10 bad things that will become law if ObamaCare is not stopped now

From RiehlWorldView.com

If the Senate bill isn't stopped in the House over the next two weeks, there's every reason to believe these stipulations and more will become the law of the land:

1) Spends Way Too Much: $2.5 trillion over the first ten years that the plan is fully implemented

2) Raises Taxes During a Recession: Hikes taxes $493 billion with new levies on so-called “Cadillac” plans, a new Medicare payroll tax on higher-income earners, and taxes on health insurance and drug manufacturing companies, which are sure to be passed on consumers in the form of higher premiums

3) Individual Mandate: Requires individuals to carry health insurance or exacts a fine up to $750

4) Business Burdens: taxes employers with more than 50 full-time workers if they are not offered insurance. CBO estimates employers would opt to drop as many as 5 million workers from private insurance, and pay the fine instead of maintaining current coverage

5) Huge Medicaid Expansion: an estimated 40 percent expansion of the entitlement program would greatly increase costs for government and taxpayers. States would be forced to manage the increased load. However, the federal government would pick up a large share of the new cost

6) Insurance Companies can still Limit Benefits: Although one of the prime reasons for this entire effort was to force insurance companies to live up to their commitments, the Senate bill would only ban lifetime-benefit caps. Insurance companies can still invoke yearly limits that will have essentially the same effect

7) Bad for Seniors: Cuts $120 billion from Medicare Advantage, which CBO says will result in fewer seniors with access to vision, dental and flu shots. Ultimately, up to 2.6 million seniors could lose their Medicare Advantage coverage

8) More Bureaucracy: Creates comparative effectiveness panels, a Medicare Advisory Board and a Health Care Commissioner, all of whom would be responsible for oversight of the greatly-expanded government role in health care and invoking rationing in attempts to contain cost

9) Doesn’t Tackle Tort Reform: Despite the president’s commitment to lower medical liability costs, the bill only contains a “Sense of Senate” provision, with no real reforms that could save up to $54 billion over ten years

10) Auto-Enrollment: Businesses with more than 200 workers will be required to automatically enroll employees in health coverage

"...if Obama is so brilliant, why does he parrot the words and thoughts of a bunch of schmucks like Karl Marx, Saul Alinsky, Al Gore and Michael Moore?"

Why does he insist that the trouble with the Constitution and the civil-rights movement is that they didn't focus on the redistribution of wealth? Why would he hand over the federal budget to a couple of morons like Pelosi and Reid? And why on earth would he put Henry Waxman in charge of his energy program? A brilliant person wouldn't trust Waxman to bring baked beans to a picnic.

When someone decides to model a health-care plan after such dismal failures as England, Canada and Cuba, while exhuming the failed economic policies of FDR, why would anyone suggest he is anything but a left-wing ignoramus?

This is an American president, for heaven's sake, who has more in common with Noam Chomsky, Hugo Chavez and some Berkeley hippie than he has with Washington, Jefferson and Adams. Except that he is now 30 years older, Obama seems to think exactly the same way he was thinking back in college, when he was a pot-smoking idiot who sought out students who were self-professed revolutionaries and professors who were communists.

If we have come to a point where the ability to read scripted lines off a teleprompter is considered a sign of brilliance, no matter how fatuous the actual words may be, we are in even worse shape than I imagined.
Is Obama Really Brilliant?

Congressional proposals could penalize couples $10,000 for saying 'I do'

Bills pending in Congress that would nationalize health care by setting up mandatory insurance purchases and fines for not complying could penalize married couples $10,000 annually and are a direct attack on marriage, families and the church because of their discriminatory provisions, according to a congressional candidate.

"This is as awful, I will say evil ... this is as evil as it gets," Allen Quist, who is running to unseat Democrat Tim Walz in Minnesota's 1st congressional district, told WND.
It's ba-ack! Health-care plan redoubles 'marriage penalty'

DON'T FORGET YOUR DREAMS!

It is sad to witness the lack of direction and lack of purpose that some people have in their lives. I’m not talking about our youth. In fact, many of our youth seem to have plans and goals that are encouraging and inspiring. I’m concerned about mature, capable adults who used to have dreams and goals when they were young but have given up on those dreams and now seem resolved to be content with whatever life has dealt them.

I believe that one of the saddest scenarios I can imagine is when someone gives up on their dreams. In many respects giving up on our dreams is worse than the loss of a loved one. To give up on our goals may be, in essence, to not fulfill the purpose of our own creation. To allow life to happen to us as opposed to making life happen is one of life’s greatest potential tragedies.

I have learned that anything is possible to those who are persistent in the pursuit of their dreams. Sure, we meet roadblocks! Sure, there are hurdles. Sure, things don’t always turn out exactly how we planned. But what a tragedy when we interpret those setbacks as making our dreams impossible to reach—or worse yet, interpret our current failure as meaning we are failures and incapable of success.

If there were a gift that I could give this year, it would be to have everyone remember back to when they were young, when they had goals and dreams. I would have them remember those goals and dreams in detail, and wake them up with the realization that it is not too late. Our life can still be what we wanted it to be! We can accomplish and do everything we wanted to do. Oh sure, we are going to have to change some things. If we keep doing what we’ve been doing, we’ll keep getting what we’ve been getting. But we can change some things as long as we know where we are going and know that if we keep at it we will get there.

I would challenge everyone to remember our past hopes and dreams and write them down on paper as goals. Solidify them! Think about them! Decide what has to change in order to reach them. Commit to doing those things, and go for it. Be prepared for setbacks, but never give up until you reach your goal.

I would challenge those of you who are married to ask your spouse about the dreams and goals he or she had at a younger age. Find out which dreams have not come true. Together, see if you can’t wake up some of those dreams. And make a plan together to make these dreams come true. If you truly throw your heart into helping your spouse reach his or her goals, I can promise you both a very rewarding experience—not only in the end result, but in the journey as well.

Stimulus funds PORN!

Businessmen, the motor of the economy that funds this depravity and degenerate spending, have to pay for their lunch at the White House, but there is cash for bestiality. Is it any wonder that good Americans have been shouting out at the Democrats at town hall meetings?

Stimulus jam. We're toast.

JAM:
Democrats are all over the map on the stimulus and the possibility of a sequel, and it’s not hard to see why: When it comes to a second stimulus, they may be damned if they do and damned if they don’t.

“Right now, every headline across the board is the stimulus isn’t enough, states are in bankruptcy, states aren’t paying their bills,” says Wendy Schiller, a Brown University political scientist. “This is really deadly for the Democratic Party, because what it suggests is the Democratic Party cannot run the country.”
Democrats Stuck in Stimulus Jam

TOAST:
...there are only two possible conclusions: One, the stimulus has been the most inept public waste of money in history. Or two, it was a cynical attempt by the Democrats to vastly expand the scope of government during a time of crisis. Or maybe it's both.

Trouble (someone slipped something into the stimulus bill)!

Didn't you really know this was going to happen? When someone says "you've gotta do it RIGHT NOW!!!" you always knew it meant trouble and why should it be any different now?

A single word buried on Page 465 of the stimulus conference report has at least one Republican senator up in arms and some independent-government overseers scratching their heads.

America's on life support in the ER

This mockery of freedom that Obama and the Democrats have shoved down our throats has passed and will be signed into law on Monday by the president.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, the cost of servicing the bill's nearly trillion-dollar debt will shrink the economy within a decade.

Our only hope is to try and turn this sinking ship around in 2010. (Remember, only 3 Republicans voted for this albatross.) Please scroll down this blog a little ways and look at the section called "Join The Resistance!" (And, please do!)

Otherwise, kiss whatever is left of our country goodbye.

"I’m scared he doesn’t know what he’s doing.”

A surprising story from a pro-Obama Chicago bookstore
Two of the booksellers were talking as they set up for the book signing. Both were gay men of the Emo persuasion, the sort who pop over to Whole Foods for some kale and buffalo mozzerella for lunch, always remembering to bring their Earth-friendly, Gore-approved canvas sacks along with them. These are the exact same kinds of guys we see at Sidetrack, screaming and yelling and cursing the video screens whenever that bar shows anti-Palin video clips, and then in the next breathe, making a 180 from that hate, they lecture about America becoming a more humble and meeker “citizen of the world”. Needless to say, they wash all that kale and mozzerella down with big gulps of the purple Kool-Aid.

But, color us surprised, because these guys were ripping Obama’s Trillion Dollar Jockstrap of Stimulus to SHREDS.

They were more brutal than we are — and we’re some of the cattiest gays you’ll ever meet.

Obama's big, huge, monstrous tax cuts

Here's what you will get: You'll notice a whopping extra $13 a week around June which will fall to around $8 per week next January.

Here 'tis

Plus, the stimulus contains some interesting healthcare plans...like, if you're fat you'll be charged more and if you're old, well, you just may not get much.

So, this is what those bastards who voted for THE GREAT ONE get, isn't it?

How The World Almost Came To An End At 2PM On September 18

UPDATE: ATLAS SHRUGS HAS A REALLY LONG POST ABOUT THIS HERE

Sunday, February 8, 2009
Posted by Tyler Durden at 12:56 PM

LiveLeak has caught a scary moment of previously undisclosed insight by Paul Kanjorski where he reveals some facts that have not been captured by the media previously. At 2 minutes and 20 seconds in the video below, Democratic Representative Kanjorski explains how the Federal Reserve told Congress members about a "tremendous draw-down of money market accounts in the United States, to the tune of $550 billion dollars." According to Kanjorski, this electronic transfer occurred over the period of an hour or two. And it gets worse. Kanjorski paraphrases the following disclosure by Bernanke and Paulson:

On Thursday (Sept 18), at 11am the Federal Reserve noticed a tremendous draw-down of money market accounts in the U.S., to the tune of $550 billion was being drawn out in the matter of an hour or two. The Treasury opened up its window to help and pumped a $105 billion in the system and quickly realized that they could not stem the tide. We were having an electronic run on the banks. They decided to close the operation, close down the money accounts and announce a guarantee of $250,000 per account so there wouldn't be further panic out there.

If they had not done that, their estimation is that by 2pm that afternoon, $5.5 trillion would have been drawn out of the money market system of the U.S., would have collapsed the entire economy of the U.S., and within 24 hours the world economy would have collapsed. It would have been the end of our economic system and our political system as we know it.

We are no better off today than we were 3 months ago because we have a decrease in the equity positions of banks because other assets are going sour by the moment.

Interestingly, Kanjorski, and likely more and more Democrats, are starting to shift to the camp that more time is needed to make a correct decision this time (which may explain Geithner's decision to postpone the "bank-rescue" announcement by one day to Tuesday), instead of rushing into another half-baked plan. Very scary stuff.

Why Obama’s new Tarp will fail to rescue the banks

Has Barack Obama’s presidency already failed?

Martin Wolf of The Financial Times in London wants to know!
Why then is the administration making what appears to be a blunder? It may be that it is hoping for the best. But it also seems it has set itself the wrong question. It has not asked what needs to be done to be sure of a solution. It has asked itself, instead, what is the best it can do given three arbitrary, self-imposed constraints: no nationalisation; no losses for bondholders; and no more money from Congress. Yet why does a new administration, confronting a huge crisis, not try to change the terms of debate? This timidity is depressing. Trying to make up for this mistake by imposing pettifogging conditions on assisted institutions is more likely to compound the error than to reduce it.
Some interesting charts and graphs here!

Obama lied about the stimulus!

Tuesday, February 10, 2009
What Consensus for the “Stimulus?” [Brian Riedl]
The Obama administration has claimed that virtually all economists support their approach to "stimulus" spending. This is patently untrue. Nobel Laureates Ed Prescott, James Buchanan, and Vernon Smith recently joined 200 other economists signing a letter opposing the legislation. Other notable economists critical of the stimulus package include Nobel Laureate Gary Becker, as well as Robert Barro, Greg Mankiw, Arthur Laffer, and Larry Lindsey. Martin Feldstein, who had been the only notable conservative economist loudly supporting the stimulus, has since changed his mind.

More liberal economists such as Alice Rivlin and Alan Blinder have also strongly criticized certain aspects of the spending bill.

Even President Obama's own economic advisers—who are leading the fight for the "stimulus" bill—previously criticized the bill's economic underpinnings.
