On Wednesday’s “Sean Hannity Show,” FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai (R) stated that the plan to “essentially give up the US oversight role…of the Internet” to ICANN is something that should worry anyone who cherishes “free expression, and free speech rights generally,” and could potentially cede oversight of the Internet to “foreign governments who might not share our values.” He further stated that such a move is “irreversible.”READ MORE
Pai said, “This proposal is to essentially give up the US oversight role that it’s had for the last 20 years, basically for the entire commercial lifespan of the Internet to a company called ICANN, which is an international organization, which includes a number of foreign countries. And, it’s an unprecedented move, and one that, as Mr. DeMint pointed out, is irreversible. Once we give up this oversight role, we can’t get it back.”

SMART METERS: BIG BROTHER HAS ARRIVED
Yesterday I posted this opening paragraph on my site:
"A growing number of citizens are taking action against the encroachment of totalitarianism here in America. GE is playing a major role in monitoring your every move while you’re INSIDE your home. How are they doing it? Ask the folks in California."Our show producer Dave lives in Northern California and guess what he discovered attached to his home? The GE Smart Meter...

11/30/10: the day the government takes over the Internet?
This is one of the most important battles ever waged in Washington – and precious little is known about it outside the Beltway.November 30th, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) could potentially engage in one of the largest federal power grabs we have ever seen.
What we are talking about is Internet reclassification. What that means is the FCC – which by its own admission doesn’t have authority over the Web – would just vote itself said authority. By reclassifying the Internet – so that it would be subject to the same rules as landline telephones.
The FCC has long had tremendous power over landline telephones, which is why there has been so much incredible innovation with them these last 70+ years. (Note: tremendous sarcasm here.)
The FCC has no power over the Internet because the FCC doesn’t have power over anything until Congress writes a law saying they do. And Congress has never done this for the FCC with the Internet...

Billy Sunday: 2/17/1889
A baseball star, Billy Sunday played for the Chicago White Stockings from 1883 to 1891.
Born during the Civil War in a log cabin in Iowa, his father, a Union Army soldier, died of pneumonia when Billy was only a month old. At age 15, he struck out on his own, working several jobs before being recruited to play pro baseball by pitcher and club owner, Albert Spalding, founder of Spalding Sporting Goods. Billy Sunday's career took off and he was one of the most popular athletes in the nation.
In 1887, he and his teammates were walking the streets of Chicago after drinking a few beers, when Billy Sunday heard an old gospel hymn sung at a street corner meeting of the Pacific Garden Mission. He began attending and there experienced conversion. He then went to YMCA meetings, quit drinking and got married.
A sensation occurred FEBRUARY 17, 1889, when Billy Sunday preached his first sermon as an evangelist. He went on to pioneer radio broadcasting so enthusiastically that the FCC was formed in response.
In the next 46 years, till his death November 6, 1935, over 100 million people would hear him. Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson met with him. In his animated style, Billy Sunday said: "Going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than going to a garage makes you an automobile."

Stop a Washington takeover of the Internet
The Federal Communications Commission is moving ahead with proposed "Open Internet" rules, which would give federal regulators vast new powers, and ultimately lead to government control of the Internet. ...Send comments to the FCC!
Although Susan Crawford is gone, the White House Internet power grab goes much higher, to President Obama himself. He said on the campaign trail: "I will take a backseat to no one in my commitment to Net Neutrality."

Chavez shutting down 34 privately-owned Venezuelan radio stations in the name of "free speech" and "democracy"
“Political language,” Orwell argued, was “designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.” Source
George Orwell claimed that there was something more calculated at work when politicians begin to claim for example that “Slavery is Freedom” or that “Hate is Love,” or in Mao Tse Tung’s words, that “Compulsion is Voluntary.” SourceIn August 1st article from Reuters we hear that
He says, furthermore, that this is his way of preserving democracy and free speech. Think about this next time the Democrats start talking about the "fairness doctrine" or, what they've cleverly started talking about instead, "localism" and new FCC regulations...
- Chavez says stations no longer belong to 'bourgeoisie'
- Calls closures part of effort to democratize airwaves
Here's more of what Chavez is doing according to Reuters:
- Another 120 radio stations were being investigated for administrative irregularities
- Venezuela's attorney general presented this week draft legislation that would establish prison sentences for anyone who provides false information that harms the interests of the state

Huge media scandal that should scare the pants off every American
It's a very dangerous situation when any huge multinational corporation wages war against media companies. Especially when that huge multinational corporation is General Electric, which itself owns a media company, NBC Universal, and it's using all its power and influence and money to try to harm another media company, Nielsen, and Nielsen Business Media, and its trade publication The Hollywood Reporter. This certainly sounds like a situation which the FCC, and the FTC, and the U.S. Justice Department should be investigating. Just one problem: the controversy stems from GE/NBCU's coverage of President Obama. Here's what happened:Read about it!
