Why did Obama and his roommate visit Pakistan for about three weeks in 1981, at a time when travel to the country was banned and Americans were clearly unwelcome? Why and how did Obama and his roommate travel to a predominantly Muslim city in neighboring India--when travel between the two nations was extremely restricted?
Did Obama enter and leave Pakistan using his US passport or a foreign passport? He was apparently still entitled to a Kenyan passport; and he may have also been entitled to an Indonesian passport.
In that regard, isn't it time a reporter asked Obama if he is now or has ever been a citizen of Indonesia? His Indonesian stepfather, Lolo Soetoro, registered him for school there under the name Barry Soetoro, listing his religion as "Islam" and his citizenship as "Indonesian."
An inconvenient question as Obamamania spreads across the land: Is the US ready for a dual-citizen Commander-in-Chief? Dual citizenship wouldn't be appropriate for a dual US-UK citizen, much less a dual US-Indonesian citizen. The world's most populous Muslim nation, Indonesia is a hothouse of Muslim separatism and extremism and Islamist terrorism.

A few things:
1. In addition to being run by the military, Pakistan's nuclear program had made it a pariah in terms of military aid and other forms of cooperation. The US policy, i.e. the Symmington Amendment,was instituted in the mid to late 1970s.
2. The US overturned the Symmington Amendment and started pouring billions in aid into the region in 1981.
4. travel for US citizens was NEVER, ever banned by either country. The US State Department periodically warns US citizens against travel there, but never goes as far as they do with Cuba
Posters of the Obama/Pakistan story are just highlighting their ignorance.
But Obama was travelling not with a U.S. passport, but with an Indonesian passport. And General Zia had just taken over the country, enforced martial law, and instituted strict Islamic society. Doesn't exactly sound like a vacation spot for a 19 year old.
The truth is that American citizens traveled freely to Pakistan in 1981 with U.S. passports. Obama as a natural born citizen of the United States used his U.S.A passport. This is easy to prove.
The assertion that Pakistan “was on the State Department’s travel ban list for U.S. Citizens” is false.
There was no such ban. Americans traveled there without incident, as shown by a travel piece that appeared in the New York Times in 1981, dated June 14. If it's so easy to prove that Obama traveled to Pakistan in 1981 on a U.S. passport, prove it.
