THE TURNING OF THE TIDES
The text of this volume has been divided into four parts. The first three describe a movement-how it started, what became its objectives, and to what extent those objectives were reached . These three parts are entitled : Currents, Tides, and-The Flood. The fourth part tells of the rising waters of a more recent stream, whose mounting effect gives the title to the book . Parts I, III and IV are by John Howland Snow . Part II is by the Hon . Paul W . Shafer of Michigan, Member of Congress from 1937 until his death in 1954 . The original text was delivered in the House of Representatives on March 21, 1952. Approximately two years were required for the preparation and publication.
PART I - CURRENTS - The Early Movement
On the 12th of September 1905 a group of young men met together in lower Manhattan, New York . Conditions in America were not ideal . These young men had an ideal. Consciously or not, it had been borrowed from the social structures of the Old World . The meeting took place in a loft above Peck's Restaurant, at 140 Fulton Street. Among the group were some who in later years were to become widely known for views which at that time were the catalyst bringing them together . On that day nearly sixty years ago was organized the Intercollegiate Socialist Society.

The term "Palestine" had not been invented yet.
No such thing as a "Palestinian" and if there was, the Jews were called "Palestinians" long before Arab Muslims were.
The name "Palestine" was derived from the word "Philistia" and the Philistines were originally from the Aegean and were closely related to the Greeks. Also, the Philistines only occupied a small area in the region of Gaza. The Arab Muslims who now call themselves "Palestinians" are obviously NOT Greek.
Arab Muslims claiming to be "Palestinians" is no different than if they migrated to the US and claimed to be "American Indians" in order to claim that they had a superior right to land in North America. They can't even pronounce the word "Palestine" correctly because there is no "P" sound in Arabic. They say "Falesteen" or "Balestine".
Roman Emporer Hadrian renamed the Kingdom of Judah (from which the word “Jew” was derived), Syria Palaestina ("Palestine") and Jerusalem, Aeolia Capitolina, in an attempt to eradicate Judaism after the Romans put down a Jewish Uprising in ~136AD. This happened long before Arab Muslims conquered the Holy Land.
The first mention of the expression "the people of Palestine" in a UN Document was in 1969, in UN General Assembly Resolution 2535 and the first mention of the term "the Palestinian people", in a UN Document was in 1970 in UNGA Resolution 2628.
The United Nations Human Rights Council is investigating the issue of American election laws at its gathering on minority rights in Geneva, Switzerland.. Officials from the NAACP are presenting their case against U.S. voter ID laws, arguing to the international diplomats that the requirements disenfranchise voters and suppress the minority vote.
Eight states have passed voter ID laws in the past year, voter ID proposals are pending in 32 states and the Obama administration has recently moved to block South Carolina and Texas from enacting their voter ID measures.

THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned that senior Obama administration officials have been telling foreign governments that the administration intends to support an effort next week at the United Nations to set up an independent commission, under UN auspices, to investigate Israel's behavior in the Gaza flotilla incident. The White House has apparently shrugged off concerns from elsewhere in the U.S. government that a) this is an extraordinary singling out of Israel, since all kinds of much worse incidents happen around the world without spurring UN investigations; b) that the investigation will be one-sided, focusing entirely on Israeli behavior and not on Turkey or on Hamas; and c) that this sets a terrible precedent for outside investigations of incidents involving U.S. troops or intelligence operatives as we conduct our own war on terror.Read more

There is still the US-EPA's drive to extend the Clean Air Act to include carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases as "pollutants." But with the evidence of ClimateGate in hand, EPA's attempt to provide the necessary scientific justification for its "Endangerment Finding" will surely fail. Whoever leaked the incriminating e-mails deserves a medal for saving the US economy from certain ruin.
