My Prayer for My Country
You need to read why Dennis Prager thinks that "The World Is a Cruel Place -- and If America Weakens, It Will Get Crueler"
I was just cleaning out some old files and found the following prayer "MY PRAYER for MY COUNTRY" written by Dr. Holmes and, after reading Dennis Prager's article above, I feel a great need to share this with you:
," in 1919 (two years after Woodrow Wilson, Progressive era intellectual, was narrowly re-elected as President of the United States).
In 1958, he advised:
Can you tell that he, too, was facing those who were trying to convince everyone that, in order to be prosperous and secure, they neeeded to forfeit their individual liberty?
I can.
It is a plague visited upon all the men whose need to control and dominate others feeds their insecurities and desperate desires to live by climbing upon the bodies of all who deny them the worship they insist upon, extracting adulation from all their unwilling and terrified victims by any means available.
...look at how Obama is deteriorating in this way...
Yours in freedom.
Those of us working to remove Democrats from power regard this November's election as not only a referendum on the direction of America, but of the world itself. When I was a teenager, my parents took me to see the famous spritual leader Ernest Holmes, founder of the Christian denomination called "Religous Science" (not at all related to "Christian Science").
I was just cleaning out some old files and found the following prayer "MY PRAYER for MY COUNTRY" written by Dr. Holmes and, after reading Dennis Prager's article above, I feel a great need to share this with you:
MY PRAYER for MY COUNTRYYou'll notice that I emphasized (in bold) these two items:
Believing in the Divine destiny of the United States of America and in the preservation of liberty, security, and self-expression for all, I offer this, my prayer for my country:
I know that Divine Intelligence governs the destiny of the United States of America, directing the thought and the activity of all who guide its affairs.
I know that success, prosperity, and happiness are the gifts of freedom and are the Divine heritage of everyone in this country.
I know that success, prosperity, and happiness are now operating in the affairs of every individual in this country.
I know that Divine guidance enlightens the collective mind of the people of this country, causing it to know that economic security may come to all without the loss of either personal freedom or individual self-expression.
I know that no one can believe or be led to believe that freedom must be surrendered in order to insure economic security for all.
The All-Knowing Mind contains the answer to every problem which confronts this country. I know that every leader in this country is now directed by this All-Knowing Mind and has the knowledge of a complete solution to every problem. Each is compelled to act upon this knowledge to the end that abundance, security, and peace shall come to all.
And I know that this spiritual democracy shall endure, guaranteeing to everyone in this country personal liberty, happiness, and self-expression.
I know that Divine guidance enlightens the collective mind of the people of this country, causing it to know that economic security may come to all without the loss of either personal freedom or individual self-expression.and
I know that no one can believe or be led to believe that freedom must be surrendered in order to insure economic security for all.Ernest published his first book, "Creative Mind
In 1958, he advised:
We have launched a Movement which, in the next 100 years, will be the great new religious impulsion of modern times, far exceeding, in its capacity to envelop the world, anything that has happened since Mohammedanism started.(Abstracted from the booklet Path of Discovery, prepared by Scott Awbrey, Los Angeles United Church of Religious Science, 1987.)
We have to have the same faith in what we teach and practice that the scientist has, or the gardener has, and when that great simplicity shall have plumbed and penetrated this density of ours, this human stolidness and stupidity, this debauchery of the intellect and the soul, something new and wonderful will happen. It is the only thing that will keep the world from destroying itself....

America's new culture war: Free enterprise vs. government control
Excerpt:
Arthur C. Brooks is the president of the American Enterprise Institute and the author of "The Battle: How the Fight Between Free Enterprise and Big Government Will Shape America's Future." He will be online on Monday, May 24, at 11:00 a.m. EST to chat. Submit your questions before or during the discussion.
The goal of our system should be to give all Americans the greatest opportunities possible to succeed based on their work and merit. And that's exactly what the free enterprise system does: It makes earned success possible for the most people. This is the liberty that enables the true pursuit of happiness.Read the whole thing
To win the culture war, those of us in the 70 percent majority must reclaim -- and proclaim -- the morality of our worldview.
Unfortunately, we often fail to do this...
To win, the 70 percent majority must come together around core principles: that the purpose of free enterprise is human flourishing, not materialism; that we stand for equality of opportunity, not equality of income; that we seek to stimulate true prosperity rather than simply treat poverty; and that we believe in principle over power.
This final idea is particularly challenging.

VAT: the end of economic freedom as we know it
The reason why elites in Washington would look to a VAT before increasing income taxes (and, believe me, higher income taxes are coming) is because not enough of the population even pays income taxes to make it worthwhile for the government to use the income tax structure to balance the budget... the government can extract the most amount of your wealth from a national sales tax.Obama’s National Sales Tax

The Transformation of the American Dream into the American Nightmare
If you haven't seen the movie that is referenced in the opening of this article, you really should!
In the movie Moscow on the Hudson (1984) Vladimir Ivanoff, a frustrated jazz musician living in the overregulated and dysfunctional USSR escapes to New York City, only to be initially bewildered and then angered by the chaotic freedom he sees around him. Eventually Ivanoff comes to realize that America is not a utopia, but rather a society in which you are free to be responsible for your own happiness.
The contrast between the film's vision of a repressive and corrupt Moscow, where there are laws for everything, yet everyone lives outside the law because everything you want requires going outside the system, and its vision of New York City, where there seem to be virtually no laws for anything, but yet everything you could want is available if you can find a way to get it-- aptly marks the contrast between the planned and the unplanned society.
That contrast once lay at the heart of the American Dream, of a country where you have the freedom to achieve anything if you strive for it. But while the rhetoric of the American Dream is used just as often by politicians, it has come to mean something else nowadays, namely government subsidized goodies to help you "realize" the American Dream. This subtle distinction has transformed the American Dream from one of individualistic independence, to one of government dependency.
The Democrats promise that if we give them power, they will rule with a level of fairness that we ourselves are not capable of. And when they have looted all the treasury, and have their mobs to bay for anyone's blood who questions them, when there is a law and a rule for everything, but no one obeys them if they can get away with it, when there is a smiling tyrant on every wall offering us a tenth of our own income back in government coupons... then we will truly be a progressive society that any student of history would recognize.Read the whole thing!
The American Dream is not a mere dream of commerce, but a dream of freedom. Freedom in labor, freedom in industry, freedom in thought and speech, and freedom of association. That is the American Dream we are fighting for. That is the American Dream that the left is fighting against. We can best defeat the left by offering the American Dream as the antidote to the American Nightmare.

Free Book: Make the Poor Rich and America Wealthier
CHATSWORTH, CA (PRWEB) August 20, 2007. Author Dick McDonald exposes why Americans are so angry at Congress and how the people can fix the problem. McDonald introduces the “Rise Up Theory of Economics” which does for the poor and middle-class in America what “Trickle Down” has done for the rich. The Rise Up Theory is based on the premise that Americans like their government small and their take-home pay big and they want Congress to stop their reckless spending habits.
McDonald, a lifelong “tax man” first as a CPA for an international accounting firm and then as a tax shelter promoter turns his focus and energies from helping the rich to helping the American worker become rich.. For ten years he prepared J. Paul Getty’s personal and trust income tax returns. His ideas warrant your attention.
McDonald explains why centuries of taking from the rich and giving to the poor has not made the poor richer. For the poorest it has merely made them a dependent class; for ordinary Americans their hard earned money ends up in the pocket of the rich or as taxes confiscated by their government. Rise Up reverses that dynamic and invites the poor and middle class to the economic party – to the American Dream.
In his book McDonald exposes why the poor and middle-class seldom have enough money to retire on. The reason he explains is that they never acquire a pool of capital to invest in the American economy and benefit by its growth and built-in inflation. In “Rise Up Theory of Economics” McDonald gets them that pool of capital and does it with their own earnings. Instead of wasting the money by giving 15.3% of their lifetime earnings to the government in the form of payroll taxes, McDonald suggests that those monies be invested during an American’s working life in a PERSONAL INVESTMENT ACOOUNT which will grow into a million-dollar nest egg OWNED by the individual worker.. Congressmen and Senators HAVE these “personal accounts.” WHY NOT ORDINARY AMERICAN TAXPAYERS?
Get Dick McDonald’s new e-book “Make the Poor Rich and America Wealthier” free by clicking www.hstrial-rmcdonald1.homestead.com/FreeBookRequest.html. It illustrates a better way for America and Americans to grow richer socially and economically.
Prior to the distribution of this press release, all candidates for President have had their campaigns alerted to the reform suggested in Dick McDonald’s book. The McLaughlin survey makes it clear that voters want entitlement reform to be a major part of the national conversation during the 2008 presidential campaign. Ninety-six percent of voters said it is important that "a candidate for President in 2008 concentrates on the present and future problems with Social Security and Medicare by discussing and demonstrating a REALISTIC PLAN to provide retirement security for current and future retirees.” Yet not one Presidential campaign website offers even the hint of such a plan.
McDonald proves that America can afford the cost to change from the present system to personal accounts. He floors the retirement benefits at their present levels so Congress can no longer reduce benefits or raise taxes and continue the farce of pay-as-you-go funding that sticks our kids with the bill.
Under Rise Up, the government would guarantee that all benefits payable to retirees under the old system would be honored. There will be no danger that pension checks or medical benefits will be cut; in fact depending on the success of Rise Up they may be raised.
Under Rise Up, the average household earning $40,000 a-year would end up with a $3.2 million nest egg at the end of a 40-year working life and a $28,000 a-month retirement check. (2007 dollars) McDonald provides detailed schedules on just how that works. Under the old Social Security there is no nest egg created – just a paltry monthly check until you die.
Rise Up proves that capitalism can solve the riddle of poverty. What could be simpler than saving 15% of your lifetime earnings invested in a proven vehicle of growth – indexed stock funds?
In 2006, Americans spent 1 ½% more than they earned. Under Rise Up 15% of their earnings will go directly into the capital markets (stocks and bonds) thereby fueling an explosive growth in the economy – the economy Americans will be investing in.
Enacting Rise Up legislation is what ordinary Americans want. Congress has made the excuse there is little discretionary room in the budget because of “mandated entitlements.” Rise Up replaces mandated entitlements. It eliminates that excuse.

You'll be surprised...VERY surprised!
Ranked by the Heritage Foundation and the Wall Street Journal.
The Heritage Foundation and the Wall Street Journal recently released their 13th annual Index of Economic Freedom, which identifies the variables that comprise economic freedom and analyzes the interaction of freedom with wealth. The Index measures 157 countries across 10 specific factors of economic freedom.
10. Canada
Canada’s economy is 78.7% free. A strong rule of law ensures property rights, a low level of corruption, and transparent application of the country’s admittedly thorough commercial code. However, as in many European democracies, government spending is high because Canada maintains elaborate social programs and a welfare state.
9. Switzerland
Switzerland’s economy is 79.1% free. Commercial operations are protected by the regulatory environment and aided by a flexible labor market. The national financial sector leads the world and is both protective of privacy and open to foreign institutions. But as in many other European social democracies, personal income taxes are high.
8. Luxembourg
Luxembourg’s economy is 79.3% free. The average tariff rate is low (though non-tariff barriers include EU subsidies), and business regulation is efficient. The financial sector is regarded as a global financial hub that maintains depositor secrecy. However, total government spending is more than two-fifths of GDP.
7. Ireland
Ireland’s economy is 81.3% free. Entrepreneurship is made easy by the light regulatory hand of government. Inflation is low, but Ireland’s monetary score suffers somewhat from distortionary EU agricultural subsidies. Property rights are well protected by an efficient, independent judiciary.
6. United Kingdom
The United Kingdom’s economy is 81.6% free. The average tariff rate is low, although the government does implement distortionary European Union agricultural tariffs. Support for private enterprise is a world model, and the financial sector is modern and a historic world hub. The judiciary should be the envy of the world.
5. New Zealand
New Zealand’s economy is 81.6% free. A globally competitive financial system based on market principles attracts many foreign banks, helped by low inflation and low tariff rates. A strong rule of law protects property rights, and New Zealand is the world’s second most corruption-free country.
4. United States
The economy of the United States is 82% free. The average tariff rate is low, although there are several non-tariff barriers. Financial markets are open to foreign competition and are the world’s most dynamic and modern. Corruption is low and the labor market is highly flexible.
3. Australia
Australia’s economy is 82.7% free. Its low inflation and low tariff rates buttress a globally competitive financial system. A strong rule of law protects property rights and tolerates virtually no corruption. Businesses enjoy considerable flexibility in licensing, regulation and employment practices.
2. Singapore
Singapore’s economy is 85.7% free. Virtually all commercial operations are performed with transparency and speed, and private enterprise has boomed. Inflation is low, and foreign investment is welcomed and given equal treatment. There are no tariffs. Singapore’s legal system is highly protective of private property.
1. Hong Kong
Hong Kong’s economy is 89.3% free. Income and corporate tax rates are extremely low. Business regulation is simple, and the labor market is highly flexible. Inflation is low, although the government distorts the prices of several staples. Investment in Hong Kong is wide open.
