant (i.e. garlic) should not enter the mosque." Vol. 1:812
Effect of evil eye
  • Mohammed said, "The effect of an evil eye is a fact." Vol. 7:636
Which shoe you should put on first.
  • Mohammed said, "If you want to put on your shoes, put on the right shoe first, and if you want them off, take the left one first." Vol. 7:747
Breathing in your drink is bad.
  • Mohammed said, "Don't breath into your drinking utensil." Vol. 1:156
God frightens his devotees with eclips.
  • Mohammed said, "The sun and the moon are two signs amongst the signs of Allah and they do not eclipse because of the death of someone but Allah frightens His devotees with them." Vol. 2:158
Satan urinates in people's ears, when they don't wake up for prayer.
  • Narrated Abdullah: the prophet was told that a person had kept on sleeping till morning and had not got up for the prayer. The prophet said, "Satan urinated in his ears." Vol. 2:245
Yawning is from Satan.
  • The prophet said, "Yawning is from Satan and if anyone of you yawns, he should check his yawning as much as possible, for if anyone of yuo (during the act of yawning) should say: "Ha", Satan will laugh at him." Vol. 2:158
Stars are missiles which God uses to hit the devils.
  • The creation of stars is for three purposes, i.e., as decoration of the sky, as missiles to hit the devils, and as signs to guide travelers. Vol. 2:158

The (Not So) Great Pretender

A few years ago, the film Catch Me if You Can told the story of Frank Abagnale, Jr., an extraordinary con man who managed to successfully impersonate a pilot, a doctor, and a legal prosecutor all before the age of nineteen. I've noticed a number of similarities between Mr. Abagnale and our president. But when it comes to being a Great Pretender, Obama is sorely lacking.

Like Mr. Abagnale, Mr. Obama has been playing multiple parts ever since he came on to the national stage. Unlike Mr. Abagnale, the president is a lousy actor.

Small Business Trade Group Changes its Stance on ObamaCare

Dan Danner, CEO of the National Federation of Independent Business, recently reversed the NFIB's position on ObamaCare and joined the growing number of states which are challenging the ObamaCare mandated health insurance requirement in court. In a recent Wall Street Journal article, Danner argued that ObamaCare is "death by a thousand cuts for small business owners."

Consider that ObamaCare:
  • Increases Overall Cost. The Congressional Budget Office recently revised its cost estimate, increasing original projections by $115 billion. The actual price is now estimated to be more than $1 trillion.

  • Offers an Illusory Small Business Tax Credit. Less than one-third of small businesses qualify and ObamaCare guarantees the credit for no more than six years.

  • Taxes Small Businesses. ObamaCare levies a new $8 billion tax which will be paid almost exclusively by small businesses and individuals.

  • Imposes Costly New Regulations on Small Businesses. ObamaCare includes new IRS reporting requirements expected to result in another $17 billion of increased taxation.
The frustrating reality of ObamaCare is that it hinders entrepreneurs' efforts to grow their businesses and, at the same time, fails to control the rising health care costs that limit growth.

But...
The pay and benefits for the public worker is a $1.45 compared to a dollar in the private sector. So there’s a 45% premium there… If you cut the pay and made it equal, the benefits and the pay with private sector workers, it would save about $340 billion. That’s enough to fill the budget holes in every state over the next two years, if we were just on the same playing field.

White House linked to flotilla organizers

A top adviser to President Obama is the contact person within the White House for communications with the Free Gaza Movement over plans to challenge Israel's blockade of the terrorist Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip, according to a reputable source close to the Netanyahu government.

The source, a career official whose reliability was established through his tips for the book, "Why Israel Can't Wait," identified John O. Brennan, deputy national security adviser for homeland security and counterterrorism, as the contact.

The allegation raises the bizarre possibility that the Free Gaza Movement's flotilla action in the Mediterranean was being coordinated with the White House, something that would align with a shift in U.S. policy toward Israel being debated within the Obama administration.

Katrina vs. Gulf oil spill

From American Spectator:
In the response to Hurricane Katrina, federal law specifically provided that the then Democrat Governor of Louisiana and Mayor of New Orleans were in charge. The federal and FEMA role was to "support…state and local assistance efforts" with the necessary, primarily financial resources. Nevertheless, in the days after the hurricane, President Bush's federal government was the only functioning authority, as the Coast Guard rescued 30,000 people off of rooftops. Hundreds of school buses that could have been used to whisk those people out of harm's way were left ruined under water due to Mayor Nagin's inaction in response to federal hurricane warnings. The partisan Governor acted only to deny and delay President Bush's control over the state's national guard for political reasons.

But the Gulf oil spill emanates from federal waters, which means President Obama is directly in charge, not state and local officials. And his derelictions are losing his own supporters...
The Coming Resignation of Barack Obama

From the Wall Street Journal:
Could this be Mr. Obama's Katrina? It could be even worse. The federal response to Katrina was governed by the 1988 Stafford Act, which says that in natural disasters on-shore states are in charge, not Washington. The federal obligation is to "support . . . State and local assistance efforts" by providing whatever resources a governor requests and then writing big checks for the cleanup. Mr. Bush had to deal with a Louisiana governor and a New Orleans mayor who were, by federal law, in charge.

But BP's well was drilled in federal waters. Washington, not Louisiana, is in charge. This is Mr. Obama's responsibility. He says his administration has been prepared for the worst from the start. Mr. Obama's failure to lead in cleaning up the spill could lead voters to echo his complaint in Katrina's aftermath: "I wish that the federal government had been up to the task."

Mr. Rove, the former senior adviser and deputy chief of staff to President George W. Bush, is the author of "Courage and Consequence" (Threshold Editions, 2010).

How Federal Policy Triggered the Mortgage Meltdown

The best way to ensure against future bailouts is to terminate the federal government’s too-big-to-fail guarantees. That’s right: End them, don’t mend them. So long as guarantees are in place, primary lenders, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac and every other mortgage industry player will continue making loans to large numbers of people unable to pay them back. Risk must be driven by market rather than political forces. Writing on the mortgage meltdown, Barron’s columnist Gene Epstein recently noted, “Crony capitalists love to take foolish risks, dependent as they are on government’s rigged markets, often to the point that they would not be able to cope with free markets if they do.”

Many political leaders, under the guise of “reform,” prefer assigning to government the role of underwriter-in-chief. Frankly, it’s hard to imagine the federal government getting much more involved than it already is...

The Left does not care about human rights

The radicalization of liberalism also meant the growing legitimation of terrorism (particularly of those groups backed by the USSR and its left allies) and the delegitimization of those governments resisting them. The left routinely couches its political attacks on those governments in the language of human rights-- but human rights has nothing to do with it. The left hypocritically assails Columbia's Uribe on human rights, while giving Castro, Chavez and the rest of the Marxist gang a pass. Just as it assailed the condition of workers in the US, while giving Lenin and Stalin a pass on an agricultural and industrial system built on the murder of millions. Similarly the left jumps on every Israeli soldier who stops a suspicious Muslim at a checkpoint, while ignoring not only Fatah and Hamas' murder of Israeli civilians, but even their murders of their own citizens.

None of this matters because the left doesn't believe in human rights. It doesn't care about human rights. It never has. Not when Stalin was paving roads with slave labor, nor when Saddam's minions were entertaining themselves in rape rooms. Anyone who seriously thinks that the left is actually outraged about Abu Ghraib because they care about the dignity of man, rather than because they are congenital liars and hypocrites who exploit any misstep by their enemies for propaganda purposes, has not been paying attention. The majority of regimes that the left wing has supported were non-democratic and routinely violate basic human rights. The left not only doesn't give a damn, it defends every one of their crimes.

So let's put to rest the farce that there is anything Israel could do that would win over its left wing critics. The same people who control the dialogue in the press and the melding of minds at universities. To them it is not about justice or doing the right thing or human rights. Those are just words that they use as weapons. Paying attention to those words and trying to demonstrate your innocence only makes you weak and vulnerable. And then they redouble their efforts to cut you to pieces with them. That is what happened to America. It is what is happening to Israel. It is what happens to anyone who stands in the way of their red handed allies.

Of course the left does have a special animus for Israel...

Gunfight at the AZ corral

Gunfights in the area between police and lawbreakers are increasing in frequency, cops there agree. It’s largely involving criminals from south of the border. The Sinaloa Cartel and Zeta Cartel are fed up with their drug shipments being confiscated by gringo cops, and some informants say cartel leaders have told the drug mules that if they allow the dope to be snagged by Yank LEOs, they can expect reprisals upon their loved ones and death for themselves. This has upped the likelihood of homicidal armed resistance by drug runners stopped by our police. Cartel-sponsored dopers are also believed to have been behind the recent murder of an Arizona rancher who tipped the local law to one of their drug caches...

In Huachuca City, Arizona – 16 miles from the border – Chief Dennis Grey, Lt. Jennifer Fuller, and Officer R. Thomas Allen showed me their current inventory of confiscated “human traffic” vehicles, enough to stock a good-sized used car and truck lot. They told me that the self-styled “coyotes” who smuggle their human cargo across the border charge from $1,000 for ordinary Mexican citizens up to $35,000 for members of the Russian Mafia, and the coyotes tend to carry AK47s to keep their “cargo” in line, but are fully prepared to use their weaponry against US police. They’ve stopped Chevy Suburbans and Ford Excursions with 15 or more people packed on board, compact sedans with three people stuffed in the trunk trying to breathe, and sixty illegal immigrants packed like sardines in a relatively small Freightliner. A 15-passenger van carries twice that human payload when smuggling people across the border. It’s about the money.

The coyotes are bringing in people far more dangerous than undocumented fruit-pickers trying to feed their families...

R U DANGEROUS?

H.R. 2159: Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2009

From a friend:
The question is, given the powers that this gives the Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder, do you think it is possible they start targeting "domestic terrorists" maybe those dangerous, racist Teaparty people?

I love the part about the Attorney General legitimately "withholding information" on national security grounds.

These are the same people that issued "Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment" and went after the Michigan Militia that was supposedly plotting to kill police officers but so far have been challenged by the judge to show evidence they did more than talk.

Operation Shield of Strength

It is not "official issue," but thousands of military personnel are now wearing a "Shield of Strength" dog-tag bearing a Scriptural passage on one side (Joshua 1:9 "I will be strong and courageous. I will not be terrified, or discouraged; for the Lord my God is with me wherever I go.") and the words "United States of America - One Nation Under God" on the other.

Don't ask how much it costs to repeal 'Don't Ask Don't Tell'

...it took this dumb grunt about three hours (a journalism intern could have done it in half that) scanning FEC filings to learn all that I need to know about Patrick Murphy: His congressional seat was bought and paid for by MoveOn.org to the tune of $90,000 dollars. You know, the group that brought you such patriotic hits as “General Betray-us.” Still outraged?...

Ask Medal of Honor-winning gunfighters that have had to kill people for a living what they think of this nonsense, not armchair quarterbacks in air-conditioned Quonset huts sipping diet Cokes and i-chatting on Skype. Real grunts, like Major General Livingston, USMC (retired), will tell you what the active guys can’t say: this repeal of DADT is a bunch of PC BS.

Il Silenzio (aka TAPS) - UPDATES

From a friend:
Thought all of you would enjoy this! I found this very moving.

You may never have heard the full rendition of Il Silenzio, otherwise known as "Taps". This is a most beautiful rendition.

The girl's name is Melissa Venema and is playing with maestro Andre Rieu from Maastriecht in the Netherlands. She is 13 and has been performing for years. This performance is in 2008 Masstriecht where city officials sealed off the town square and closed everything down so they get perfect noise control. Any of you that have studied music will appreciate such talent from such a 13 year old young lady. This is the first time I have ever heard the full rendition of Taps and I enjoyed it very much. It is a wonderful performance.

UPDATE - I just received this comment (which is in the comments below but I am also posting it here):
I suspect that your inspiration to post this article came from viewing my long running post on Musicouch: http://musicouch.com/musicouching/il-silenzio-and-bugle-call-a-k-a-taps/ and my blog at http://www.wdcplace.blogspot.com/. To my knowledge, I am the only person on the web who has dubbed il Silenzio as Taps. I did so after much research - read the comments on Musicouch. You might want to link my two addresses to your post since your material came from my posts. Wess
UPDATE #2: I just received another comment (which is in the comments below) but I am also posting it here since it, too, adds to the information about this piece of music:
Correct information on this piece can be found at:

www.tapsbugler.com/bugle-calls-in-other-nations/

Bottom line. It's a nice piece of music but

IT IS NOT TAPS
Thanks to both people who posted--it's great to learn more via people who are generous with their time and their knowledge!

UPDATE #3:

FROM A FRIEND: The link to the performance has been around before but I have never seen the story of the performance. At least one country celebrates their liberation by the Americans.
About six miles from Maastricht, in the Netherlands, lie buried 8,301 American soldiers who died in "Operation Market Garden" in the battles to liberate Holland in the fall and winter of 1944. Every one of the men buried in the cemetery, as well as those in the Canadian and British military cemeteries, has been adopted by a Dutch family who mind the grave, decorate it, and keep alive the memory of the soldier they have adopted. It is even the custom to keep a portrait of "their" American soldier in a place of honor in their home. Annually, on "Liberation Day," memorial services are held for "the men who died to liberate Holland." The day concludes with a concert. The final piece is always "Il Silenzio," a memorial piece commissioned by the Dutch and first played in 1965 on the 20th anniversary of Holland's liberation. It has been the concluding piece of the memorial concert ever since.

This year the soloist was a 13-year-old Dutch girl, Melissa Venema, backed by André Rieu and his orchestra (the Royal Orchestra of the Netherlands). This beautiful concert piece is based upon the original version of taps and was composed by Italian composer Nino Rossi.

Meditation

"The biggest thing before shooting is to slow your heart rate down," Ranstad told The Post last week. "You want to be comfortable. I'm taking slow, deep breaths."

Beat.

"It's almost like a meditation. I'm not thinking of anything. I'm just ready to take that guy out."...

Ranstad later heard through the sniper grapevine that the shot was the longest by an American sniper in Afghanistan - and wasn't too far from the 7,972 foot kill in 2002 by Canadian Army Cpl. Rob Furlong. Since Ranstad's kill, a British soldier, Craig Harrison set a new distance record when he shot two Taliban from 8,120 feet last year.

Memorial Day 2010 - More up and More down
On Monday, Americans will go to the lake or the park, they will eat hot dogs, bratwurst and hamburgers. There will be parades, fireworks and concerts. Please enjoy this Holiday which marks the beginning of summer. Just remember that my fellow Soldiers and I will spend the day running convoys, kicking down doors, training Iraqis and doing whatever else Uncle Sam requires of us in this war zone. As our Battalion Commander reiterated recently after an Explosively Formed Projectile attack missed killing two of our Soldiers by less than a second, “The enemy is still out there and he still gets a vote on what happens.” We will gladly do our part for the country we all dearly love, and all that we ask is that you recognize our fallen, rejoice in the triumphs those sacrifices have bought, and never forget those of us still fighting.

Sestak cover story starts to unravel

As it turns out, he wasn't even eligible for the position that the cover-up story has provided!

Short of publicly kicking Benjamin Netanyahu in the groin I can’t think of any clearer signal the Obama White House could have sent regarding their attitude towards, and plans for, Israel

On Memorial Day...A Soldier of the Great War

During the mid-1990's, after making a simple (or so I thought) request to transfer to another department within Universal Studios, I found myself embroiled in a lawsuit with the company, removed from my post in lower management, and temporarily parked in the now defunt in-house 'temp pool'.

One day, in a deep drawyer behind my desk, I saw an obviously used paperback that the regular inhabitant of the post had stowed away--it was A Soldier of the Great War.

Being bored, I started reading and, by the time I finished a week or so later, I was blown away by Mark Helprin's book. One Amazon.com reviewer states:
...if "A Farewell to Arms" captured the Great War from Hemingway's uniquely American perspective, Helprin, by opting for an Italian protagonist, finds a universality that eludes Hemingway, and with prose that a century hence will continue to sing, unlike Hemingway's, which already seems stilted by comparison.
Another says this:
One of the truly great works of American fiction. I will go so far to say as it is the finest work of fiction I've read written in the last half of the 20th century.
An English/History teacher with a self-admitted grim fascination for WWI writes:
Mark Helprin has written the 'perfect' book! This novel has everything - philosophy, adventure, great drama, pathos and tragedy, surrealism (of the John Irving type), comedy, romance, art history, riveting characterization, imaginative plotting and structure, and evocative writing.
You can get a taste for the reverence Mr. Helprin brings to this topic by reading his Wall Street Journal "On Memorial Day" tribute from yesterday (5/29/10)--a sample here:
The debt we owe, and in regard to which we are at present deeply in arrears, may be difficult to pay but it is easy to see. To grasp its conspicuous clarity one need only walk among the graves and pause to give proper thought to even just one life among the many. Read slowly the name, the dates, the place where everything came to an end.

I have seen lonely people of advancing age, yet as constant as angels, keeping faith to those they loved who fell in wars that current generations, not having known them, cannot even forget. The sight of them moving hesitantly among the tablets and crosses is enough to break your heart. Let that break be the father to a profound resolution to fulfill our obligation to the endless chain of the mourning and the dead. Shall we not sacrifice where required? Shall we not prove more responsible, courageous, honest, and assiduous? Shall we not illuminate our decisions with the light that comes from the stress of soul, and ever keep faith with the fallen by embracing the soldiers who fight in our name? The answer must be that we shall.

As Harvard Law Dean, Kagan Nixed Required Study of US Constitutional Law But Did Require Study of International and Foreign Law…

Currently, at Harvard, constitutional law is not required for first-year law students, or even for graduation!

The Joe Sestak admission that brother and campaign strategist Richard Sestak is coordinating a future Sestak response with the White House is certain to increase calls for a special prosecutor. It launches a whole news series of questions:

From American Spectator: Sestak: Brother Collaborating With White House

From a friend who sent me this article:
Important to remember that the road to Nixon's resignation to avoid certain impeachment began with a botched burglary at a then insignificant, little known building named The Watergate. Nixon went down not because of the break-in caper, but because he violated the constitution during the cover-up. Obamby is now in the cover-up stage, which may indeed lead to freeing America of 'our long national nightmare.' He's an incompetent, sleazy pol surrounded by sleazy Chicago thugs, and this is about to become - at last - frontpage news, despite the MSM's effort to protect this cabal.

...several top Colorado Democrats described Messina's outreach to Romanoff to The Post, including the discussion of specific jobs in the administration. They asked for anonymity because of the sensitivity of the subject.

So congratulations to the Denver Post for breaking this story. However just one "little" problem. Since that story was published, the Denver Post has been in complete lockdown mode regarding it. No followup articles. No mention at all of a job offer made by the White House to Romanoff even referenced in other related stories...
Denver Post Goes Silent on Senate Candidate Job Offer Scandal

H/T: Hugh Hewitt

UPDATE:
And in Colorado, former state House speaker Andrew Romanoff has said that Messina offered him an administration job if he dropped out of his primary campaign against Sen. Michael Bennet. One of the alleged offers was at USAID, the foreign aid agency, according to local news reports. But Romanoff announced his candidacy anyway.
