Get ready for a 29 percent increase in your electricity bills

If environmentalists get their way and force the United States to adopt European Union-style renewable energy policies, consumers will see their monthly electricity bills increase by 29 percent.

That finding comes from a new study by Robert Bryce, a senior fellow at the conservative Manhattan Institute, which found that countries that adopted stringent renewable-energy policies incurred “dramatically higher energy costs.”

Impermissible Ratemaking in Health-Insurance Reform: Why the Reid Bill is Unconstitutional

By Richard A. Epstein
...In effect, the onerous obligations under the Reid Bill would convert private health insurance companies into virtual public utilities. This action is not only a source of real anxiety but also a decision of constitutional proportions, for it systematically strips the regulated health-insurance issuers of their constitutional entitlement to earn a reasonable rate of return on the massive amounts of capital that they have already invested in building out their businesses.

Obama's Katrina

Glenn Beck did a segment that included this last night...it affects everyone because of what it's going to do to food prices. It's also one of the best examples of why you DON'T want government to be big, controlling, or instrusive...this will break your heart with it's hair-pulling stupidity...no, inhumanity!
The issue now turns to the Obama Administration and the courts, though the farmers have so far found scant hope for relief from the White House. In June, the Administration denied the governor's request to designate California a federal disaster area as a result of the drought conditions, which U.S. Drought Monitor currently lists as a "severe drought" in 43% of the state. Doing so would force the Administration to acknowledge awkward questions about the role its own environmental policies have played in scorching the Earth.
