Ho Ho Ho: White House predicting a decade of budget shortfalls

Are you using a teaspoon or a shovel?
What's Your Measure?
In Luke 6:38, Jesus said these words,
"Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you."
That is a promise of Jesus that you can stake your life on. Give, and what happens? It will be given to you good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over. Sounds like fun, doesn't it?!
But notice that He also added this, "The same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you." If you take a serving spoon, and that is what you measure out your giving with, you will get an overflowing serving spoon. It comes back to you good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and overflowing from a serving spoon.
The measure you use is what is measured back to you. If you use a shovel, and that is what you measure it out with, that is how it comes back to you.
Wouldn't you rather have a good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over shovel as opposed to a serving spoon? The measure you use, Jesus said, that is what is used to measure back to you.
I believe many people are using a teaspoon and yet they are praying, "God bless me. I have big needs." I am sure God is saying, "I'm doing all I can. You know, I'm pressing it down as much as I can press it down. It is running over. But a running over teaspoon is just not that much."

"The challenge has been formidable. Faced with a near-frozen market for initial public offerings and few mergers or acquisitions, many venture-capital firms have thrown more of their resources behind only their portfolios of existing businesses. Some have ceased investing altogether. But that single receipt makes up just part of the more than $101,000 taxpayers paid for "in-flight services" – including food and liquor, for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trips on Air Force jets over the last two years. That's almost $1,000 per week.

Controversy over Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism"

Over at the History News Network, a few serious historians and a few pretend ones launched a bizarre and at times delusionally paranoid attack on my book — two years after it came out...
Here is an except from Jonah Goldberg's rebuttal:
Those who put a high value on words may recoil at the title of Jonah Goldberg's new book, "Liberal Fascism." As a result, they may refuse to read it, which will be their loss -- and a major loss.
Those who value substance over words, however, will find in this book a wealth of challenging insights, backed up by thorough research and brilliant analysis.
This is the sort of book that challenges the fundamental assumptions of its time -- and which, for that reason, is likely to be shunned rather than criticized.
Because the word "fascist" is often thrown around loosely these days, as a general term of abuse, it is good that "Liberal Fascism" begins by discussing the real Fascism, introduced into Italy after the First World War by Benito Mussolini...
Jonah Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism" is too rich a book to be summarized in a newspaper column. Get a copy and start re-thinking the received notions about who is on "the left" and who is on "the right." It is a book for people who want to think, rather than repeat rhetoric.

For those who don’t know: I contend that in America (unlike Europe in important respects) “the right” is defined by two pillars: religious and cultural traditionalism on the one side and classical liberalism or economic libertarianism on the other. We can get hung up on the labels, but it is fair to say that people who are very culturally conservative are usually identified as “right-wing” and those who are very libertarian on economic matters are dubbed right-wing as well. Modern conservatives, for the most part, adhere to the “fusionist” school which tries to marry both traditionalism and laissez-faire in one coherent vision. Meanwhile, the Nazis – and, to a lesser extent, the Italian Fascists – rejected both of these worldviews while embracing statism. In my book (literally and figuratively) that puts you on the left. The last one is priceless...
Random Thoughts of the Day:
1) Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
2) I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
3) There is a great need for a Sarcasm font.
4) How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
5) I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
6) Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5...pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
7) Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
8) I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least 'kind of' tired.
9) Bad decisions make good stories.
10) You never know when it will strike...but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.
11) I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my 10-page research paper that I swear I did not make any changes to.
12) I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring ("Hello? Hello? Damn it!"), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
13) I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste. [Yes: some people are more important than others...]
14) As a driver I hate pedestrians, and as a pedestrian I hate drivers...but no matter what the mode of transportation, I always hate cyclists.
15) I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
16) I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay.
Bonus:
I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, government, healthcare, real estate prices, the stock market, the federal deficit, Iraq, Afghanistan, global warming, my savings, Social Security, credit card debt...I called the Suicide Hotline. I got a call center in Pakistan. I told them I was suicidal. They got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck...

...substantial American economic collapse coming to us in 2011
Government spending has already hugely increased, and so has the size and scope of government, but next year there will also be substantial tax increases for a great many Americans. The first reason will be the expiration of the Bush tax cuts . The top personal income tax rate will rise next Jan. 1 to 39.6% from 35%, a hike of nearly one-eighth. The dividend tax rate will rise to 39.6%, more than 2½ times the current 15%. And the capital gains tax rate will rise by a third, to 20% from 15%. If the House health care bill had passed, all three of these rates would have risen to 45%.Read the whole thing
The estate tax, which fell to zero this year under the Bush tax cuts, will return in 2011--or sooner, if Congress acts to restore it. Another likely tax increase will be on the income of private equity and hedge-fund managers, from the capital gains rate of 15% to the new higher income tax rates. It has already been passed by the House and is supported by the Obama administration, as is an additional 10-year, $90 billion tax on banks aimed at "rolling back bonuses for top earners." It would affect some 50 banks, insurance companies, and large broker-dealers.
Meanwhile a number of last year's tax deductions have disappeared due to the failure of Congress to extend them into this year. The tax deduction for state and local sales taxes is one; the deduction for college tuition and fees is another; and the 50% write-off for small businesses for capital purchases--equipment, machinery or building a new plant--has disappeared as well, which will have a negative effect upon the construction of new business operation facilities.
Add on to all of these increases the biggest government deficits and spending increases (to 26.5% of gross domestic product from 21%) in half a century, the protectionism of free trade downsizing through the "buy American" requirements, China import restrictions, and the administration limitations of Columbia, South Korea, and Panama free trade agreements, and we have a very different, and not very prosperous, America ahead of us.
Or as economist Arthur Laffer wrote in his January Economic Outlook, we "cannot have a prosperous economy when government is overspending, raising tax rates, printing too much money, over-regulating and restricting the free flow of goods and services across national boundaries." We are, in his words, simply "moving in the wrong direction."

But what Mr. Laffer sees as most important is a substantial American economic collapse coming to us in 2011...
The U.S. response to the earthquake should be considered an embarrassment. Our operation received virtually no support from any branch of the U.S. government, including the State Department.
...As we ran out of various supplies we had no means to acquire more. There was no way to transfer patients we were poorly equipped to manage (such as a critically ill newborn with respiratory distress) to a facility where they would get better care. We were heartbroken having to tell patients suffering incredible pain we could not perform their surgery for at least a day.Read the whole thing
Even after hearing gunshots outside the hospital, we had no protection for ourselves or our belongings—though we observed that a Jamaican medical team came with armed guards.
All these problems stemmed from ours being an isolated operation, a feature that may work in a humanitarian medical mission but not in a disaster situation. Later, as we were leaving Haiti, we were appalled to see warehouse-size quantities of unused medicines, food and other supplies at the airport, surrounded by hundreds of U.S. and international soldiers standing around aimlessly.
With an organized central command dedicated to medical relief, we could have done much better. A reconnaissance team, managed by government or U.N. officials in conjunction with medical and logistic specialists, could have immediately come to Haiti to evaluate local facilities. Preapproved groups of experienced civilian and military medical teams could have been consolidated in the U.S. from the Pensacola, Fla., military base or other locations, to avoid the airplane traffic clutter and delays that plagued landing of people and supplies into Port-au-Prince. Targeted teams with military support could then go to adequate facilities where they could be most effective.
After the disaster, certain roads should have been secured to allow the transfer of patients or supplies. A base hospital could have been established for patients requiring specialized services (such as a neonatal ICU and neurosurgery). A specialized, postoperative care center should have been established. In our case, however, we lacked the resources to ensure that patients were receiving basic wound care, antibiotics, nutrition or hydration.
The death toll from Katrina was under 2,000 people. Deaths in Haiti as of yesterday are at least 150,000. Untold numbers are dying of untreated, preventable infections. For all the outcry about Katrina, our nation has fared no better in this latest disaster.
Dr. Eachempati is a trauma surgeon and incoming president of the New York State Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. Drs. Lorich and Helfet are orthopedic surgeons. All practice at the Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City.

I believe that the RNC and DNC at the highest levels in 2008 were both complicit in shutting down all discussion of Obama's eligibility issue in the Main Stream Media, print press, and in the leading Conservative Talk Show radio stations. I believe that the RNC and the DNC were complicit in subverting Article II, Section I, Clause 5 of our Constitution as to the eligibility requirements for the Office of the President, i.e., the person eligible for that office must be a natural born Citizen", i.e., one born in the country to parents who are both citizens of the country such that the child born has singular and sole allegiance at birth to the USA and no citizenship at birth with any other country via his parents or due to the place or location of birth. A natural born Citizen needs know law or resolution of Congress to give or clarify citizenship status. Natural born Citizenship status can only be obtained by the facts of nature at the child's birth. This is natural law. This is what the founders and framers of our Constitution required for the singular and most powerful office of the President and Commander in Chief of the military. John Jay and George Washington put that requirement into the Constitution for exactly the reason that the person serving in that office would have no foreign influences on him/her at birth due to the facts and circumstances of his/her citizenship at birth. Only "natural born Citizenship" in the USA per natural law guarantees no other allegiance or citizenship claims by an another country at birth. If you are born on the U.S. soil of parents who are both citizens, no other country can claim you as a Citizen of their country and you are only governed by the laws of the USA at your birth. This is natural law as written by Vattel in 1758 in his legal book, "The Law of Nations or Principles of Natural Law". This book was used as a reference to set up our new new nation in 1776 in the writing of the Declaration of Independence and also in drafting the new form of federal government in 1789 and the writing of our Constitution, the fundamental law of our nation. Obama was born British. How can a person be born a British Subject be considered to be a "natural born Citizen" of the USA, to constitutional standards? He cannot. Our founders must be rolling over in there graves witnessing what transpired in the 2008 election cycle.Read more

If Democrats in the House and the Senate have ears to hear, that is the phrase they will remember from tonight as they consider the looming decisions on Obamacare.
This was not a stealth vote. The Democrat in this deep blue state did not lack for resources. The Senate Democrats provided the money. The president came on demand and cut the ads. The netroots were pulsing with unheeded appeals to voters.
The voters knew exactly what was on the line and they voted, decisively, against Obamacare. "It will raise taxes. It will hurt Medicare. It will destroy jobs. It will run us deeper into debt," Brown declared about Obamacare in his speech. "And we can do better!"
"No more closed door meetings. No more backroom deals. No more hiding costs. No more trillions in debt for our children to pay."
"We need to start fresh."
That's the message of the Massachusetts Miracle. Democrats ignore it at their political peril. If the president, the Speaker and the Majority Leader try a jam down, a political tsunami that is already forming will sweep ashore and destroy the Democratic Party for a generation.
"What happened here in Massachusetts can happen all over America," Brown said as he closed his remarks. That is what Senate and House Democrats need to hear. If they insist on ignoring the American people and dismissing their collective, great common sense, the people will retire them in great numbers.
Thank you Scott Brown, for having faith in the American voter.

Excerpt from An Open Letter to Our Readers
In about two years, if we work hard, we believe we can see to it that Liberals are exiled from power and influence for the next 30 years. We can defeat them from the school board level all the way up to the White House. We can roll back all of their PC nonsense, all of their economy-killing “progressive measures”, and even take back the educational system and remove all the brainwashing they’re inflicting upon our children. It’s not going to be easy, and the Left will resist us kicking and screaming, lashing out like demons in an exorcism, but if we work hard we will win.
The irony of all this, to us, is that if Liberalism and “the progressive agenda” were really so wonderful, you’d think these people wouldn’t have to resort to calling people who oppose them RAAACISTS, trying to ruin them, threaten physical violence against them, or want to see them die of AIDS or otherwise be killed.
If what the Liberals are selling is so wonderful, so chock full of unicorns and Hope-and-Changey delicious Kool-Aid, then why do they have to use Alinsky tactics and thuggery to advance their cause?
Why do these people have to behave like villains from books, TV, and movies if they are so enlightened and they really know what’s best for everyone?
We’ll continue to ask these questions, and many more, in the days, weeks, months, and YEARS to come, God willing, and with your continued and much needed support.
We can’t do this alone, especially not in light of the increased attacks, but we will strive to do our level best for this country…and we hope you stand up with us as much as you can.

MLK FOUGHT FOR CIVIL RIGHTS AND AGAINST DEMOCRATS

As we honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., let us pause to reflect on who he was and why his struggle to obtain civil rights for black Americans was necessary.
First, Dr. King was a Republican until the day he died because he knew that the Republican Party, from its founding in 1854 as the anti-slavery party, championed freedom and civil rights for blacks. For details on the history of civil rights, see the NBRA Civil Rights Newsletter posted on the NBRA's website.
Second, the nemesis of Dr. King's valiant and historic campaign to end discrimination and gain equality for blacks was the Democratic Party, the party of slavery, segregation and the Ku Klux Klan. Led by former Klansman Robert Byrd, Democrats launched a despicable crusade to smear and undermine Dr. King. This relentless disparagement of Dr. King resulted in his being physically assaulted and ultimately to his tragic death.
When Dr. King left Memphis, Tennessee in March of 1968 after riots broke out where a teenager was killed, Byrd called Dr. King a "trouble-maker" who starts trouble, but runs like a coward after trouble is ignited. A few weeks later, Dr. King returned to Memphis and was assassinated on April 4, 1968.
Prior to his death, Democrats bombed Dr. King's home several times. The scurrilous efforts by the Democrats to harm Dr. King included spreading rumors that he was a Communist and accusing him of being a womanizer and a plagiarist.
An egregious act against Dr. King occurred on October 10, 1963. Democrat President John F. Kennedy authorized his brother, Democrat Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, to wiretap Dr. King's telephone using the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Wiretaps were placed by the FBI on Dr. King's telephones in his home and office. The FBI also bugged Dr. King's hotel rooms when he traveled around the country.
The trigger for this unsavory wiretapping was apparently Dr. Kings' criticism of President Kennedy for ignoring civil rights issues, according to the author David Garrow in his book, "Bearing the Cross". As was pointed out in the book by Wayne Perryman "Blacks, Whites and Racist Democrats", Kennedy voted against the 1957 Civil Rights Act while he was a senator. After Kennedy became president, he was opposed to the 1963 March on Washington by Dr. King.
The justification given by the Kennedy Administration publicly for wiretapping Dr. King was that two of Dr. King's associates, including David Levinson, had ended their association with the Communist Party in order to work undercover and influence Dr. King. However, after years of continuous and extensive wiretapping, the FBI found no direct links of Dr. King to the Communist Party.
Kennedy's disdain for blacks further manifested itself when the King family sought help with getting Dr. King out of a Birmingham jail. Kennedy's civil rights advisor, Harris Wofford who was a personal friend of Dr. King made a telephone call on behalf of Kennedy without Kennedy's knowledge. That call resulted in Dr. King's release. Kennedy was angry about the call because he feared he would lose the Southern vote. History shows, though, that the call by Wofford eventually worked in Kennedy's favor and is the primary reason so many blacks today wrongly venerate Kennedy.
The unrelenting efforts by Democrats to tarnish Dr. King's reputation continued for years after his death. To his credit, Republican President Ronald Reagan ignored the Democrats' smear campaign and made Dr. King's birthday a holiday.
Today, while professing to revere Dr. King, Democrats are still attempting to sully his image by claiming that he was a socialist. In reality, Dr. King was a Christian, guided by his faith and Republican Party principles as he struggled to gain equality for blacks. He did not embrace the type of socialist agenda that is promoted by the Democratic Party today, which includes fostering dependency on government handouts that trap blacks in generational poverty.

In short, conservatives know that Brown is no "RINO" because when it matters most, and on the issues that are most visible and pressing, he is with them. Bona fide "RINOs," by contrast, seem to take delight in sticking their thumb in the eyes of conservatives. This video is a once in a lifetime experience of a British civilian getting a flight at over 70,000 ft. in a U-2 spy plane.
Please note at the take-off the assist wheels on the outer edges of the wings which drop off upon take-off.
The wings are so long that they need temporary support until lift-off.
What is not shown is at the landing the plane actually slows to a small enough speed that two guys are actually able to grab the wing tips and put those assist wheels back on.
The civilian getting the ride is the host of the car show on BBC shown through Europe at 9:00 pm Sunday night in Belgium anyway the name of which escapes me at the moment [Top Gear is the name].
The views are spectacular as the U-2 flies at altitudes which constitute "SPACE." It's a bit long, but it's really cool!! It's worth investing 10 minutes of your time in my humble opinion.

Hungarian Physicist Dr. Ferenc Miskolczi proves CO2 emissions irrelevant in Earth’s Climate
Dr. Miskolczi first published his work in the Quarterly Journal of the Hungarian Meteorological Services in 2004, Volume 108, No 4. He published further statistical proof in the same Journal in 2007, Volume 111, No. 1. In the 5 years since he first published his results, not one peer review has come back disproving his theory, or his Constant. Rescuing Blacks from the Slavery of Dependency

On his program yesterday Fox’s Glen Beck was criticizing Democrats for the debilitating effects of big government dependency on the African American community. One of the all-black panelists put forth the idea that the disintegration of the black family may have been the root cause for the increase in dependency inasmuch as only 20% of black children were born out of wedlock in 1960 whereas today that figure has sky rocketed to 80%.
Glen noted that Bill Cosby had brought this up before but got hammered for it. He asked Brandon Brice (a community organizer and a Republican) for his comment. Brandon opined that Cosby had called for black males to be more responsible - he then made a 360 departure, changed the subject and said the following:
The more important thing when we look at things as Republicans and conservatives and when we talk of the fear of big government we have to remember that big government whether you like it or not - it’s the perceived notion that they are taking care of much of low income America right now especially at this time of depression. Maybe the solution should be a smarter and more responsible government and I believe that if that happens what you will have – you will shift to automatically smaller government because it will be based on principle. Right now much of the low income neighborhoods are dependent on this so you can’t speak against something that is supporting the lower masses whether you like it or not.
The community organizer hit it right on the head. Unfortunately it flew right over Beck’s. Brice opined that a smarter government would use principled legislation which would naturally result in a smaller government. Voila- an economic solution to poverty. That is what our Founders bequeathed to us. If the government were smaller the taxes taken from the people wouldn’t be so great and they could use that extra money to grow the economy and create and compound their own wealth.
Unfortunately instead of pursuing an economic line of reasoning Beck and the panel headed off into a rehash of the “social” effects of dependency. They eventually compared the black community to domesticated dogs who had to rely on their owners because they were never taught how to survive on their own. What a sad analogy – and from an African-American panelist yet.
The panel didn’t pursue how being smarter and more principled could possibly lead to an “economic” solution to poverty and the eradication of this endemic condition in so many parts of the black community. It was just another chance Beck missed to uncover a solution – a wall he butts into almost daily.
To change a cultural dynamic like poverty you have to have a reason for blacks to make a change. So why in the world would the black community presently vote for Republicans when Republicans have nothing to offer but the admonition to be “responsible”? Do Republicans believe they can shame blacks into voting to cut off their free food, free housing and free health care by proving that Democrats are corrupt capitalists posing as socialists? It hasn’t worked in the past and it won’t work in the future save a massive change in the Republican political arsenal. Today Republicans are not even a perceived threat to blacks as they have been accommodating blacks for years by appeasing the entitlement cabal that has run up a $118 trillion debt.
So what is a smart principled legislature? Well it is one that knows a $118 national funded and unfunded debt is unsustainable and moves to extinguish at least the $110 trillion portion that represent entitlements. It would repeal and replace entitlements (or the “free stuff”) with programs that use capitalist principles to eradicate poverty, lower taxes and increase benefits. No matter how daunting a task this appears to be on the surface, it is doable today without sacrificing the relatively paltry benefits government presently doles out in entitlements nor cost a dime more than the taxpayer presently pay. The people would continue to be paid their full entitlement benefits required by law today as they would be legislated as a “safety net” under which no future benefits would fall. .
Increasing benefits like Social Security’s monthly check from $1,000 to $33,000 seems like a pipe dream. How could a legislature do that? Actually it can be done quite simply by removing the government from the equation - by privatizing Social Security, Medicare and Disability and letting the taxpayer keep the 15.3% in payroll taxes presently confiscated from him or her and letting them use those funds in a personal investment account to grow and accumulate over the years into a nest egg. Let’s take a simple example.
The average American household presently makes over $50,000 a year. That means they pay over $7,500 a year in payroll taxes. Over a 40-year working life that $7,500 amounts to a contribution of $300,000 to the government for which the taxpayer gets no nest egg. However, if those payroll taxes were the taxpayer’s own money and invested weekly in the stock market for 40 years the average nest egg accumulated would be $4,000,000. Just the earnings off the $4 million in the 41st year would equal $33,000 a month.
If you doubt these figures go to the tables on www.riseupamerica.us and review them. Even low-income taxpayers will end up with million-dollar nest eggs and tens of thousands in monthly retirement checks. As a policy matter individual and national wealth will accumulate and grow as it is willed from one generation to the next. We call the plan the Rise Up America plan (RUA) and the personal investment account a “USA” - universal savings account. It will end endemic poverty in the black community.
RUA and the USA are the type of tools it will take to motivate blacks to vote for Republicans and vote for capitalism. Today we have blacks like Oprah Winfrey mistakenly touting Denmark and its socialist government as the answer black Americans are looking for. When the richest black woman in America who has reached that pinnacle through her understanding and use of capitalism starts promoting socialism Republicans should wake up to the fact that they need to offer the black community more than an encouraging word to be more responsible. They need a pocketbook issue like RUA. It can be the one that ends black dependency on government.

Health Care reform is a prime example of Progressivism in action.
The delivery of health care services has grown costly, leaving many without coverage. But survey after survey shows that 75 or 80 percent of Americans or more are personally satisfied with the quality of their own health care.
The Democratic leaderships' brazen attempts to rush through a health care reform with little public debate and deliberation have disgraced the annals of government by consent. They frantically scribble thousand-page laws behind closed doors and demand midnight votes from members who are given no opportunity to read the legislation they are voting about. This farcical process flunks the Constitution's "due process of law" test.

Repealing Obamacare

The Club for Growth's Chris Chocola writes today that Republicans should make the 2010 and 2012 elections about repealing Obamacare if it passes. Sen. Jim DeMint and Rep. Jeff Flake have already responded by taking a pledge to support a repeal. As somebody who has spent much of my past year reporting on how destructive this legislation would be, I'm absolutely in favor of any efforts to repeal it, just as I favor constitutional challenges. I think that Americans should use any means available to stop this monstrosity. At the same time, however, I think that if the health care bill gets signed into law, it's highly unlikely Republicans will be able to repeal it, or even major portions of it. Most Democrats won't be eager to overturn the greatest domestic achievement of their party since 1965 -- and you'd need to pass the repeal through the House, through the Senate with 60 votes, and then have the President sign it. To even seriously talk about repeal being an actual possibility, Republicans would likely have to gain 40 House seats, 20 Senate seats, and the White House in under three years. Even then, all of those Republicans would have to be onboard with the idea of repeal. So, while I think it's certainly worth aiming for, opponents of Obamacare must also be thinking about ways to reform the system if the repeal effort isn't successful.
At that time, it will be pretty clear that Obamacare was a disaster. Health care costs will still be rising, entitlement spending will be bankrupting our country, there will be doctor shortages, long wait times for care, and the quality of treatment will decline. At some point, there will be another national health care debate. Liberals will argue that Obamacare expanded coverage, but the reason why all the other problems still exist is that Democrats sold out on the public option, and ceded too much control to private insurers. When that happens, opponents cannot be caught flat-footed again -- but instead have to be in a position to respond with well-thought out alternatives. Obamacare puts us on the trajectory toward a single-payer system, but it won't get us there without further Congressional action. We'll have to start laying the groundwork immediately to stop the Democrats' next big push, which will happen years from now. And while repeal is worth fighting for, it shouldn't distract us from debating a "Plan B" should that effort prove unsuccessful. I'll have a lot more to say about it should Obamacare get signed into law.
