California State Assembly records: Obama received grant as foreign exchange student from Indonesia

Obama's legal name then was Barry Soetoro and his closest friends at Occidental College were three Pakistani's named Wahid Hamid, Sohale Siddiqi, and Mohammed Hassan Chandoo. Obama and Hamid traveled to Pakistan in 1981...

Neil Sankey and Susan Daniels combed through dozens of public databases and now allege that Obama has used multiple social security numbers during his life...none of the numbers that Obama used were issued by the State of Hawaii.

2/13/1974

"Man has forgotten God, that is why this has happened" was Solzhenitsyn's response when questioned about the decline of modern culture.

A Russian author, Solzhenitsyn was imprisoned for eight years by Joseph Stalin, as he described in his autobiography, Les Prix Nobel: "I was arrested on the grounds of what the censorship had found in my correspondence with a school friend, mainly because of certain disrespectful remarks about Stalin, although we referred to him in disguised terms. A further basis for the 'charge' were drafts of stories and reflections which had been found in my map case."

Solzhenitsyn was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1970 for writing The Gulag Archipelago, but the Communist government did not allowed him to leave the country to accept it. Finally, under international pressure, the Soviet Union expelled him on FEBRUARY 13, 1974.

The following year in Washington, D.C., Alexander Solzhenitsyn warned: "I...call upon America to be more careful..because they are trying to weaken you...to disarm your strong and magnificent country in the face of this fearful threat-one that has never been seen before in the history of the world."

College student shoots home invader, saves 10 lives...

Yet another reason to keep a gun in the house!

Several months ago, in the notoriously dangerous neighborhood of College Park in Atlanta, Georgia, two armed criminals broke into a house party of students.

After confiscating the group's valuables, the invaders split the men and women up into different rooms.

Witnesses say the perpetrators then counted their rounds and discussed if they had "enough" ammunition.

The students believe the gunmen were going to rape and murder the entire group of students, who were celebrating a birthday at the end of the semester.

However, one male student, whose identity is being protected by police and local media, retrieved a handgun from his backpack and fired at the thug who was detaining the men.

(That is: One smart student had prepared for a night in College Park, Atlanta.)

The criminal fled the apartment under the threat of injury and never returned.

The student, continuing on into the girls' room, found the other thug, 23-year-old Calvin Lavant, preparing to rape his first victim.

The student exchanged gunfire with Lavant, lethally wounding him in the process. Lavant fled through a window and died in front of his apartment, only one building away.

One of the female students was injured during the exchange, but doctors expect a full and complete recovery.

So what's the point

A student saved the girls from rape, and saved the whole group of 10 people (including himself) from murder . . . and he did it with a handgun.

This is a perfect example of how ludicrous "big city gun laws" are. What if this had happened in New York, Chicago, or any of the other big cities that criminalize their citizens' self defense?

Yes, we would be reading an entirely different story -- one so horrendous that we would shudder at the very words.

Either this whole group of friends would have been raped and murdered by these two sorry excuses for human beings . . . or the hero of this story would be facing prison time for firearm possession and murder.

Thankfully, however, Atlanta hasn't outlawed self-defense yet. And since someone had a gun and was willing to use it, innocent life was preserved.

Congratulations to the unnamed hero of this story. You saved your friends' lives.

When Deficits Become Dangerous

Welcome to our great fiscal Titanic! Here are a few highlights from this WSJ article today:
Mr. Obama and Congress added hundreds of billions of dollars a year of ineffective "stimulus" spending—more accurately characterized as social engineering and pork—when far more effective, less expensive options were available.

The Obama 10-year budget—unprecedented in its spending, taxes, deficits and accumulation of debt—is by a large margin the most risky fiscal strategy in American history. [emphasis mine] In his Feb. 1 budget message, Mr. Obama said, "We cannot continue to borrow against our children's future." But that is exactly what he proposes to do.

Former Senate Majority Leader Howard Baker famously called Reaganomics—with its defense buildup, tax cuts and budget deficits—a "riverboat gamble." (Which, by the way, worked out well.) Mr. Obama's fiscal strategy is more akin to the voyage of the Titanic. Let's hope he changes course soon enough to prevent disaster.

The Exodus Conspiracy

A film that could potentially verify the historical accuracy of much of the Bible is getting a major expansion, causing its producers to be extra sensitive to modern political concerns and anxious fans to wait even longer for its release.

With a new working title of "The Exodus Conspiracy," the movie was initially targeted for release in the spring of 2007. But, despite about 10 years of work, the producers have not launched it yet because the scope of the project has increased dramatically.

Budget shock: Rotten to the AmeriCorps

Among the most wasteful of the spending increases hidden in President Obama's 2011 budget proposal is his plan to create an army of government-funded community organizers at the shocking price of $1.4 billion. While the economy reels and many taxpayers are looking for ways to trim their personal spending, the president is demanding a whopping 59 percent boost for the Corporation for National and Community Service and its best-known program, AmeriCorps. It's time to pull the plug on both.

All we are left with now is three more years of the president’s “Bush did it” mantra and a buffoonish Robert Gibbs...

Obama is not merely flipping and triangulating on issues in a desperate attempt to shadow the polls, but he is doing so on matters that he once swore were absolutely central to his entire candidacy and his signature hope-and-change agenda, critical to the future of the U.S., and proof of his opponents’ either ignorance or disingenuousness...After a single year of governance, there is now scarcely a single issue that Obama & Co. have not backtracked on, flip-flopped, redefined, or quietly dropped — mostly matters that were once demagogued to score political points.
The Truth Is a Precious Commodity

2/11/1861

On FEBRUARY 11, 1861, newly elected President Abraham Lincoln left Springfield, Illinois, for the U.S. Capital, never to return. In his Farewell Speech he said: "I now leave, not knowing when or whether ever I may return, with a task before me greater than that which rested upon Washington. Without the assistance of that Divine Being who ever attended him, I cannot succeed. With that assistance I cannot fail."

Lincoln continued: "Trusting in Him who can go with me and remain with you, and be everywhere for good, let us confidently hope that all will yet be well...Let us all pray that the God of our fathers may not forsake us now.."

Forty-five days before his assassination, Lincoln stated in his Second Inaugural Address, March 4, 1865: "Both read the same Bible and pray to the same God...The prayers of both could not be answered...If God will that it continue until all the wealth piled by the bondsmen's two hundred and fifty years of unrequited toil shall be sunk, and until every drop of blood drawn with the lash shall be paid by another drawn with the sword, as was said three thousand years ago, so still it must be said 'the Judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.'"

How to Think About the Healthcare Debate?

by Michael Daily

Pastor and former Executive Director of the Pregnancy Resource Center of Metropolitan Richmond (VA)
Perhaps the key insight relevant to the healthcare debate is this: when the executive branch consolidates for itself the power of the judicial and legislative functions (as is now the case with federal agencies) the effects of all other institutions are marginalized. When these other institutions are marginalized, what is lost are the sources of positive moral transformation. Thus proceeds a populace spiraling downward, less and less able to care for themselves, who then turn to government to solve their problems, while the head of the government utilizes the opportunity to become more powerful and entrenched in office.

In my opinion, this has already taken place to a considerable degree...

Floyd Brown: Disturbed by Beck, O'Reilly and Breitbart

I believe that one of the best reasons to impeach Obama is his failure to produce a long-form birth certificate. He may not be constitutionally qualified to serve as President. Congressional legislation called 'a sexual revolutionary's dream'

A homosexual congressman from Colorado has proposed a law critics say would give controversial federal school safety czar Kevin Jennings – a longtime homosexual-rights advocate – almost unlimited authority to mandate indoctrination in public schools at taxpayer expense.

"It doesn't get much more fascist than this! It's a sexual revolutionary's dream," wrote Linda Harvey of Mission America.

Congressional proposals could penalize couples $10,000 for saying 'I do'

Bills pending in Congress that would nationalize health care by setting up mandatory insurance purchases and fines for not complying could penalize married couples $10,000 annually and are a direct attack on marriage, families and the church because of their discriminatory provisions, according to a congressional candidate.

"This is as awful, I will say evil ... this is as evil as it gets," Allen Quist, who is running to unseat Democrat Tim Walz in Minnesota's 1st congressional district, told WND.

Obama Submits Largest Budget in History, But Networks Portray Him as Fiscal Conservative

President Obama just submitted a $3.8 trillion budget proposal, the largest federal budget ever, which will come with a "record amount of red ink." The projected deficit of that budget would be $1.6 trillion, yet the networks didn't criticize him for being spendy.

To put this in perspective: Obama is proposing a budget $700 billion larger than big spender Pres. George W. Bush's last budget. It's TWICE the size of Pres. Bill Clinton's last budget of $1.9 trillion, who was credited with generating a budget surplus.

Despite the "staggering" size of Obama's budget, which broadcast networks admitted was "dripping with red ink," the reports managed to paint him as a fiscal conservative and deficit slasher.

Hurtling Down the Road to Serfdom

by John Stossel:
Government is taking us a long way down the Road to Serfdom. That doesn't just mean that more of us must work for the government. It means that we are changing from independent, self-responsible people into a submissive flock. The welfare state kills the creative spirit.

F.A. Hayek, an Austrian economist living in Britain, wrote "The Road to Serfdom

" in 1944 as a warning that central economic planning would extinguish freedom...The book was a hit. Reader's Digest produced a condensed version that sold 5 million copies.

Hayek meant that governments can't plan economies without planning people's lives. After all, an economy is just individuals engaging in exchanges. The scientific-sounding language of President Obama's economic planning hides the fact that people must shelve their own plans in favor of government's single plan.

At the beginning of "The Road to Serfdom," Hayek acknowledges that mere material wealth is not all that's at stake when the government controls our lives: "The most important change ... is a psychological change, an alteration in the character of the people."

This shouldn't be controversial. If government relieves us of the responsibility of living by bailing us out, character will atrophy. The welfare state, however good its intentions of creating material equality, can't help but make us dependent. That changes the psychology of society.

I'll explore this tomorrow night on my Fox Business show, 8 p.m. Eastern (rebroadcast Friday at 10 p.m.).

Jamie Glasov: Mr. Beck, thank you for having the courage and integrity to tell the truth about communism...Glenn Beck, you are a hero to me!

...today we have a best friend in the West who has our back. We aren’t orphans anymore. There is a certain individual in this land, by the name of Glenn Beck, who has a television show on the Fox News Channel with a mass following; he is masterfully exposing this phenomenon that we experienced — and are still experiencing. He is telling the truth about the Soviet regime and about communism and he is beaming a light on leftists and liberals for their long romance, which continues till this day, with communist systems and the ideologies that brought them into place. Just recently, Beck’s program featured his profound documentary, The Revolutionary Holocaust, which powerfully illustrates the evil of communism and the leftist ideals that brought its horrors into existence. Beck’s documentary exposes the crimes against humanity perpetrated by mass murderers such as Che Guevara and Mao Zedong, who, till this day, enjoy great idolization in leftist milieus and, as we know, in the Obama White House itself.

I would like to take this moment to express my deepest and heartfelt gratitude to Glenn Beck...

Who was the first President to die in office?

"Tippecanoe and Tyler too" was the campaign slogan of 9th President William Henry Harrison, born FEBRUARY 9, 1773. He was the first President to die in office, serving the shortest term of only 30 days.

The son of Benjamin Harrison, signer the Declaration, and grandfather of Benjamin Harrison, the 23rd President, William Henry Harrison was aide-de-camp to General "Mad Anthony" Wayne, who defeated the British and Indian forces at the Battle of Fallen Timbers.

Harrison became Secretary of the Northwest Territory - 260,000 square miles from which was formed Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. He was the area's first delegate to Congress and in 1801 became Governor of the Indiana Territory. Harrison disrupted Chief Tecumseh's confederation at the Battle of Tippecanoe.

In his Inaugural Address, 1841, William Henry Harrison stated: "I deem the present occasion sufficiently important and solemn to justify me in expressing to my fellow citizens a profound reverence for the Christian religion, and a thorough conviction that sound morals, religious liberty, and a just sense of religious responsibility are essentially connected with all true and lasting happiness."

OBAMA'S BIRTH CERTIFICATION AMENDED AFTER 45-YEARS TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT

What would a person legitimately correct 45 years after the birth – after having used that birth certificate for 45 years whenever documentation was needed and never challenging the facts contained on it?

The President should keep uppermost in his mind the biblical admonition as to what happens to those trees that do not bear "good fruit". The axe is already at the tree...

Obama’s West Wing is filled with people who are in their jobs because of their Chicago connections or because they signed on with Obama early during the presidential campaign.

One problem is that they do not have sufficient experience at governing at the executive branch level.

The deeper problem is that they are not listening to the people.

Hearing is one thing; listening is another.

Some are even questioning whether Mr. Obama has forgotten how he got elected and the promises he made to the people who elected him.

Don't take my word for any of this. Look at the clear message the American people have been sending at the polls these past few months.

Obama statue in Indonesia to come down

The Boys Scouts of America was incorporated FEBRUARY 8, 1910

Sir Robert Baden-Powell began the movement in England two years prior. A hero of the South African Boer Wars, Sir Baden-Powell's troops were besieged 200 days by an overwhelming army, but his resourcefulness saved his men.

The Boy Scouts are now the largest voluntary youth movement in the world, with membership over 25 million. In the pamphlet Scouting & Christianity, 1917, Baden-Powell wrote: "Scouting is nothing less than applied Christianity." The Scout Oath states: "On my honor, I will do my best: To do my duty to God and my country, and to obey the Scout Law, To help other people at all times. To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight."

In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge addressed a gathering of Boy Scouts in New York: "The three fundamentals of scouthood are reverence for nature...reverence for law...and reverence for God. It is hard to see how a great man can be an atheist. Doubters do not achieve." President Coolidge concluded: "No man realizes his full possibilities unless he has the deep conviction that life is eternally important, and that his work, well done, is part of an unending plan."

It's not who you know, it's what you know

On recommendation of an informal mentor, I have just started reading Strategic Acceleration: Succeed at the Speed of Life. I'd told him I really didn't want to read yet another self-help, motivational type of book, but he went out of his way to convince me.

Well, right from the start Tony Jeary talks about clarity and how the things you believe impact your results and that there is great value in changing our 'strategic' beliefs when necessary.

Days later, after trying out Daily Inspirations - from Christianity.com - I saw this and it does reinforce the idea that we can get too comfortable with unexamined beliefs that work to our disadvantage:

Cracks in the Wall
by Charles R. Swindoll

Matthew 15:1-9; Mark 7:1-13; Colossians 2:8-23

The longer I live the less I know for sure.

That sounds like 50% heresy . . . but it's 100% honesty. In my younger years I had a lot more answers than I do now. Things were absolutely black and white, right or wrong, yes or no, in or out, but a lot of that is beginning to change. The more I travel and read and wrestle and think the less simplistic things seem.

I now find myself uncomfortable with sweeping generalities . . . with neat little categories and well-defined classifications.

Take people, for example. They cannot be squeezed into pigeon holes. People and situations are far more complex than most of us are willing to admit.

• Not all Episcopalians are liberal.
• Not all athletes are thickheaded.
• Not all Republicans are Christian good guys.
• Not all collegians are rebels.
• Not all artists are kooks.
• Not all movies are questionable.
• Not all questions are answerable.
• Not all verses are clear.
• Not all problems are easily solved.
• Not all deaths are explainable.

Maybe the list comes as a jolt. Great! Jolts are fine if they make you think. We evangelicals are good at building rigid walls out of dogmatic stones . . . cemented together by the mortar of tradition.

We erect these walls in systematic circles—then place within each our over-simplified, ultra-inflexible "position." Within each fortress we build human machines that are programmed not to think but to say the "right" things and respond the "right" way at any given moment. Our self-concept remains undisturbed and secure since no challenging force is ever allowed over the walls. Occasionally, however, a strange thing happens—a little restlessness springs up within the walls. A few ideas are challenged. Questions are entertained. Alternative options are then released. Talk about threat! Suddenly our superprotected, cliché-ridden answers don't cut it. Our over-simplified package offers no solution. The stones start to shift as the mortar cracks.

Two common reactions are available to us. One: We can maintain the status quo "position" and patch the wall by resisting change with rigidity. Two: We can openly admit "I do not know," as the wall crumbles. Then we can do some new thinking by facing the facts as they actually are. The first approach is the most popular. We are masters at rationalizing around our inflexible behavior. We imply that change always represents a departure from the truth of Scripture.

Now some changes do pull us away from Scripture. They must definitely be avoided. But let's be absolutely certain that we are standing on scriptural rock, not traditional sand. We have a changeless message—Jesus Christ—but He must be proclaimed in a changing, challenging era. Such calls for a breakdown of stone walls and breakthrough of fresh, keen thinking based on scriptural insights. No longer can we offer tired, trite statements that are as stiff and tasteless as last year's gum beneath the pew. The thinking person deserves an intelligent, sensible answer. He is weary of oversimplified bromides mouthed by insensitive robots within the walls.

Perhaps by now my words sound closer to 90% heresy. All I ask is that you examineyour life. Socrates once said,

The unexamined life is not worth living.

If you've stopped thinking and started going through unexamined motions, you've really stopped living and started existing.

That kind of "life" isn't much fun, nor very rewarding. I'd call it about 100% heresy . . . and only 50% honesty.

Palin 'Would Be Willing' to Take On Obama in 2012

Sarah Palin has President Obama in her sights, telling FoxNews.com she "would be willing" to challenge him in the 2012 presidential race.

The former Alaska governor, in an interview Saturday on the sidelines of the National Tea Party Convention in Nashville, said President Obama's "lack of experience" has held him back his first year in office and that she would put her credentials up against his any day.

"I would be willing to if I believe that it's right for the country," Palin said when asked if she would run for president in 2012.

She qualified the statement, adding that she sees "many" other potential candidates who are "in as strong or stronger position than I am to take on the White House and if they're in a better position than I in three years, I'll support them."

But the former GOP vice presidential nominee told "Fox News Sunday": "I won't close the door that perhaps could be open for me in the future."

February 7: Frederick Douglass

Frederick Baily was born FEBRUARY 7, 1817. Though against the law for a slave, he learned to read. At age 20, he escaped to Massachusetts and changed his name to Frederick Douglass to hide from slave catchers.

He began debating, developing oratory skills and exposing the injustices of slavery. William Lloyd Garrison hired him to sell subscriptions to The Liberator Newspaper. Frederick Douglass published his best-selling autobiography, but with his identity now known, he had to flee to England to avoid slave-catchers.

He was enthusiastically received and met with reformer Daniel O'Connell. English friends raised money to buy his freedom and he returned to New York, founding the North Star Newspaper. Writing for abolition and women's suffrage, his motto was "Right is of no sex-Truth is of no color-God is the Father of us all, and we are all Brethren."

An advisor to President Lincoln, Frederick Douglass told the story of his conversion: "I loved all mankind, slaveholder not excepted, though I abhorred slavery more than ever. NEWSWEEK: The president needs to tell the truth on taxes, entitlements, and how to really reform health care—before it's too late.

Obama’s Other Deficit

Social Security Goes into the Red in 2010 not 2018

by Dick McDonald - Ownership Society Institute

In 2010 the Congressional Budget Office has projected a $92 billion surplus of payroll tax receipts over Social Security benefits paid. That figure includes $120 billion in “non-cash” receipts of fictional interest paid on fictional US Bonds – a bookkeeping trick like Enron used to cover up Congress’s theft of over $4 trillion of excess payroll tax receipts it has been appropriating from Social Security since the early 80’s. See here.

http://finance.yahoo.com/focus-retirement/article/108747/next-in-line-for-a-bailout-social-security?mod=fidelity-readytoretire

That means that by September, 2010 the US Government will need a $28 billion cash infusion just to meet its Social Security obligations. So much for the age-old denial that Social Security isn’t broke. That it has unfulfilled promises of over $14 trillion in future benefits in excess of projected receipts. Similarly Medicare is in the tank for $93 trillion. The jig is up and the Democrats and RINOs have no where to go on this issue.

The real benefit to be gleaned from this is that Americans will seriously try to solve this problem by any means other than raising taxes and/or cutting benefits. Believe me Americans will insist on it. The baby boomers will demand their full benefits as they come on stream in the next 15 years and the kids will resort to violence if they are unfairly taxed because it will take 2 kids to support one retiree

President Obama has challenged the Republicans to come up with some ideas to solve the dilemma and the best they came up so far is Paul Ryan’s proposal to raise the retirement age to 70 years (benefit cut of major import), cut the Medicare benefits (benefit cut of major import) and allow a small portion of a worker’s payroll taxes be invested in a personal investment retirement account (step in the right direction).

The real tragedy is that current benefits don’t begin to cover retirement costs and trying to save these entitlements is merely rearranging the deck chairs on the titanic. What Americans want and will insist on is a re do of the funding of retirement costs so that more than the solvency of the government entitlement programs is achieved. Bush limited his Social Security reform to solving the solvency issue – Ryan appears to have limited his approach to solvency as well. There should be no limitations placed on what Americans can do in solving this issue.

We at the Ownership Society Institute (OSI) recommend these entitlement programs be scrapped with the proviso that the government guarantee that all benefits under them will be honored and form the floor under which no future benefits can ever fall.

In place of these programs we institute personal investment accounts we like to call “USAs” – Universal Savings Accounts. That into these accounts the entire 15.3% of payroll taxes presently sent to Congress will be redirected and immediately invested in the stock market for the 40-year working life of every taxpayer. The details of OSI’s plan are outlined here. It is called the Rise Up America plan.

In addition to solving the solvency issue RUA does the following:

· Generate the biggest tax cut in history

· Reduce the size of government by half

· Alleviate poverty and economically emancipate lower class citizens

· Infuse enormous sums directly into the economy and accelerate growth

· Eliminate the need for government pensions and Medicare

· Pay off $110 trillion of unfunded Social Security and Medicare liabilities

· Give back to Americans the money that they earn

· Increase the economic opportunities of all Americans

· Avoids Bankruptcies of cities, counties and states from pension liabilities

· Makes everyone a shareholder and responsible for oversight

· Reduces crimes especially those triggered by poverty

There a hundreds of other benefits of privatizing the entitlements but let’s leave it to a simple example.

The average American household makes over $50,000 a year and pays more than $7,500 in payroll taxes. Under RUA those taxes are placed into a USA and immediately invested in the stock market for 40 years. The $300,000 (40 years times $7,500 a year) grows into a $4,004,000 nest egg because of the magic of compounding. Just the annual income off that nest egg will generate a $33,000 a month retirement check – more than enough to support an affluent lifestyle.

RUA uses the principle of small government and takes away from government the responsibility to fund entitlements. It relies on the words of Alfred Einstein as everyone should. “The most powerful force in the universe is compound interest.”

All those concerns about such a sea change in the way the government does what its citizens will want is explained at www.riseupamerica.us including how to simultaneously fund the transition, place $1.3 trillion into the stock market annually, pay benefits under the old programs and miraculously enough increase the value of the US dollar. See here.

I wonder if sometimes He isn't waiting for us to wake up, He isn't maybe running out of patience."

At Reunion Arena in Dallas, 1984, Ronald Reagan stated:

"America needs God more than God needs America. If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a Nation gone under."

Classic Quotes by Ronald Reagan (1911-2004) American President

Government does not solve problems; it subsidizes them.

--------------------

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidise it.

--------------------

Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have.

---------------------

Before I refuse to take your questions, I have an opening statement.

--------------------

But there are advantages to being elected President. The day after I was elected, I had my high school grades classified Top Secret.

--------------------

Concentrated power has always been the enemy of liberty.

--------------------

Double, no triple, our troubles and we'd still be better off than any other people on earth. It is time that we recognized that ours was, in truth, a noble cause.

--------------------

Freedom prospers when religion is vibrant and the rule of law under God is acknowledged.

--------------------

Going to college offered me the chance to play football for four more years.

--------------------

My fellow Americans, I am pleased to tell you I just signed legislation which outlaws Russia forever. The bombing begins in five minutes.

--------------------

I have left orders to be awakened at any time in case of national emergency - even if I'm in a Cabinet meeting.

--------------------

I couldn't help but say to Mr. Gorbachev just think how easy his task and mine might be in these meetings that we held if suddenly there was a threat to this world from another planet. We'd find out once and for all that we really are all human beings here on this earth together.

--------------------

They say hard work never hurt anybody, but, I figure, why take the chance?

--------------------

History teaches that war begins when governments believe the price of aggression is cheap.

I am not worried about the deficit. It is big enough to take care of itself.

Politically Speaking, Populist Isn’t Popular, But Conservative Is

Populist is the least popular of five common political labels, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of likely voters. It’s more fashionable to be viewed as a conservative, less so to be called a progressive, the label adopted by many liberals.

Also, there's a great article in the Wall Street Journal called A Short History of American Populism" where author Micahel Barone reminds us that "Andrew Jackson argued that government interference in the economy would inevitably favor the well-connected."

For parents of teenagers: The Children's Bill of Rights

Poem to MOM

My daughter came home from school one day,
With a smirk upon her face.
She decided she was smart enough,
To put me in my place.

'Guess what I learned in Civics Two,
that's taught by Mr. Wright?
It's all about the laws today,
The 'Children's Bill of Rights.'

It says I need not clean my room,
Don't have to cut my hair
No one can tell me what to think,
Or speak, or what to wear.

I have freedom from religion,
And regardless what you say,
I don't have to bow my head,
And I sure don't have to pray.

I can wear earrings if I want,
And pierce my tongue & nose.
I can read & watch just what I like,
Get tattoos from head to toe.

And if you ever spank me,
I'll charge you with a crime.
I'll back up all my charges,
With the marks on my behind.

Don't you ever touch me,
My body's only for my use,
Not for your hugs and kisses,
that's just more child abuse.

Don't preach about your morals,
Like your Mama did to you.
That's nothing more than mind control,
And it's illegal too!

Mom, I have these children's rights,
So you can't influence me,
Or I'll call Children's Services Division,
Better known as C.S.D.'

Mom's Reply and Thoughts

Of course my first instinct was
To toss her out the door.
But the chance to teach her a lesson
Made me think a little more.

I mulled it over carefully,
I couldn't let this go..
A smile crept upon my face,
She's messing with a pro.

Next day I took her shopping
At the local Goodwill Store.
I told her, 'Pick out all you want,
There's shirts & pants galore.

I've called and checked with C.S.D ....
Who said they didn't care
If I bought you K-Mart shoes
Instead of those Nike Airs.

I've canceled that appointment
To take your driver's test.
The C.S.D. Is unconcerned
So I'll decide what's best. '

I said 'No time to stop and eat,
Or pick up stuff to munch.
And tomorrow you can start to learn
To make your own sack lunch.

Just save the raging appetite,
And wait till dinner time.
We're having liver and onions,
A favorite dish of mine.'

She asked 'Can I please rent a movie,
To watch on my VCR?'
'Sorry, but I sold your TV,
For new tires on my car.

I also rented out your room,
You'll take the couch instead.
The C .S.D. Requires
Just a roof over your head.

Your clothing won't be trendy now,
I'll choose what we eat.
That allowance that you used to get,
Will buy me something neat.

I'm selling off your jet ski,
Dirt-bike & roller blades.
Check out the 'Parents Bill of Rights',
It's in effect today!

Hey hot shot, are you crying,
Why are you on your knees?
Are you asking God to help you out,
Instead of C.S.D...?'

Send to all people that have teenagers, have already raised teenagers, have children who will soon be teenagers or those who will be parents someday OR ANYONE WHO'D JUST GET A LAUGH!

The real implications of the Blagojevich indictment in Chicago

From Chicago Breaking News, February 4, 2010: "Blagojevich re-indicted, but accusations the same"
Those paying attention and reading this blog for the past two years recognize that the Blagojevich indictment is not just about selling Obama’s seat. It is about rampant Chicago corruption that includes manipulation of the IL Health Planning Facilities Board and Obama’s role in reducing the number of members from 15 to 9. Obama was chairman of the IL senate committee that made the change and gave Blagojevich and Rezko control with only 5 members. Some of the new members contributed to Obama and Blagojevich. If you are unaware of this story, search this blog. It has been extensively reported...

Guilty of preaching religious liberty in England, Roger Williams fled to Boston, FEBRUARY 5, 1631. He pastored briefly before being banished by Puritan John Cotton, who himself had been persecuted by Anglicans in England. Roger Williams befriended the Narragansett Indians, who gave him land for Providence Plantation, Rhode Island-the first place where church government was not controlled by the state government.

In 1639, Williams organized the first Baptist Church in America.

His "notorious disagreements" with John Cotton led to his publishing Mr. Cotton's Letter Lately Printed, Examined and Answered, 1644, in which Roger Williams wrote: "The church of the Jews under the Old Testament in the type, and the church of the Christians under the New Testament in the anti-type, were both separate from the world; and when they opened a gap in the hedge or wall of separation between the garden of the church and the wilderness of the world, God hath ever broken down the wall...therefore if He will ever please to restore His garden and paradise again, it must of necessity be walled in peculiarly unto Himself from the world." In 1802, Jefferson referred to Roger Williams' "wall of separation" in his letter to the Danbury Baptists.

Healthcare: They're Not Giving Up!

They're Not Giving Up - According to a Senate leadership aide, senators are aiming to make a decision about how to proceed on health care by the end of this week. The stark political reality is that "most Democrats have already voted for the bill, making them more invested in finishing the job." Unfortunately, for many Democratic legislators, bad policy passed may be better than bad policy abandoned - regardless of how that policy affects most Americans.

Neither Are We! - Thanks to your continued support, the NCPA is prepared to launch three successive waves of targeted communication to fence-sitting members of Congress. These waves include:
  • The Opening Salvo - Contact the Stupak Supporters: Sixty-four House Democrats supported the Stupak (abortion) amendment - legislation that doesn't exist in the Senate version and is unlikely to make it through on reconciliation. As such, these House members might vote against government-run health care if convinced.
  • The Second Blast: Write the Disloyal Opposition. Sixteen House Democrats opposed the overall bill but voted for it on partisan lines. They're ripe for well-placed letters, phone calls, emails and member visits.
  • The Knock-Out Blow: Collar the Blue Dogs. Eleven House Democrats are self-described moderates. While they supported the bill during Round 1, Round 15 is getting close-and they may be ready for "change we can believe in."
The First Wave Begins! This week many of you have received or will soon receive a personal request from me, asking you to write your representative in Congress. You're fortunate: as a constituent of an undecided House member, you are in a position to have a particularly significant impact on the future of our nation's health care! Please let your voice be heard:

How to protect your pets after you're gone

The Different Types of Pet Trusts

By R G Armstrong and Sanford M. Fisch

There are a number of different types of pet trusts: the traditional trust, the statutory trust, the living trust, and the testamentary trust. Regardless of which kind of trust you choose, it is strongly recommended that you enlist the help of a lawyer who is familiar with estate planning in your state.

The traditional pet trust is the most common choice among pet owners. In this type of trust, the owner can designate both a trustee and a caregiver, and then provide explicit instructions on how the money should be distributed and what kind of care the pet is expected to receive.

The statutory trust is less involved and requires the courts to participate in governing the trust. The owner only needs to make a simple provision in their will such as "I leave 'X amount' in trust for the care of my (dog/cat/etc.)".

One key difference between the two is that the traditional trust can be set up as a living trust or a testamentary trust... and here's the difference:

A living trust is created while the owner is still alive and becomes valid immediately. This enables the owner to make provisions for the temporary care of their pet in the event that the owner becomes disabled due to injury or illness.

Living trusts often have additional start-up costs and administrative fees because of this unique feature.

A testamentary trust simply means that the trust provision is included in the pet owner's will. The pet trust does not become valid until the owner dies and the will is probated. There are also no provisions for the pet if the owner becomes sick or otherwise disabled.

So, which is the best type of trust for you? That all depends upon your needs and circumstances. The best way to choose the right type of trust is to consult with an estate planning or elder law attorney who specializes in handling pet trusts.

This Day in History, February 4

On February 4th, 1789 George Washington is unanimously elected to be the first President of the United States by the U.S. Electoral College

Other Notable Events, Feb. 4

In 1789, George Washington of Virginia, the commander of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War, was elected the first president of the United States by all 69 presidential electors who cast their votes. John Adams of Massachusetts was elected vice president.

In 1861, at a convention in Montgomery, Ala., six states -- Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi and South Carolina -- elected Jefferson Davis president of the Confederacy.

Also in 1861, the 25-year period of conflict known as the Apache War began at Apache Pass, Ariz., with the arrest of Apache Chief Cochise for raiding a ranch. Cochise escaped his U.S. Army captors and declared war.

In 1938, Adolf Hitler seized control of the German army and put Nazi officers in key posts as part of a plan that led to World War II.

In 1974, urban guerrillas abducted Patricia Hearst, the 19-year-old daughter of publisher Randolph Hearst, from her apartment in Berkeley, Calif.

In 1976, an earthquake measuring 7.5 on the Richter scale killed nearly 23,000 people in Guatemala and Honduras.

In 1997, a jury in a civil trial in Santa Monica, Calif., found O.J. Simpson liable in the killings of his former wife and her friend, and was ordered to pay a total of $33.5 million to both families. Simpson had been acquitted in his murder trial.

In 2004, a Pakistani scientist considered the key figure in his country's nuclear weaponry development admitted he had leaked that technology to other countries.

Also in 2004, the Massachusetts Supreme Court refused to allow "civil union" as a substitute for same-sex marriage.

In 2006, widespread Muslim protests of published caricatures depicting Muhammad in a negative light turned violent. Angry demonstrators smashed windows, set fires and burned flags and Syrian mobs burned Danish and Norwegian embassies.

Also in 2006, nearly 100 people were reported killed and more than 250 injured in a stampede at a Philippine stadium where thousands were on hand for a popular game show.

In 2007, severe flooding in Jakarta killed at least 20 people and drove 340,000 Indonesians from their homes.

In 2008, U.S. President George Bush introduced a $3.1 trillion budget for fiscal 2009, including proposed increases in military spending but cutbacks in most domestic programs.

President tells Senate Democrats an astonishing bald-faced lie that they obviously had to know was a lie

Does the President know he is lying? Do the Democrats know he is lying? Do they even care if he is lying? Does anyone else care if the President is lying?

From Hugh Hewitt
Today President Obama told Senate Democrats that they had faced "enormous procedural obstacles that are unprecedented..."

"You had to cast more votes to break filibusters last year than in the entire 1950s and 1960s combined. That's 20 years of obstruction jammed into just one."

This is astonishing. A filibuster is the successful use of 41 or more votes to prevent the closing of debate. There wasn't a single filibuster in 2009. Not one.

The president will say anything to advance a narrative that makes him a victim of obstruction. It is clear that 2010 will be spent pivoting from his 2009 mantra of Bush's fault to his campaign year blasts at the "do nothing Republicans."

His advisors must foresee grim news on jobs to offer up such a transparent and unpersuasive, indeed almost purposefully alienating argument.

Stimulus Check 2010

Sometime this year, we taxpayers will again receive another 'Economic Stimulus' payment. This is indeed a very exciting program, and I'll explain it by using a Q & A format:

Q. What is an 'Economic Stimulus' payment?
A. It is money that the federal government will send to taxpayers.

Q. Where will the government get this money?
A. From taxpayers.

Q. So the government is giving me back my own money?
A. Only a smidgen of it.

Q. What is the purpose of this payment?
A. The plan is for you to use the money to purchase a High-definition TV set, thus stimulating the economy.

Q. But isn't that stimulating the economy of China?
A. Shut up.

Below is some helpful advice on how to best help the U.S. Economy by spending your stimulus check wisely:

* If you spend the stimulus money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China or Sri Lanka.

* If you spend it on gasoline, your money will go to the Arabs.

* If you purchase a computer, it will go to India, Taiwan or China.

* If you purchase fruit and vegetables, it will go to Mexico, Honduras and Guatemala.

* If you buy an efficient car, it will go to Japan or Korea (unless you BUY FORD!!!)

* If you purchase useless stuff, it will go to Taiwan.

* If you pay your credit cards off, or buy stock, it will go to management bonuses and they will hide it offshore.

Instead, keep the money in America by:

1) Spending it at yard sales, or...

2) Going to ball games, or...

3) Spending it on prostitutes, or...

4) Beer or...

5) Tattoos

(These are the only American businesses still operating in the U.S.)

Conclusion:

Go to a ball game with a tattooed prostitute that you met at a yard sale and drink beer all day!

No need to thank me, I'm just glad I could be of help.

How to Destroy American Jobs

Deep in the president's budget released Monday—in Table S-8 on page 161—appear a set of proposals headed "Reform U.S. International Tax System." If these proposals are enacted, U.S.-based multinational firms will face $122.2 billion in tax increases over the next decade. This is a natural follow-up to President Obama's sweeping plan announced last May entitled "Leveling the Playing Field: Curbing Tax Havens and Removing Tax Incentives for Shifting Jobs Overseas."

The fundamental assumption behind these proposals is that U.S. multinationals expand abroad only to "export" jobs out of the country. Thus, taxing their foreign operations more would boost tax revenues here and create desperately needed U.S. jobs.

This is simply wrong. These tax increases would not create American jobs, they would destroy them.
Obama's proposals for increasing the tax burden on U.S.-based multinationals would harm our most dynamic companies

FOUR CHAPLAINS DAY: On February 3, 1943 a Priest, a Rabbi and two Protestant Ministers gave up their own life jackets after their ship was torpedoed by Nazis

On the frigid night of FEBRUARY 3, 1943, the Allied ship Dorchester plowed through the waters near Greenland. At 1:00am, a Nazi submarine fired a torpedo into its flank, killing hundreds in the explosion and trapping others below deck. It the ensuing chaos, four chaplains: a Priest, a Rabbi and two Protestant Ministers; distributed life jackets. When there were none left, the four chaplains ripped off their own jackets and put them on four young men. Standing embraced on the slanting deck, the chaplains bowed their heads in prayer as they sank to their icy deaths. Congress honored them by declaring this "Four Chaplains Day."

On February 7, 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower remarked: "And we remember that, only a decade ago, aboard the transport Dorchester, four chaplains of four faiths together willingly sacrificed their lives so that four others might live. In the three centuries that separate the Pilgrims of the Mayflower from the chaplains of the Dorchester, America's freedom, her courage, her strength and her progress have had their foundation in faith." Eisenhower concluded: "Today as then, there is need for positive acts of renewed recognition that faith is our surest strength, our greatest resource."

Seven Huge Flaws in the Way Liberals Think

Townhall: by John Hawkins

Mr. Obama might want to stick to a moderate approach. FDR's war against business played to the crowd, but it hurt the economy. While monetary policies impeded recovery in the late 1930s, it was the administration's assault on companies and capital that ensured the Depression's duration.

FDR's war against business showed that a president must choose between retribution and recovery...

HOW TO START EACH DAY WITH A POSITIVE OUTLOOK

1. Open a new file in your computer.

2. Name it 'Barack Obama'.

3. Send it to the Recycle Bin.

4. Empty the Recycle Bin.

5. Your PC will ask you: 'Do you really want to get rid of 'Barack Obama?'

6. Firmly Click 'Yes.'

The story Backdoor taxes to hit middle class has been withdrawn. A replacement story will run later in the week.

I found it by Googling. Often Google has cached stories even after they are no longer available at the original source. Also, sometimes a subscriber publication will have a story on their site that is not available at the original source. So, this was found at Yahoo. Canadian version here.

The page is attached, and the Hyperlink is at the bottom; however, the article may be removed at Yahoo, also. The "Print" version is no longer available. Obama is now outdoing himself, telling the most outrageous lie so far, regarding middle class taxes.

Backdoor taxes to hit middle class

By Terri Cullen – Mon Feb 1, 4:09 pm ET

NEW YORK (Reuters.com) --The Obama administration's plan to cut more than $1 trillion from the deficit over the next decade relies heavily on so-called backdoor tax increases that will result in a bigger tax bill for middle-class families.

In the 2010 budget tabled by President Barack Obama on Monday, the White House wants to let billions of dollars in tax breaks expire by the end of the year -- effectively a tax hike by stealth.

While the administration is focusing its proposal on eliminating tax breaks for individuals who earn $250,000 a year or more, middle-class families will face a slew of these backdoor increases.

The targeted tax provisions were enacted under the Bush administration's Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001. Among other things, the law lowered individual tax rates, slashed taxes on capital gains and dividends, and steadily scaled back the estate tax to zero in 2010.

If the provisions are allowed to expire on December 31, the top-tier personal income tax rate will rise to 39.6 percent from 35 percent. But lower-income families will pay more as well: the 25 percent tax bracket will revert back to 28 percent; the 28 percent bracket will increase to 31 percent; and the 33 percent bracket will increase to 36 percent. The special 10 percent bracket is eliminated.

Investors will pay more on their earnings next year as well, with the tax on dividends jumping to 39.6 percent from 15 percent and the capital-gains tax increasing to 20 percent from 15 percent. The estate tax is eliminated this year, but it will return in 2011 -- though there has been talk about reinstating the death tax sooner.

Millions of middle-class households already may be facing higher taxes in 2010 because Congress has failed to extend tax breaks that expired on January 1, most notably a "patch" that limited the impact of the alternative minimum tax. The AMT, initially designed to prevent the very rich from avoiding income taxes, was never indexed for inflation. Now the tax is affecting millions of middle-income households, but lawmakers have been reluctant to repeal it because it has become a key source of revenue.

Without annual legislation to renew the patch this year, the AMT could affect an estimated 25 million taxpayers with incomes as low as $33,750 (or $45,000 for joint filers). Even if the patch is extended to last year's levels, the tax will hit American families that can hardly be considered wealthy -- the AMT exemption for 2009 was $46,700 for singles and $70,950 for married couples filing jointly.

Middle-class families also will find fewer tax breaks available to them in 2010 if other popular tax provisions are allowed to expire. Among them:

* Taxpayers who itemize will lose the option to deduct state sales-tax payments instead of state and local income taxes;

* The $250 teacher tax credit for classroom supplies;

* The tax deduction for up to $4,000 of college tuition and expenses;

* Individuals who don't itemize will no longer be able to increase their standard deduction by up to $1,000 for property taxes paid;

* The first $2,400 of unemployment benefits are taxable, in 2009 that amount was tax-free.

The Transformation of the American Dream into the American Nightmare

If you haven't seen the movie that is referenced in the opening of this article, you really should!
In the movie Moscow on the Hudson (1984) Vladimir Ivanoff, a frustrated jazz musician living in the overregulated and dysfunctional USSR escapes to New York City, only to be initially bewildered and then angered by the chaotic freedom he sees around him. Eventually Ivanoff comes to realize that America is not a utopia, but rather a society in which you are free to be responsible for your own happiness.

The contrast between the film's vision of a repressive and corrupt Moscow, where there are laws for everything, yet everyone lives outside the law because everything you want requires going outside the system, and its vision of New York City, where there seem to be virtually no laws for anything, but yet everything you could want is available if you can find a way to get it-- aptly marks the contrast between the planned and the unplanned society.

That contrast once lay at the heart of the American Dream, of a country where you have the freedom to achieve anything if you strive for it. But while the rhetoric of the American Dream is used just as often by politicians, it has come to mean something else nowadays, namely government subsidized goodies to help you "realize" the American Dream. This subtle distinction has transformed the American Dream from one of individualistic independence, to one of government dependency.
The Democrats promise that if we give them power, they will rule with a level of fairness that we ourselves are not capable of. And when they have looted all the treasury, and have their mobs to bay for anyone's blood who questions them, when there is a law and a rule for everything, but no one obeys them if they can get away with it, when there is a smiling tyrant on every wall offering us a tenth of our own income back in government coupons... then we will truly be a progressive society that any student of history would recognize.

The American Dream is not a mere dream of commerce, but a dream of freedom. Freedom in labor, freedom in industry, freedom in thought and speech, and freedom of association. That is the American Dream we are fighting for. That is the American Dream that the left is fighting against. We can best defeat the left by offering the American Dream as the antidote to the American Nightmare.

Evolution!

A group of 40-year-old buddies are trying to figure out where they should meet for dinner. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen restaurant because the waitresses there have low-cut blouses and nice breasts.

10 years later, at 50 years of age, the group once again tries to figure out where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the food there is very good and the wine selection is good also.

10 years later at 60 years of age, the group again tries to figure out where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because they can eat there in peace and quiet and the restaurant is smoke free.

10 years later, at 70 years of age, the group meets again and once again they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because the restaurant is wheel chair accessible and they even have an elevator.

10 years later, at 80 years of age, the group meets again and they discuss and discuss where they should meet. Finally it is agreed upon that they should meet at the Gausthof zum Lowen because that would be a great idea because they have never been there before.

16 Lies in 7 Minutes– Obama’s State of the Union Address

This was brilliant. Remember when you view this that this was only a seven minute clip of his 68 minute long speech.

Unlike this president, John Kennedy was an ironist who never fell for his own mystique...
