LET THERE BE LIGHT...Oh, my God: PLEASE!!!

William Shatner, Captain Kirk of Star Trek fame, returned to earth after a short stint in space and cried as he shared his experience with Jeff Bezos, the billionaire from Amazon who sent him there and back.

Upon landing after a successful flight to space, William Shatner, cried as he tried to express what he just saw.  The 90-year-old Shatner was visibly moved from his experience:

HOW ORSON BEAN FOUND GOD

How Orson Bean found God

Today comes the sad news that Orson Bean has died as the result of being hit by a car in Venice, California. The AP has posted an adequate obituary mostly written by the late Bob Thomas here. With a little help from Orson himself, I would like to add to Thomas’s obituary from a perspective you are unlikely to find in the mainstream media.
Orson Bean’s career spanned five decades. He was an incredibly bright and interesting man. In addition to being a successful actor and award-winning director, he was an acclaimed storyteller. He starred on Broadway for twenty years and appeared regularly as a panelist on To Tell the Truth and other game shows as well as a guest and guest host on the Tonight Show.
In a long and varied show business career, Bean always remained his own man. Blacklisted in Hollywood as a Communist in the 1950’s, he survived and came around sufficiently to face the new blacklist to which Hollywood conservatives are subject. I believe he said the new blacklist is tougher than the old. Donald Lambro explored part of Bean’s experience with the blacklist in his 2008 Washington Times column “Blacklist then and now.” Orson recalled: “Aside from the inconvenience of having a career ruined, being blacklisted in the ’50s was kind of cool.”
Orson was on a long quest for personal fulfillment. In his 1972 memoir Me and the Orgone, he recounted an early version of his quest. He also drank and snorted drugs “and DID inhale.” But, he says, he was never quite happy — until he sniffed around, became a recovering alcoholic, and discovered faith. This is the story he told in his book — M@il for Mikey — aimed at those seeking faith or recovery, but suspicious.
Andrew Breitbart was Orson’s son-in-law. When I toured Israel with Andrew in the summer of 2007, I asked him to convey our invitation to Orson to write something for Power Line. In response to our standing invitation, Orson provided the following account of “why I wrote this book” for Power Line readers. Orson wrote:

Brilliant Cambridge mathematician debates leading atheists around the world

From a friend:
I think I have may have mentioned John Lennox to you once before.

He is a brilliant mathematician who studied in Cambridge and is still on staff there.

His main focus these days is as a Christian apologist and debates many of the leading atheists all over the country, in fact around the world.

Many of the debates are surprisingly at leading eastern universities Harvard,Yale etc.

This particular address [video below] is at the University of North Carolina and it is not a debate, which I found actually better because he gets to present a full uninterrupted explanation about the factual basis for his faith.

It’s rather lengthy but once I began watching I was caught up in his clear deep thinking and reasoning.

When I first became a Christian it was based pretty much on simple faith and while there was a deep seated unquestioning conviction of my conversion, I still felt like I wanted more evidence to back things up.

I think of the scripture where it says be ready to produce a defense of what you believe.

Sometimes I feel too simple an explanation, at least for some people, means everything is a blind leap of faith and there’s not much basis behind it.

I know it’s not my role to convince or argue someone into believing but I do think the more you know, it does strengthen or in some ways flesh out your belief.

I like knowing more, rather than ducking or trying to ignore the hard questions for which I don’t have credible answers.

This is a fairly intellectual presentation but I’m sending it to you anyway..........kidding of course!

NEW SCHOOL PRAYER

BY A 15-year-old SCHOOL KID who got an A+ for this entry:
The Lord's Prayer Is not allowed in most US Public schools any more.
A kid in Minnesota, wrote the following.
NEW School Prayer:

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the State..
We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks...
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong..
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles...
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen

Eve (of "Adam and Eve"): "MeToo"

Ben Shapiro:
On Thursday evening, The Forward unleashed the single most illiterate piece ever written on the Biblical story of Adam and Eve. The piece defies description; it has to be read to be believed. Its central thesis, however, is that God somehow sexually harassed Eve, and that Eve is “the first case of #MeToo.”

This is not a total surprise coming from the same publication that ran a piece this week suggesting that Orthodox Jews are the new white supremacists.

10 biblical truths about animals

Please read all ten...but this one (#9) was particularly (and deeply) moving for me:
9. Animals teach us about the nature of justice

In Robert Bolt’s play, A Man for All Seasons, Sir Thomas More delivers a brilliant summation of God’s purpose for creating the angels, animals, plants, and humanity. Regarding animals, he observes God created them “for their innocence.” It is difficult to find a better description of animals than this. Animals appear to lack the capacity for moral reflection. They simply do what they do. Scripture supports this understanding. It was humans who ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, not animals (Gen. 3:1-7).

This observation of animal innocence is not only important for our understanding of animals. It also helps us understand our sense of justice. When we ask why we are offended by cruelty to animals, we recognize we are reacting to an innate sense within us that is repulsed by wanton violations of their innocence and vulnerability. This recognition helps us understand some of our motivations for our criminal justice system. When we punish acts of aggression against our fellow humans, we are responding to violations of their innocence and vulnerability. Such violations should be punished. Our sense of justice demands it.

Furthermore, we learn about divine justice from animals. Israel’s biblically mandated practice of substitutionary atonement provides this lesson. Scripture teaches that rebellion against God is sin. God’s holiness demands a penalty in response to this rebellion. In other words, God requires justice. Either the guilty person or an acceptable substitute must answer for human sin. God created the sacrificial system in Israel to help his people understand this reality. He commanded that this system regularly kill innocent animals in order to satisfy the demands of his divine justice (Lev. 16:1-34). The innocent animals would bear the sin of the people. This bloody display served as a symbol for what was yet to come—when the innocent Son of God would offer himself as the true, eternal, substitutionary sacrifice for the sin of all humanity (Rom. 3:21-26; 2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 10:1-18).

LAMININ...the indelible imprint from above

A friend posted this on Facebook...via "Life 88.5"
This is Laminin. The molecule, Laminin is the protein that holds human beings together. Do you notice its shape? Isn't it amazing that God would think so far in the future, and make the very thing that makes us think of Jesus, make up and play a crucial role in how we are formed? God formed you to not only live as an image of Christ, but to never escape the fact that you are HIS! We are branded by the Cross! "He is before all things, and in him all things hold together" Colossians 1:17

WORLD'S MOST FAMOUS ATHEIST WIMPS OUT

HAT TIP: Instapundit

Yes, I know this article says "world's most fearless atheist" but he is also the world's most famous--most vocal?--atheist as well...]

In a recent Al-Jazeerah interview, Richard Dawkins was asked his views on God. He argued that the god of "the Old Testament" is "hideous" and "a monster", and reiterated his claim from The God Delusion that the God of the Torah is the most unpleasant character "in fiction".

As you can see, Dawkins has no trouble attacking the Hebrew God in a most direct and uncompromising manner. No atheist wallflower he.

Asked if he thought the same of the God of the Koran, Dawkins ducked the question, saying: "Well, um, the God of the Koran I don't know so much about."

How can it be that the world's most fearless atheist, celebrated for his strident opinions on the Christian and Jewish Gods, could profess to know so little about the God of the Koran? Has he not had the time? Or is Professor Dawkins simply demonstrating that most crucial trait of his species: survival instinct.

Whoops. It’s funny how these confident, cocksure prophets of atheism-who barely have time to take a breath between slamming the tenets of Christianity and Judaism-often get curiously tongue-tied and shy when the subject of Islam comes up. The idea that Dawkins doesn’t “know so much about” the God of the Koran is absurd. Of course he knows about Islam. And the same disdain and disregard that he has for Judaism and Christianity should surely apply to Islam as well.

The truth is that bashing and mocking Judaism and Christianity is easy and painless. You’ll get praise and admiration from those within the “right” circles of academia, media, and entertainment. Your opponents will argue with and debate your views and they may even offer (gasp) to pray for you. There’s no real price to pay at all.

However, should you direct the same scathing criticisms towards Islam you’ll find those “right” circles suddenly closed off to you. And your opponents’ rebuttals may not be offered in articles and debate halls, but rather with bullets, bombs, and knives. Standing up to that takes real courage not the false bravado we see on displays as atheists attack Judaism and Christianity.

RELATIONSHIPS

Do not blow this off.

We're talking about relationships of all kinds: with God... with people...with your animals...with nature...even with government (which is, after all, only a collection of human beings--as much as some people wish to deify this entity).

Every living creature is entwined in a myriad of them, both known and unknown. Picture yourself in the midst of a multi- dimensional grid of light and energy.

Our relationships are profound, enriching, invaluable, dynamic, evolving and mysterious...and they may not all be in good shape.

Pay more attention to all of them!

Can you think of ANYTHING else that is the secret of life???

I have come to believe that "relationships" are not just an important PART of life, but that they ARE life.

"For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." [Matthew 18:20]

All who hate me love death

So now, O children, listen to me;
instruction and wisdom do not reject!
Happy the man who obeys me,
and happy those who keep my ways,
Happy the man watching daily at my gates,
waiting at my doorposts;
For he who finds me finds life,
and wins favor from the Lord;
But he who misses me harms himself;
all who hate me love death.”

It was for you...

for You

why wouldn’t I write poetry about You?
Why did I go this long without uttering words of praise
And awe and gratitude towards You?

All this time, I have written about anger and fear
About men About love
About loves labors lost
Trying to imitate Shakespeare
And others
Trying to imitate myself.

When the authentic thing finally pushed through

It was for You, God. Always for You.

"The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."

The Greatest Trick the Devil Ever Pulled . . . 1
Posted by Ann Barnhardt - February 23, AD 2012 10:47 PM MST

Lent began yesterday [2/22/12] and it is now that we recall Christ’s 40 day fast in the desert wherein He was tempted by satan.

I have zero engagement with the presidential election cycle and see nothing of it except the headlines. If you haven’t figured it out yet, the Republican primaries are pure theater designed to serve as a distraction for the intellectual caste one step above the American Idol and Ballroom Dancing crowd. It is all bread and circuses, just with 15-20 more I.Q. points. If you are falling for any of it, and are on “So-and-so’s team” as opposed to “Whosis’ team”, you should be embarrassed. Especially you Ron Paul people. Your faux-savior and Mitt Romney fall asleep in each other’s proverbial embrace with Paul looking up at Romney and whispering, “Make Rand VP and I’ll do . . . anything.” And then Mitt kisses him on the temple and they giggle and have a ticklefight. Yeah, that’s your savior of the Republic. Embarrassed much?

Anyway, I saw the headlines about people jumping all over Santorum for saying that satan was attacking the United States, with the implication being that no serious person actually believes in satan, and that’s all for the slackjawed idiots and dimwitted children or something. And yet, most of these people, if asked, would claim to be Christians. Apparently just not the “stupid kind” of Christian who “actually believes any of that shit in the Bible.” There I go using the language again, but that’s the only way I can get most of you people to comprehend anything. What I just said is EXACTLY what Christianity is today, and is exactly what the tyrant Obama is now explicitly enforcing – or attempting to enforce. You can claim to be a Christian just as long as you “don’t actually believe any of that shit.” If you actually believe any of it, you’re “insane”or “stupid” and will be ridiculed mercilessly until you are driven completely out of the public sphere; and now with ObamaCare, if you actually believe in Christianity and live that belief, then you will be breaking the law.

Is satan real? Of course. I did a quick keyword search and the word “satan” appears in the Bible 46 times, with all but 13 of those instances being in the New Testament, with 12 of those being quotes of Jesus Himself speaking. The word “devil” or “devils” appears 106 times, with all but four of those being in the New Testament. The word “serpent” references satan five times in the book of Genesis. Now I fully realize that this evidence means nothing to atheists. Fine, fine. That’s not who I’m talking about. I’m talking about MOST CHRISTIANS, or should I say, people who IDENTIFY as Christians, who scoff at the notions of satan, hell, sin, or even the concept of evil. These people have been taught by the Marxist infiltrators that there is no truth, only differing perspectives. There is no “sin”, only “deeply personal decisions of equal merit.” They have been taught that there is no such thing as evil, only “diversity” which is to be “tolerated” and now elevated and celebrated at all costs. Therefore, the notion of a being who is pure evil, hates humanity, and is active and afoot in the world, influencing people and events, is completely untenable for these people. Nevermind the 157 specific mentions of said entity and his army in the Bible, with almost 90% of those mentions being in the New Testament. Yeah, I guess Jesus must be a stupid idiot, too. Thank goodness we have the Jesuits and super-fun rockband church to save us from our superstitious redneck idiot of a Savior and His stupid “satan” talk.

Which brings us to Lent. Jesus went into the desert and fasted for 40 days, and was thrice tempted by satan. Interestingly, the three temptations match up exactly with Marxism, and really all totalitarian political systems. I’m lifting heavily from Fulton Sheen’s “Life of Christ” here, and recommend buying this book for your home library. Read Matthew chapter 4 to review the Temptation narrative.

Temptation number one from satan was telling Jesus to turn stones into bread. This is the Marxist ploy of winning the mob by giving them free stuff, and equating material abundance with salvation. Given what has happened economically over the last 50 years, and in particular the political mindset today of the government magically providing abundance for the people by blowing an enormous, unsustainable debt bubble that is going to destroy everything, can we not see the parallel?
The evil spirit was saying, “Start with the primacy of the economic! Forget about sin!” He still says this today in different words, “My Commissar goes into classrooms and asks children to pray to God for bread. And when their prayers are not answered, my Commissar feeds them. The Dictator gives bread; God does not, because there is no God, there is no soul; there is only the body, pleasure, sex, the animal, and when we die, that is the end.” --Life of Christ, page 69
This is exactly what Obama is setting up vis a vis the Church. He is counting on the cowardly, faithless bishops to not engage is civil disobedience (go to the Cross), but rather close and/or sell Catholic hospitals. Obama will then point to the Church and say, “See? God will not provide you with healthcare. But I will.” The Obama regime truly is a collective antichrist.

The Greatest Trick the Devil Ever Pulled . . . 2
Posted by Ann Barnhardt - February 23, AD 2012 10:47 PM MST

The second temptation of Christ by satan was to win the mob via pride, vanity and egomania. In the case of Christ, the temptation was to perform an actual public demonstration of His divinity so that no one would have any choice but know that He was God. In the case of Marxists, it is to con people into believing that they will work miracles, and that they are “god”. Uh, do I even have to write the rest of this section? Seriously. Greek columns. Receding oceans. Quoting now one Peggy Joseph:
”I'd never thought this day would ever happen. I won't have to worry 'bout putting gas in my car, I won't have to worry 'bout payin' my mortgage. You know, If I help him, he's gonna help me." --Peggy Joseph, October 29, 2008
The truth that would answer this temptation was that faith in God must never contradict reason. --Life of Christ, page 73
Everything that the Obama regime says and does in the economic sphere is totally and completely contrary to reason, most particularly elementary mathematical reason. The government cannot spend more than it takes in and ever, ever reduce, much less eliminate debt. The Obama regime is a collective antichrist.

The third temptation of Christ by satan was the temptation to compromise and parley with evil. Satan told Jesus that he would give him the world, if Jesus would only bow down and serve him. Obama has offered to lift 100% of the financial burden of caring for the indigent sick off of the Church, if the Church will only bow down and declare the Marxist doctrine that all sex is purely animal by accepting and paying for contraception and sterilization, and all human life is animal by accepting and paying for abortion. The bishops today would do well to heed Fulton Sheen’s interpretation of Christ’s response to satan:
”I shall tell them that it profits them nothing to win the whole world if they lose their immortal souls. You may keep your kingdoms for the moment. Better the loss of all your kingdoms, of the whole world even, than the loss of a single soul! The kingdoms of the world must be elevated to the Kingdom of God; the Kingdom of God will not be dragged down to the kingdoms of the world. All I now want of this earth is a place large enough to erect a Cross; there I shall let you unfurl Me before the crossroads of your world!” --Life of Christ, pages 77-78.
The Obama regime is truly, truly a collective antichrist, and must be fought, denied and utterly rejected as such. Of this, have no doubt whatsoever: satan is real, and he is spending a hell of a lot of time in Washington D.C. these days.

The real 'star search'

We have all seen reality programs where hopeful contestants announce that they are “the next big recording star” and then proceed to torture our ears and frighten our pets with dreadful caterwauling. When rejected they often seem dazed, arguing that they must be great singers, because “everyone” tells them they are.
Fulfilling God’s Longings for Us
