Unfortunately, Congress does not operate this way. He states that they would be compelled to investigate, and the result would be the truth being exposed and them having no choice but to disqualify.
But you'll remember the impeachment of Bill Clinton. When he was impeached, the Senate was required to hold a trial, with evidence being presented and a judge presiding. We know that subsequently, Clinton was disbarred, due to the evidence against him. This meant nothing to the Senate, who blew through the procedure and did nothing.
The same thing would happen here.
