"There is a constitutional crisis in progress...

Cornell law professor William Jacobson
Judge prevents Trump from reversing Obama DACA policy (Updated):
"I would expect this decision to result in another stay, if not from the 9th Circuit, then from the Supreme Court.

There is a constitutional crisis in progress, one in which the Judiciary wrestles policy decisions away from the Executive Branch. Elections matter on policy decisions, unless that election is won by Donald Trump.

Join AMERICAN ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE on March 2 for the AEI event “The path ahead for US Internet policy: A conversation with Representative Greg Walden.”

AMERICAN ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE:
What to expect next on net neutrality

EXCERPTS:

Daniel Lyons:
If the president and the FCC believe we must implement net neutrality as quickly as possible, they should work with Congress rather than undertaking the longer and riskier path of freelancing at the edge of the agency’s statutory authority.

Gus Hurwitz:
The Commission’s approach is a massive expansion of the Commission’s power into an area of vast economic and political significance. It is anything but mere “statutory interpretation” – and for this reason it is quite likely to face a rough road as it heads to court.

Richard Bennett:
[T]he US has arrived at a turning point in the development of the web. The present direction of Internet regulation threatens the ability of networks to advance. …. The Internet as we know it today is a distillation of ideas developed around the world by both public and private sector researchers supported by investments from both public and private sources. Most of the magic comes from the profit-driven private sector. As amazing as the Internet is today, it still falls short of its potential. It’s a certainty that the rules imposed on Wheeler will slow the Internet’s rate of progress and lock in current applications. Congress can take steps to undo the damage about to be inflicted — and it should.
If you’d like to learn more, join us on March 2 for the AEI event “The path ahead for US Internet policy: A conversation with Representative Greg Walden.”  Rep Walden, chairman of the House Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, will discuss the implications of the FCC’s net neutrality vote.

Everything is updated as of today

I started this blog about six years ago last February and have been collecting links under the following categories for years. As of today, they are all updated and working. There's a lot of great resources here, so please make use of them. (Note: "Join the Second American Revolution" was originally called "Join the Resistance" and I started collecting these activist links within a day or two after the 2008 presidential election).

All the links are under the following categories somewhere on the right panel and reaching all the way to the bottom:

  • MILITARY

  • TERRORISM & INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS

Energy wake-up call

Excerpts from OUR ENERGY FUTURE by Jeffrey Carter [via InstaPundit]
At the Chicago Booth Graduate School of Business Management Conference Friday, I listened to a panel discussion on energy. It was interesting, primarily because the two panelists didn’t mince words. They offered up some interesting stats. . .
  • Running an oil company isn’t cheap and has a lot of fixed costs.

  • Energy prices aren’t going lower in the long run and instead of battery powered cars and trucks we should figure out how to make uranium powered cars and trucks.

  • Research into green energy isn’t a total waste of money or time since fossil fuels will eventually be gone. However, government subsidies and government money pouring into research seems ill spent.

  • Natural gas is a good alternative, but we need to figure out how to develop an ecosystem so that it becomes easy for companies to switch. Natural gas has more energy density than diesel fuel.

  • We don’t need CAFE standards to stimulate car companies to create better cars. Economic incentives create them. There is no secret car that gets 90 MPG that car companies are withholding from the market. If they had it, you could buy it on a lot.

  • Give up on high speed rail. It’s not going to be possible under the current political environment, or economic environment.
  • The US will squander much of it’s storehouse of current energy due to bad policy.

  • Things like the Chevy Volt in the current technological environment are not efficient. They are science experiments.
As an angel investor, I don’t see me making investments in green energy that will take years to come to fruition. However, as an angel investor I can make investments into companies like Power2Switch that are in the energy sector, but not in the research and development of it.

10 Things That Would Be Happening Today If Obama's Policies Were Working

Barack Obama has "already held more re-election fundraising events than every elected president since Richard Nixon combined." Yet, despite the fact that he has been campaigning almost non-stop since the 2010 election, aside from trying to steal credit from the SEALs for killing Osama Bin Laden, you very seldom hear Obama talk about his record. This is especially noteworthy because like him or hate him, Obama has passed a lot of legislation. So, if Barack Obama has such an extensive record, why is it that Republicans are the ones that are always talking about it while Obama tries to steer the conversation to anything else? Simple: Obama is a failed President. His policies haven't worked. If Obama had actually produced results, the country would look very different today.

The Obamacare Disaster Heartland Institute Policy Study

Read Policy No. 128 The Obamacare Disaster - by Peter Ferrara
CONCLUSION:

This Heartland Policy Study has explained how Obamacare represents nothing less than a government takeover of health care in America. It will cause spending to skyrocket, care to be rationed, and taxes and government deficits to rise. It breaks all the promises candidate and then President Obama made about access to care, taxes, and the deficit. And it was all unnecessary: Much simpler reforms could have been adopted providing for a complete health care safety net, ensuring that everyone will have access to essential health care. Real health care reform would provide maximum power, control, and choice to patients and the doctors they have chosen for their health care. The key to making that work is not more government control and spending, but reforms that provide patients with market incentives to control the costs of their care, eliminating all forms of thirdparty health care rationing.

Obamacare is a disaster. Rather than liberate the American health care system from bureaucracy and waste, it blankets it with more of both, suffocating innovation and destroying freedom. The result is a system that is inconsistent with the freedom, prosperity, high living standards, and traditions of the American people.
