In all of American history, this is the first time the national government will have the power to decide, in many cases, and a range of ages, how many of us will be permitted to go on living.

I expect that few of us, like many members of Congress, have actually read this law based on the Senate bill (2,409 pages) and the 153-page reconciliation package.

Moreover, I doubt that even many of Obama's citizen critics, including independent voters, know what was hidden beforehand in Obama's 2009 stimulus bill that includes the Federal Coordinating Council for Comparative Effectiveness Research (later superseded by the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute)...

OBAMACARE (passed March, 2010) was actually created in two parts: The first part was hidden 600 pages deep inside the stimulus bill and provides for a Federal Coordinating Council for COMPARATIVE EFFECTIVENESS RESEARCH (which determines the cost of treatments divided by the number of expected remaining life years) and was funded for 1.1 billion taxpayer dollars. It also provided for 15-members of a rationing board to be appointed by President Obama...which he did within three days of passing the stimulus bill.

To facilitate and cement the implementation of OBAMACARE, a multi-billion dollar center was created to implement decisions out of a coordinating council supervised by the National Coordinator for Health which will determine your treatment at the time and place of care (think: operating room for example).

Starting January 1, 2013, your doctor's nurse/assistant will send diagnoses via a handheld device in the operating room and any doctor not determined to be a "meaningful user of system over time" will face the following penalties.

1st offense (implementing a treatment not approved by the government): $100,000.00 fine.

2nd offense: jail.

Given that there will now be 32 million more patients flooding into the health care system, and given the above new rules whereby the government and not your doctor will determine (based in part on how long you have left to live) your treatment, surveys by the Journal of the American Medical Association and the New England Medical Journal report that approximately 46% physicians are going quit to quit the practise of medicine in the United States.

Seniors – Beware the AARP’s Support of ObamaCare

Obama maintains that overall the changes in health-care are helpful to seniors and will save them thousands of dollars. Not so. Seniors are the big losers under ObamaCare according to Betsy McCaughey, the expert who has studied all the congressional bills...How can an organization representing seniors possibly endorse legislation whose chief victims will be seniors? In backing ObamaCare, the AARP is derelict and deceptive to boot.

As for that Council on Comparative Effectiveness Research, as an Investor’s Business Daily editorial notes, it’s modeled on a similar board in England that approves or rejects treatments by dividing the cost of treatment by the number of additional years the patient is expected to live. Sample decision: the English board requires that elderly patients with macular degeneration wait until they are blind in one eye before they can get the costly new drug that can save the other eye. Presumably the Council will decide if it is an “efficient’ investment to permit expensive surgery for elderly patients. A hip replacement if you’re 80? How about Tylenol?
