THE COVID-19 TIMELINE FOR U.S. ELECTIONS (2020)

Some Covid Time Line information

Jan. - Glimmer of international awareness, end of January task force established. Fauci relayed at press conference, we know this disease has a high mortality rate, far more widespread then testing can keep up with. Trump acknowledged this.

Jan 24th - Trump talks with Xi Jinping, China working hard to contain virus. US confirms 2nd cases of virus.

Jan 31st - Trump puts travel ban on China against Democrats' wishes, declaring tricky, deadly virus more deadly then flu.

Feb 1st - Biden calls Trump “xenophobic, fear mongering, causing hysteria.”

Feb 2nd - Coumo declares no reason to panic, been here before, we are being proactive, taking precautions, using best practices, not taking the virus for granted, don’t panic, don’t over react.

Feb-early March - Oxiris Barbot, NYC health commissioner, “low risk, don’t panic” “no risk in casual contact” “mostly transmitted in people who live together” “Go about your lives, take subway, go out and enjoy life but practice everyday precautions”

Feb 28th - Biden declares don’t panic.

Feb 29th - Pelosi tells everyone to come to Chinatown to celebrate the lunar new year, stating we’re being careful, we’re safe, join us.

March 3rd - DeBlasio states this is something we can handle together, go about your lives, your business

March 2, 3, 7, 9, 10 - Biden holding rallies knowing current virus information from the task force not concerned about mass gatherings

March 10th - DeBlasio states we want to encourage going about your life. Precautions are for people over 50 with pre-existing conditions.

Healthy people very little threat, acts like common cold or flu and transmission is not easy. Doesn’t hang in air (says this because Trump said it did). Takes direct person-to-person contact, direct transmission of fluids.

March 10th - Fauci-Q: Are we doing everything possible? A: I believe so, trying to keep up with the “fog of war” with an evolving situation.

March 11th - WHO declares pandemic

March 12th - With 1300 cases Trump declares state of emergency

March 16th - Biden gave a speech in Pennsylvania seemingly not worried about mass gatherings

March 24th - Fauci – Q: Is the response appropriate? A: Coordinated response with whole task force, response is impressive. All hands-on deck – whole group- every single day – working day and night- can’t do more – fog of war (meaning what we know today)

March 25th - State directive for NY requiring medically stable patients to be admitted to nursing homes. Nursing homes asked for and where prohibited from requiring patients be tested for the virus before being admitted per directive from Coumo.

Fast forward to Sept 10th day after Trump accused of downplaying the virus to prevent panic. Fauci Q: Did he down play the virus in

February? - A: I don’t think so. He said to the public what we discussed in the task force meetings. No discrepancies. I saw no sense of him downplaying or distorting what we knew at the time.

If there was a “no panic” theme it was with all parties, if there was “push back” for shutting down, it was all parties, if China and the WHO would have been honest we’d of had a head start to fight this invisible enemy, if NY would have been more accepting earlier of the task force warnings death tolls would have been lower, nursing homes would have been listened too. That’s a lot of ifs. Hind sight is

20/20. - No Government has ever been able to stop a new virus nor expected to. That is an impossible task, it is a virus. What needs to happen is global cooperation, learn from our experiences and sharing of all scientific knowledge for treatments and successful procedures. Above all drop the politics and cooperate, i.e. how reporting of positive tests being reported as cases. If it were reported as per patient totals, Joliet labs says the numbers would be about a 40% less. Politics is causing fear, anger and stress. There is no honesty and partial truths.

As for underlying conditions, a relative, who is a clinical nurse manager in a large Milwaukee hospital, told me it was the patients who presented with undiagnosed and/or refusing to follow treatment of their underlying conditions that did poorly. I’d like to see a study on this. Asthma was taken off the list as an underlying risk condition. Is it because of using anti-inflammatory inhalers? Sounds like an early treatment that needs to be implemented.

I’d also like to see the statistics on the asymptomatic positive tests. The question is asked when you go for testing so the statistics are out there. We have a lot to learn and we’ve learned a lot. Food for thought.
