Seniors get screwed!

The Washington Post reports:

Elderly Hardest Hit

[Tom] Daschle (D) says health-care reform “will not be pain free.” Seniors should be more accepting of the conditions that come with age instead of treating them. That means the elderly will bear the brunt.

Medicare now pays for treatments deemed safe and effective. The stimulus bill would change that and apply a cost- effectiveness standard set by the Federal Council (464).

The Federal Council is modeled after a U.K. board discussed in Daschle’s book. This board approves or rejects treatments using a formula that divides the cost of the treatment by the number of years the patient is likely to benefit. Treatments for younger patients are more often approved than treatments for diseases that affect the elderly, such as osteoporosis.

In 2006, a U.K. health board decreed that elderly patients with macular degeneration had to wait until they went blind in one eye before they could get a costly new drug to save the other eye. It took almost three years of public protests before the board reversed its decision.

Obama's health plan: Seniors get screwed

Remember those old science fiction movies where they packed off all the old people and got rid of 'em? Well, didn't you secretly know that the young, lithe, Obama (the one that reporters and others now dream of taking showers with and what not) would organize a, well, "rational" approach to health care?

Hey, it's the right (no, LEFT) thing to do!

Krauthammer outs Obama's fairy tale

By Charles Krauthammer
Friday, February 6, 2009; A17
"A failure to act, and act now, will turn crisis into a catastrophe."

-- President Obama, Feb. 4.

Catastrophe, mind you. So much for the president who in his inaugural address two weeks earlier declared "we have chosen hope over fear." Until, that is, you need fear to pass a bill.

And so much for the promise to banish the money changers and influence peddlers from the temple. An ostentatious executive order banning lobbyists was immediately followed by the nomination of at least a dozen current or former lobbyists to high position. Followed by a Treasury secretary who allegedly couldn't understand the payroll tax provisions in his 1040. Followed by Tom Daschle, who had to fall on his sword according to the new Washington rule that no Cabinet can have more than one tax delinquent.

ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST!!!

You know, I must say that Obama's presidency has been good for one thing and that is this: to remind people that DEMOCRATS ALWAYS WANT Y-O-U TO PAY TAXES...so they don't have to (but they take all the credit for the goodies they give away to bribe people to vote for them.)

Personal tax problems have tripped up three of President Obama's nominees for top administration jobs. Two nominees withdrew on Tuesday over tax issues, including Tom Daschle, Obama's choice head the Health and Human Services Department. The other withdrawal was chief performance officer nominee Nancy Killefer, who had a $947 tax lien filed against her in Washington four years ago for not paying unemployment compensation taxes for a household employee. She paid the debt less than six months later, District of Columbia records show.

(THEY CONVENIENTLY FORGET TO MENTION THAT TIMOTHY GEITHNER WAS JUST APPOINTED AS OBAMA'S TREASURY SECRETARY IN SPITE OF NOT PAYING HIS TAXES!!!)
