Well, apparently not anymore!!

One man recently related:

"13th Avenue used to be fantastic. Carini's for pastries. Scotto's for "Brooklyn bread" and salviatas and other cookies. Long gone. [Yes, Scotto's is still there, but under "new" management.] And it's not just the paisans who are gone. Not that long ago, lady friend and I visited the old neighborhood, and she wanted a knish, like she used to buy for her mother on the avenue. We drove all the way from 38th Street to the New Utrecht Avenue el, not one Jewish deli with a lousy knish."

And a former New Yorker friend's recent experience:

"Speaking of knishes, we went to Yonah Schimmel’s, the most famous place in the world for knishes and they were awful.

Apparently, it’s now a mostly Internet mail order business so they are kept frozen and if you come in person (as we did) they microwave them. Ugh.

Yet another great New York institution down the drain."

My friend also mentioned that all her favorite restaurants were gone too!!

Just spotted in a pricey D.C. restaurant

As much as Debbie "Sequester" Wasserman Schultz agonizes about Congressional staffers' ability to afford the food in D.C. restaurants, we see it hasn't stopped her from dining at the almost-$40-per-serving-of-halibut (a la carte) Oceanaire Seafood Restaurant in Washington D.C. tonight (about 7:45 pm).

Nice to know that the Democrat elites are keeping their strength up to fight that "good fight" as the rest of their ever-hopeful constituents are clanging around on the long subway ride home from those D.C. "cubes."

Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day – as it is being called was the idea of former Arkansas governor and Fox News contributor Mike Huckabee. But as protests against Chick-fil-A swelled across the country, dozens of groups and prominent individuals joined in support of the company.

Mmmm...the Carbon Emission Diet!

GIVE up lamb roasts and save the planet. Government advisers are developing menus to combat climate change by cutting out “high carbon” food such as meat from sheep, whose burping poses a serious threat to the environment.

Out will go kebabs, greenhouse tomatoes and alcohol. Instead, diners will be encouraged to consume more potatoes and seasonal vegetables, as well as pork and chicken, which generate fewer carbon emissions.

“Changing our lifestyles, including our diets, is going to be one of the crucial elements in cutting carbon emissions,” said David Kennedy, chief executive of the Committee on Climate Change.

Kennedy has stopped eating his favourite doner kebabs because they contain lamb.
