Dem leaders say: If you don't kill the damn kids it'll cost us too much money!
The arguments they have made to him in recent deliberations, he adds, “are a pretty sad commentary on the state of the Democratic party.” What are Democratic leaders saying? “If you pass the Stupak amendment, more children will be born, and therefore it will cost us millions more. That’s one of the arguments I’ve been hearing,” Stupak says. “Money is their hang-up. Is this how we now value life in America? If money is the issue — come on, we can find room in the budget. This is life we’re talking about..."This has really reached an unhealthy stage,” Stupak says. “People are threatening ethics complaints on me. On the left, they’re really stepping it up. Every day, from Rachel Maddow to the Daily Kos, it keeps coming.”Michigan, Rep. Bart Stupak, a pro-life Democrat

Healthcare: They're Not Giving Up!
They're Not Giving Up - According to a Senate leadership aide, senators are aiming to make a decision about how to proceed on health care by the end of this week. The stark political reality is that "most Democrats have already voted for the bill, making them more invested in finishing the job." Unfortunately, for many Democratic legislators, bad policy passed may be better than bad policy abandoned - regardless of how that policy affects most Americans.

Neither Are We! - Thanks to your continued support, the NCPA is prepared to launch three successive waves of targeted communication to fence-sitting members of Congress. These waves include:
- The Opening Salvo - Contact the Stupak Supporters: Sixty-four House Democrats supported the Stupak (abortion) amendment - legislation that doesn't exist in the Senate version and is unlikely to make it through on reconciliation. As such, these House members might vote against government-run health care if convinced.
- The Second Blast: Write the Disloyal Opposition. Sixteen House Democrats opposed the overall bill but voted for it on partisan lines. They're ripe for well-placed letters, phone calls, emails and member visits.
- The Knock-Out Blow: Collar the Blue Dogs. Eleven House Democrats are self-described moderates. While they supported the bill during Round 1, Round 15 is getting close-and they may be ready for "change we can believe in."

THE BEST CHRISTMAS PRESENT EVER
...because of the Senator DeMint’s objection, unless the House votes for the Senate bill unchanged — which is highly unlikely (see below) — then the Senate ObamaCare bill must be amended on the House floor to gain the votes they need to pass it on the House floor. And because of Senator DeMint’s objection to the appointment of the conferees, there will be no conference, or conference report.Read the whole thing!
If the House amends the Senate bill, they then have to send the amended bill back to the Senate — where all the 60 vote margin cloture votes still apply — cloture on the motion to proceed, and cloture to end the filibuster and cloture on any amendment.
Do I believe that this objection to the appointment of the conferees will kill ObamaCare? Yes, if the progressives or those 64 House Democrats who voted for the Stupak amendment do not roll over and play dead.
This monkey wrench may explain why the White House is putting out the word that it wants the health care bill to pass the House after the State of the Union, in February.

WHITEHOUSE ABORTION COVER-UP
(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said the White House and the Democratic leadership in the House of Representatives have been pressuring him not to speak out on the "compromise" abortion language in the Senate version of the health care bill.Read more
“They think I shouldn’t be expressing my views on this bill until they get a chance to try to sell me the language,” Stupak told CNSNews.com in an interview on Tuesday. “Well, I don’t need anyone to sell me the language. I can read it. I’ve seen it. I’ve worked with it. I know what it says. I don’t need to have a conference with the White House. I have the legislation in front of me here.”
